The Making of the MCU was a Sh*t Show (Pt 2: Assembling Avengers)
Фильм және анимация
Making a superhero film universe is hard. Let’s talk about how difficult it was to make Phase One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe; from Avi Arad leaving Marvel & Edward Norton fighting for a final edit, to firing Terrence Howard & forcing script changes on Jon Favreau, or casting troubles with Chris Hemsworth & Chris Evans, and overlooking Favreau for Joss Whedon.

The shawarma scene to me is more than just a gag, I think it really helped cement this team as a team. To see them in a quiet moment, all giving one another the space or comfort they need after going through that together. And Clint’s foot up on Nat’s chair, showing how comfortable they are as a duo, it’s such a small moment from such an amazing friendship!!! 😭

Terrence Howard's misdirected bitterness still after so many years is so petty, and even more assurance that rejecting him in favor of Don Cheadle was the best idea. the movie was called Iron Man, not Iron Man's Friend.
@samueljones3668

@@samueljones3668 yeah, we can all understand WHY he's not happy. but to place most, if not ALL, of the blame on RDJ is misguided. The Avengers is a great action movie. The movie focuses on the spectacle rather than having a complex narrative focusing on specific characters.

Eternals was so bad it let everyone know what a huge accomplishment it was for Avengers to pull off an ensemble cast that gave equal weight to each character while maintaining a fun sense of camaraderie between a cast of characters learning to work as a team. 6:30 So he got paid over twice what the lead role did as a side character, even though he had very few scenes, but did nothing to help RDJ get a higher paycheck the first time around. But then when you get told "yeah we're not paying you $4m for 5 scenes in a movie" you take it as an insult and expect RDJ to what...give you some of his money? Egotistical Hollywood actor take. You were barely part of the franchise and expected to be treated like their Golden Goose. While it may have been insulting at the time, he got an opportunity to be in the biggest and highest grossing movie franchise of all time and turned it down because of his ego.

At the time, Howard had a shiny new Oscar and all the hype that entails, so his self-belief that he was golden isn't an entire surprise in that context. At the outset he was the big name on the cast sheet (along with Paltrow, another Oscar winner). After the film's release of course, it was all RDJ. Crashing into reality must have been a really nasty awakening for Howard. Paltrow already knew that an Oscar didn't automatically mean better roles and paycheques

Absolutely brilliant video. The all-knowing algorithm just served up the _Back To The Future_ video from this channel. I loved it and before I knew it, I had binged through 3 more videos. I was taken aback a little when I discovered the channel only has 51k subs. These videos are so well researched, written, edited, and narrated, I just assumed it was a multi-million subscriber channel. These videos have the polish of a channel that's been doing this for years. You gained another sub from me. I can't wait to see more from this channel. Also, holy crap. ("language!") I can't even picture John Krasinski as Steve Rogers. He's the goofy guy from the American version of _The Office._ He is not Steve Rogers. I know he buffed up for Jack Ryan but no. Steve Rogers is more than just a muscle man. He's ...Steve Rogers. They got lucky talking Chris Evans into it given the alternative. It would be the MCU version of Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly. John Krasinski just isn't right.

I love videos looking deep into the making process of stuff like this, really great video:)) are you making a part 3 sometime?
I just found ur videos. And I gotta say I love this series u have created. Amazing job! Thanks
Wow, that clip of Terrance Howard saying RDJ ghosted him for 3 months after the studio cut out most of his paycheck kind of made me view RDJ differently

He probably didn't want to deal with TH and his narcissistic ego. Watch his other interviews, he's an asshole.
@hiimchrisj

Frankly I think he's just full of himself thinking RDJ had any negotiating power in that situation at all at the time. Considering how often RDJ went up to bat for all his co-stars in the years after this supposed betrayal, I have a hard time believing it. RDJ's the reason all the other main Avengers actors got paid as much as they did, why wouldn't he have done the same for Howard if he actually had the power to do so? And that's ignoring the fact that Howard's contribution to the film is indeed less significant than RDJ's and definitely not worth him being the highest paid actor.
@superheroedits1315

@@hiimchrisj That can also be true, we really don’t know the behind the scenes details, but ghosting Terrance for 3 months during that fiasco is a red flag for me.

@@superheroedits1315 There's also a possibility that RDJ did in fact screw Howard over and because of the guilt he changed his ways moving on, but Terrence Howard is also full of shit so who knows how accurate his statement is?

@@CrisKRA Has Terrance Howard had a history of lying about stuff like that or are you just saying he’s full of shit because you like RDJ?
You know, with No Way Home's Extended Cut coming, I'm wondering/hoping that we could eventually get Similar Treatments for some of the MCU Films, in some capacity since I'm sure that completing Effects Shots, would be something for lack of a better word: "Slightly Complicated".
Love the story behind the story... my best to you guys from Bolivia. Waiting for the next ep.
man I have been a die hard MCU fan since day 1, but the things I learned form this video is literal gold mine, THANKYOU!!!!

The 'shawarma' line in The Avengers wasn't ad-libbed by Downey; it was actually a quote from Nicholas Brendon's audition for Buffy years before.
Loved both of these videos. Hoped there was a part 3 just to see more of it. New subscriber here for sure.

Iron Man 2 is the most under rated MCU film for me it's nearly every bit as good as the first and a proper sequel don't understand why people were mad about the "world building" when every MCU movie has more world building now and no one complains

A lot of people complain about the world building about some of the other movies because, in their opinion, makes the movie feel less about the characters involved.

I disagree with the assertion that Ironman2 is one of the weakest Marvel films. Yeah, whiplash probably needed more scenes but the pace of the movie was was good. The action sequences (especially at the end) were fantastic and IMO worked better than many of the other Marvel movies. Ironman 3 was the movie that didn't work IMO.

Every time I hear Terrence Howard talk about RDJ, all I can think is dude.....RDJ did not take any money out of your pocket. He's the star, and foundation of an entire cinematic universe. You're best movie was about a pimp who has a midlife crisis. Quit being bitter about it. All because TH can't get over hus narcissistic ego.
