I like nirvana but I think it’s sad that people don’t know David Bowie wrote this amazing song (before you reply i’m not saying that Kurt didn’t do a great job with this cover it’s an amazing cover all I’m say is it’s also lyrically a great song as well)

How is it that this song from1970. 51 years ago still sound like it’s futuristic? I was 14 then. Now 65. It still sounds like something for 2040. And I love that. Plus it’s not the only Bowie song that give this feeling.

Just to clarify, both artists were amazingly original but Bowie (my favorite artist of all time) really did not have any style remotely resembling what Nirvana (my second favorite artists) did. They EACH had their own unique style which did not resemble the others whatsoever. As I said: Original. Kurts tribute was amazing. Just that though, a tribute.

I agree with you. cobain's version is just as good as the original because of how careful he was about covering other people's work--and his scratchy voice adds effect. all in all, obviously, kids that grew up in the '90s are gonna be more familiar with the nirvana version and like it better as where kids that grew up in the '70s will be more familiar with the original. this is a rare example of a cover version actually being as good as the original. think about "something in the air." thunderclap or tom petty? both also perfect. but I still like the heartbreakers version better. @Рома Роман I don't think you understand how things work. It is impossible to disprove something that doesn't exist. The proof (plural of proof is proof, not proofs) has to come from the people who argue it does it exist. If I said there was a magical entity called a "ek", you couldn't disprove it's existence but you shouldn't believe me because i've provided no evidence of it's existence. The same goes for God, Heaven, Hell, Fairies, etc. There is no evidence of their existence so you have to be pretty gullible to believe in them.

+RaptorRoll - Just wondering something. Have you lost a parent to death? Or a spouse? Or a close friend? If not, your question is understandable in the sense that you really don't have a way to comprehend why people react the way they do when an important person in their life passes. If so, did you just shrug your shoulders and say, "oh well, people die every day" and go on your merry way? Surely not. Bowie's death was a "shock" to many because 1) His illness was only known by a very small number of people...it was not public knowledge. 2) To many people, he was more than just a talented entertainer. He touched the hearts and minds of quite a few people and his music was a big part of their lives. So, even though they didn't know him personally, they felt the impact of his death personally.

We will forsake our countries. We will leave our motherlands behind us and become one with this earth. We have no nation. No philosophy. No ideology. We go where we're needed. Fighting not for country, not for government, but for ourselves. We need no reason to fight. We fight because we are needed. We will be the deterrent for those with no other recourse. We are soldiers without borders, our purpose defined by the era we live in. We will sometimes have to sell our selves and services. If the times demand it, we will be revolutionaries, criminals, terrorists, and yes, we may all be headed straight to hell. But what better place for us than this? It is our only home. I was in HMV today with my son. I came across the Bowie album, "the man who sold the world." What's strange is, I just logged in to KZread, and what shows up. This track. I didn't look for it or even think about the album after leaving the HMV store. We are litrally being spyed upon everywhere we go.

I mean Bowie is one of the greatest artists ever but he wrote the album when he was 22-23 and much like Hunky Dory its far far from being flawless and while the foundations of what would eventually become quintissentially Bowie are certainly there, its still quite unclear.

"oh no, not me, i never lost control you're face to face with the man who sold the world." i laughed and shook his hand and made my way back home, i searched for form and land, for years and years i roamed. i gazed a gazley stare at all the millions here: "we must have died alone, a long long time ago." I am a nirvana fan. The amount of comparison between the original piece and nirvanas cover is never ending. Over at nirvana's cover of this song, the comments section is much more peaceful. Those who didn''t know that this is a david bowie's original accepted the fact as soon as they learnt. Even kurt cobain said that this was a david bowie song. Trolls will be trolls. Don't feed them by responding.

I've never been so devastated from a celebrity death. It's a part of life that sucks and the survival rate for everyone is 0%. We're all gonna die. But damn, this sent me reeling. I'm still hurting from this. I genuinely loved David and his music. Also, the blonde chick playing the wooden fish thing is extremely hot.

Like opening a diary, every song seems like an old friend. Evoking memories of people, places and feelings. So many feelings. Some forgotten until the music plays. What a wonderful thing for somebody to give me. Looking at all of the beautiful comments people are leaving and the huge, and very honest outpouring of sadness at his passing, I'm guessing i'm not alone in feeling somebody very special has gone.
