About Me
My name is Brandon Herrera. I'm the owner and operator of The AK Guy Inc, a 07 Firearm Manufacturer based out of Fayetteville, NC. I also co-own Stark Media Group, and designed the rifle known as the AK-50.
I've started to dedicate this KZread channel above all to have fun, but also as a way to document my entrepreneurial journey for the next few years as I try to grow my companies. Hopefully, people can learn from my example, successes, and failures.
Either way, I'm having a lot of fun with it so far, and I hope it's just as fun to follow along!

I've owned my M1 for about a year now and I can honestly say, the thrill and rush of slapping in fresh clips of M2 .30 CAL has yet to get old. It still puts a shit eating grin on my face every time that 8th round is ejected and I hear the tail end of the clip pinging through the air. Also watching cans vaporize and 2x4 target posts explode is almost better than sex. Almost.

I inherited my grandfather's M1 Garand that he purchased from the US Army after he left Korea. I learned how to shoot with that rifle as a kid and because of his guidance I became quite a marksman and qualified EXPERT at the rifle range when I joined the US Marine Corps in 1983. My grandfather warned me early on about "Garand Thumb" and showed me the proper way of loading a clip into the magazine. It took me getting my thumb jammed in the bolt one time for me to learn my lesson. I've never had it happen again.

The M1 Garand saw it's first combat debut during the Japanese invasion of the Philippines in 1941-1942 which culminated with the Battle Of Bataan, Soldiers who were stationed there received them alongside WW1 vintage rifles like the M1917 Enfield and Springfield. Many were destroyed to prevent capture and the garrison surrendered and were treated horribly by the Japanese including the infamous death march.

I don't know how I missed this video. M1 Garand is the hands down rifle Americans need in their collection. I bought my Garand while station at Fort Sill, Oklahoma at a huge gun store in Oklahoma City for $167.00 in 1992. They had Garand, M1 Carbines, and I swear I remember both BAR as well as Thompsons in 55 gallon like wooden barrels. There had to be nearly 100 to weapons in those barrels. All weapons were repatriated from the South Korean Army, refurbished, and sold to Americans for a ridiculous bargain prices, which bring me to tears for not buying nearly all of those weapons to sell them today. My Garand is worth as much $2,400.00 since it was manufactured in 1943, fought/served all through the Pacific, fought/served in Korean War, served with the RoK Army until returned to the US. Good I LOVE my M1. Great Video!!!

So from 1950 until Present, John C. Garand’s design has been slugging it out with Combloc designs. Talk about a Family Feud!

I just got an m1 a few months ago from a guy who didn't know jack about firearms bc his dad never taught him anything, I walked out with a win m97 and a garand chambered in .308 for 650!!!! Unfortunately there's some tweaks I have to make because it keeps ejecting the clip after the 2nd rd. I still need to properly gas it and change out the clip latch spring. It's a very odd garand, it's not from CMP to my knowledge because it lacks the markings on the stock and the barrel is completely blank, it came with the spacer so I knew it was 308 but It's parkerized pristine in a brand new stock. Def not ww2 but Korea maybe?

@@chibbacurley62 From what I can remember, the US Navy did convert some M1 Garands to .308 Winchester by means of a chamber insert, but my understanding was that this conversion met with indifferent success because the inserts sometimes came loose. As far as identifying marks on the barrel, you didn't find anything? And the stock was new? Is the Garand you have made by Springfield Armory? I know that back during the early 2000's, Springfield Armory had begun production on the M1 Garand again for the commercial market, chambered in both .30-06 and .308 Winchester. Parts used for the rifles were from existing USGI stock until exhausted and then they were contracted to be made elsewhere. These rifles were put together very well and were very high quality. Does yours look brand new? I'm only asking because you may have one of the newer rifles.

I guess my father-in-law was lucky because he never got Garand thumb when he used one. When he fought in Korea. Until he got captured by the Chinese and spent 27 months 17 days in a POW camp. He did see and of course hear guys get it. He warned his son about it when he started shooting one for fun. And he never got it either. Love your channel keep it up.
