The main weakness of the MT07

A quick ride where I talk about the one thing the MT07 lacks for me, and why buying a brand new motorcycle was a bad idea for me.

    I’m 60 years old and when I left the dealership on my brand new 2022 mt07 the front tire never touched the ground until 4th gear. As an old man that has been riding since 1969 let me give you some advice. Riding a motorcycle slowly and gently or not riding it very often in order to keep its resale value up makes as much sense as having a beautiful sexy girlfriend and not using her much in order to keep her in like new condition for the next guy.

    You speak truth my friend! I have warmed up to the idea of riding it for what it is, still haven’t done too many wheelies. Maybe a couple baby power wheelies in 1st and 2nd. Your crazy, Haha, but I respect it. Hope you’re still enjoying your ride. Have you or are you going to have your bike flashed/tuned?

    I know how you feel man, I bought a brand new mt07 and take super good care of it and constantly drove it slowly and boringly, and then when I realized that it's a motorcycle and not a flower that will break, driving became much more relaxed and fun for me. Whatever happens will happen, the main thing is to have fun on the bike, because it's still a big toy😆. Greetings from Croatia, the video was pleasant to listen to.

    MT07 was my first bike. It was good for beginners but I found out that I dont like 2 cylinders. Feels fun but also kind of choppy & shaky on a long term. Sound without exhaust, literally sounds like a vacuum cleaner. Sold it after 1 1/2 years - about 4 years ago. Next will be a used FZ6 or something like that.

    Cool man! Yeah the sound is incredible only with an aftermarket exhaust. Thats pretty much like 90% of what the bike is all about, other than that I agree its a little meh. Unless you only want to do wheelies all the time which I don't really care. If you found that choppy I would for sure try out any 4 cylinder bikes. Singles are the choppiest, then Twins, then they smooth out as you go from # cylinders to 4. Im probably going to get a super nice old 4 cylinder sportsbike next, such nice power delivery and cheaper then these new naked bikes. Anyways man, sorry to write you a book here, ride safe dude!

    Crazy! Hope you’re ok, you can always get a new bike. Super huge lesson to, to become even more scared and aware of people not paying attention. I’m all over the place with this bike, I love it but I also find it a tiny bit small feeling sometimes. It’s really just the best sounding bike out there but I think I’m ready to keep trying out other bikes. Can always get another one another time. I would switch it up if I were you, unless you love to wheelie and stuff then this platform is great. But that’s just me, you never know what bikes you really love until you try lots out! Ride safe!!

    Obviously it’s not so bouncy or you’re just too lazy to change fork oil. Changing fork oil is just regular maintenance. So it’s no big deal to use belray 20wt oil, add 15 cc’s more than you drained from each leg, cut the preload spacers 10 mm and raise the tubes 8mm in the trees. It works, period. Bitching about shitty forks but not doing such a simple fix is like bitching about the president when you didn’t even vote.

    @@davidleonard8369 my bike has 2200 miles it doesnt or shouldnt need any suspension maintenance like that. Its just extremely soft and bouncy for me and what i do now. Used to just use it to commute but started tracking it and hittin canyons and the front end bottoms out a lot and what not. Riding style just changed and something i noticed is of way too soft and pogo like for me, still an amazing bike for what it’s actually designed but though. Plus dont act like the front end isnt shit. Even 2022 z900’s use inverted forks lol

    @@triyo1089whatever. I’ve been riding since I was 5 years old in 1969 and racing since 1987. The Dave moss fix really stiffens up the forks for the price of a bottle of fork oil. There’s plenty of motorcycles on the road with USD forks that left the factory set up wrong. The new Honda 750 hornet and triumph trident have inverted forks and so far I haven’t heard anyone claim that they are light years better than the Yamaha’s cheap conventional forks. Seems to me that there’s a whole lot of forks out there that people aren’t satisfied with because there’s a zillion companies out there selling stuff to improve them.

    I test rode a new mt07 but found the gearbox very notchy at low revs. Is that normal? Does it get better as the bike breaks in?

  • @nickandmotorcycletime5246

    @nickandmotorcycletime5246

    9 ай бұрын

    My only thought is being a test ride and just that maybe that was the issue. What do you mean by notchy? I wouldn't say they are notchy gearboxes but I guess it sometimes feels like it isnt in gear but it is. Tthey are a bit lurky with torque. I find when I switch between my bikes and this bike I always have to quickly remember throttle control again to insure smooth roll on the throttle. Also the new ones have that alien headlight maybe thats whats making it suck haha.

    They've honestly been great. They are lined with Kevlar and have knee pads. I wish the ankle was a bit more snug because they get caught sometimes on the pegs, but rarely. Other then that can't beat the price tag, and they are sweet casual jeans at the same time.
