Couldn't watch more than 10 minutes. I have such admiration for Clint, but it was hard watch him rattling around. I hope I am still active if I ever make it to his age, but he should have hung up his spurs after The Mule.

'Eat, love' could be a film where Julia Roberts visits a small bedsit in the North West to find a cure for anorexia..? Javier Bardem could be a bus driver on Route 273 that doesn't stop where she wants and they engage in fisticuffs.

When a 12 year old says the film is cliche, you have a problem. Bravo for an intelligent review. It is my personal belief that this film is not science fiction... This uninspired story could have been placed anywhere in history. In most movies, it is the characters that are important. In Sifi it is the story that is important... This movie is a love triangle, action adventure.. CGI can enhance a story's visuals but if it dominates, it destroys the suspension of disbelief. It is my guess that there will be no good films made until after the Apocalypse...

The thing (ahem) I've realised about Alex Garland is that he's a cheesy pseud, and that's fine, that's a good thing in a writer of high concept b-movies. The cheesy conceit here is that the film itself is an example of what's going on in the film, it recombines "DNA" from a load of other films, most obviously Stalker & Solaris, but also quotes from Carpenter's The Thing, Existenz (rather on the nose with JJL being present) and a load more I can't be bothered to remember. It's a bit "do you see?" but sod it, enjoy the fromage.

Another Coen Brothers movie that gets better with each viewing. I loved the "Girl that Got Rattled". Intense and devastating. Each story has a different appeal. The first two I found weakest- but they were also the funniest... and even they get better with each viewing.

I agree- it is a love letter to the old Hollywood. It gets funnier each time you view it. It accurately, if exaggeratedly, captures the mood, absurdity, innocence, depravity and contradictions of Hollywood. It also has a hero- Josh Brolin, whose character believes in what he is doing. His slapping around of George Clooney never gets old...
Thought this movie was great. I’m calling it now that Channing will win an Oscar at some point.
