The magical world of Ragas | Sharat Chandra Srivastava | TEDxIIMIndore
Raga is one of the melodic modes used in Indian classical music. In this talk Sharat Chandra Srivastava explains the importance of Ragas in conveying moods through music. With the help of violin, he demonstrates how ragas blend seamlessly into any form of music, thereby creating a universal language with an appeal to one and all.

Sharat Srivastava is a North Indian classical violinist and composer. He is both a Hindustani classical musician and a rock musician. He is part of the Delhi based fusion group ‘Mrigya’ and has toured different parts of the world. He also was a noted member of India’s premier rock band ‘Parikrama’. Apart from performing, Sharat is a visiting professor at the University of Edinburg and Glasgow, where he teaches Indian Violin. His band Mrigya was awarded the ‘Karmaveer Puraskaar’ in the year 2012 as artists for change, and also “TAP WATER” award at Edinburgh festival for promoting peace and harmony, the only Indian music band to have won this award.
