Yeah, the distribution was very strange. I saw it a year ago too (in France) and it seems to have kept gradually coming out everywhere since.
I was very lucky to see this last year and honestly i think this is one of my favourites, ignoring the legend that has become the making of this film is still stands on its own merits. Fantastic ending and some very unique storytelling, often not seen in films anymore. Terry truly has managed to adapt the impossible.

Those two documentaries need to be on the Blu Ray when it comes out. Perfect all nighter. Watch the failed making of documentary, the film and the making of documentary.
Wonder of they'll ever make a feature film about when they made it in 2000 with Depp, called Lost In Lost In La Mancha, then the whole thing will go meta boom
Wow... finally a positive review of this film
Man, this films been out for about a year everywhere else, why so long for a uk release.

A MUST WATCH! Just watched this movie & it is absolutely fantastic. The sets are not over designed and costumes are simple yet very cool. The acting is superb and makes this movie funny, emotional, and insane(in a good way). Pryce and Driver are the perfect pair that dance flawlessly thru this movie. I Believe this to be Jonathon Pryces's best acting job. 👍👍 Up!
I was lucky enough to see the one screening this had in my town, and it was so worth the wait. I've long loved Gilliam, and I absolutely loved this movie.
Thank god. I was hoping this was going to be great. And it sounds sublime. Lost In La Mancha is an amazing documentary and I really hope that when this appears on Blu, they include the new one they’ve made along with the movie (hint, hint Criterion?). Cannot wait to see both!
Caught the advanced screening last night and loved it, vintage Gilliam. It does drag on a bit but I can only imagine that's cut down from a much, much, much longer director's cut.

Finally! Thanks for reviewing Mark
A Mark Kermode review about every Terry Gilliam film: "This is so nearly a good film".
Interesting the last claim there, because I’ve never known Gilliam as anything other than the guy who couldn’t make don quixote and this was my first film of his and I liked it quite a lot
Saw it on the 23rd; thanks to Terry G for his persistence as it is all that I could have hoped for. Gilliam draws excellent performances from his leads, as well as paying homage to the book, his quest to bring the film to the screen, and a top quality Trump dig for good measure.
"It is a very very Terry film.." All I needed to hear, I'm off to find it now.
I saw it at the BFI with Terry Gilliam and found it extremely entertaining and rather sad at the end.
@NMahon

It is sad at the end but actually on reflection I felt inspired and happy, because in the end although he is physically dead, Quixote is quite immortal and will live on forever!

seen it a year ago in Germany. Its been out on DVD there for an age also. I really liked the film.
I like to think of this as a marriage story sequel
Loved Lost in La Mancha. I'd really love to get my hands on a copy of He Dreams of Giants
I have my doubts about the movie, but Jonathan Pryce is a pearl of great prize.
Just watched the movie and am touched to tears. In my own humble way, I can relate very, very viscerally to the struggles of someone who just cannot go along with the world as it has been handed to them. Better BY FAR to strive for something special in life and fail than to strive for average and achieve it.
To get the exact quotation, add the word "then" - 4:55 "It's not for everyone, but then who wants a Terry Gilliam film that is?"
I just watched this movie, and I can say this movie was my first fever dream.
Can't wait. But will have to.
Gilliam is legit trying to establish The Church of Batman The Redeemer
I'm really really confused....did I not already watch this film like a year ago? What am I missing? Did I dream it?
Very, very Terry. I adored it.
Does anyone know where this film is been screened near Cambridge. Struggling to find it anywhere

Same boat in Brum. Your best bet is the Arthouse Cinemas but one is leaving it a month before showing it. Good luck!
Very Terry. I like it already.
I find myself wondering whether Lost in La Mancha helped generate public interest in seeing this film come to fruition. P.S. Totally a Terry Gilliam fan, everything from this to Twelve Monkeys and The Fisher King, to Brazil, to "the animator suffered a fatal heart attack."
I really would like to go and see this.
The castings great, some of it I really like other parts i hate, it’s weird in the respect that it oscillates widly between high enjoyability and pretentious drivel. I honestly don’t know if I like or dislike the film as a whole, I only know my opinion on individual scenes. Hmmm 🤔
Jonathan Pryce was fantastic in this role.
Takes about 30 minutes to go, "full Gilliam" but once it does, it's great. And Adam Driver is hilarious. Probably my favorite performance by him so far. Btw, I made a tribute video to Terry's films if anyone is interested. kzread.info/dash/bejne/eaqIlsiPda2dgNo.html It was made with the die hard fans in mind. Hope ya like it!

The man who killed don quixote. A noble knight and his squire roam the spanish countryside in search of a plot.
The movie came out in 2018 and you are reviewing it in 2020, man what took you so long? But considering the movie took thirty years to make, it feels on point.
The only movie of Gilliam's which I've enjoyed was The Fisher King; the rest I can very happily do without. The dialogue is, like the cutting, messy, and hard to understand; often characters talk over one another... his movies are chockfull of ideas to the point where none of them seem to matter.. He seems to me the absolute diametric opposite of a Tarkovsky.. I as fifteen when Time bandits came out and I loved it; since then I struggle to see what I liked about it..

“Thats so pythonesque though isnt it?” (said monotonously cynically) is the most dull, stereotypical po-faced ‘professional movie critic’ first sentence that other guy could have said.

It was dreadful. It meanders, and wobbles and goes pear shaped and falls right off the wheel. This thing is a burnt offering. 🤑
Takes far too long to get going, and goes on for far far too long. I don't know how Kermode can compare this to Holy Grail - it contains very little of the same energy. Probably Gilliams worst film - which is a shame after great films like 12 monkeys and Fear and Loathing.
