Nowadays, that seems more common: people in the fandom making fanon that is actually better than the official and is much better written.

I also think the main reason MariChat is the most popular is that it's the least problematic. Don't get me wrong this is my favorite for this exact point, neither one is obsessing over the other and they can just talk like normal people without Cat Noir being overly flirtatious and Marinette being overly invasive which allows the audience to feel chemistry between the two.

That's why I ship it. The other ships have a "shallowness" about them. In MariChat Marinette herself without the stuttering and Chat more relaxed (neither "perfect" or pushy flirty.) They're themselves so it seems sweeter and more real.

YOU ARE SO VALID AND TOTALLY RIGHT ABOUT MARICHAT Chat Noir is Adrien's true self and Marinette is Marinette's true self. Something you didn't touch on but can be expanded from that point is: the two are in love with the other's *facade*. Adrien is the model, the perfect son, the restricted side of him that he hates. Ladybug is all responsibility and trying her best to be a role model, which I'm sure can be stressful to her. They both need to learn to fall in love with the sides of the other that express their true selves -- not the perfect facades that they put up.

Ladynoir isn’t my favorite ship in the show, but I’ve heard from a lot of people that the reason why they love the ship so much is BECAUSE they don’t know each other. They’re willing to put so much trust in each other when they don’t even know their real names and I think that kind of relationship dynamic is interesting.

When you said that Marichat should be the focus of the show, I finally understood why I had been so 'obsessed' with this specific relationship dynamic in the context of the show. The Lovesquare is the series' biggest crutch but at the same time it's its biggest handicap; the main reason people watch the show is because the "will they/won't they" dramatic irony is addicting to watch, but at the same time, the series can't progress until Marinette and Adrien start growing as characters and working on their relationships with each other. With the format of the Lovesquare, this goal is impossible to achieve. Ladynoir/Adrienette is inherently one-sided and Ladrien is pretty much both parties' ideal versions of each other (and also kind of boring). Marichat is the only way out of this problem because it allows for both characters to get over their unhealthy feelings with each other and genuinely become close without all the extra bullshit in the other 3/4s of the square. It's the only dynamic that allows both parties to actually be real with each other and genuinely bond, and it's such a shame that's its virtually nonexistent in the show because it has *so* much potential from a character and relationship writing standpoint. The only way for the show to move forward is if the characters actually start to grow up or if the writing team rips off the reveal-bandaid, and unfortunately, neither seem likely.

EXACTLY- Mari is pretty stalkerish and her crush on him lowkey seems A BIT shallow, and so does Cat Noir's crush on Ladybug (for me). Adrien also has a lot of struggles with relationships, especially because of his relationship with his father so he doesn't really know to do in one, which is why I want them BOTH to grow out of their habits and form a healthy relationship. Start off as friends --> lovers. AHHH- I honestly hope Marinette is able to open up to Chat about how she feels as if she had to meet everyone's expectations (kinda like how she cried with Luka) and I want Chat to open up to Mari about feeling insecure and not important in regards to partnerships and friendships. NEXT SEASON BETTER HAVE CHAT NOIR IN IT OR ELSE IM LITERALLY DROPPING IT. PLEASE JISFAJSFSKl

LITERALLY- the show has gotten themselves so far into the two of them loving the facade of the other. Like you said, the only way for them to step out of the hole they've dug themselves is to have the two start meeting and loving the other as they really are; Marichat. The fanbase has literally paved the writers a way back to a healthy relationship that helps Marinette mature, and helps Adrien understand emotion and know how to express it. ...... we just need better writing lmao :_)

It's infuriating how this team chose an end goal that had a time limit, one can't sustain this kind of twist for too many seasons. This dance should have gone on for like 2 seasons then the reveal would happen and S3 could be about the aftermath. Relationships can work without drama (biggest example here is Kim and Ron), the fact that they need this drama to sustain the show just shows how insecure they are about everything

marichat is my favorite because it feels like the real them, they can just be comfortable with each other and theres nothing in the way Edit: By real self, i mean that i imagine chat noir is a version of adrien where he doesnt have to be perfect and can have the freedom to joke and play and just be normal that he doesnt have when his dad is controlling him all the time. He doesn't have to try to be perfect, he can be himself. with marinette, ladybug is an alter ego that has to be perfect all the time for everyone, who has so much responsibility and weight on her shoulders not to let anybody down and to protect everyone. Marinette is really a shy, clumsy girl and ladybugs persona probably puts so much pressure on her to be perfect. I like marichat because even though they dont like each other that way, i think it really could blossom to show both sides of their true personas and could form into a true love for who the person is, not who they want them to be

The only thing in the way is the fact that they are the least developed ship and have no chemistry with each other. (In this timeline) I try hard to respect Marichat shipper’s reasoning for favoring it but, I think it’s partially because of wattpad sin fan fiction why the ship is so popular. For people who ship it because of the rooftop scene, I completely support that. But the people who turn fan fiction into canon, and the people who keep throwing around the term “real self” is absolutely SAD.

@@22injic yeah, i guess i understand! I guess people just like to dream because they feel the show has bad writing so they enjoy imagining what could have been. I really like the rooftop scene because, although chat and mari are pratically strangers, i think its really nice they can relate to each other and find comfort and solice in each other. When chat takes her in his arms to take her to show her the spot he made for ladybug, she just hugs him and gets the most comfortable smile. I really like that shot because i can tell from that that mari really does love chat (as a friend) and finds comfort in his friendship. I think if they allowed that relationship to grow it would really be such a comforting, safe relationship where they can express their insecurities to each other

@@22injic also, For me, I like to imagine that adrien, as Chat noir, doesnt have to try to be perfect for everyone all the time. Perfect for his father, the perfect boy, etc. Hes free to have fun and be himself without all the expectations on him. And for marinette, when shes ladybug shes very confident and over the top but its not her true self. As Ladybug, the protector of paris, she has to be perfect. Her true self is a socially awkward, insecure clumsy girl. I like marichat because it does feel that they can just be themselves and not have to try to fit up to some quota. Mari doesnt have to be perfect ladybug and chat doesnt have to be perfect adrien.

It's just a one dimensional love square. It looks so complex but is really two people in a will they/won't they relationship

I honestly feel that the romance in the show would've turned out better if it had been a slow burn from the beginning as opposed to the main characters planning their weddings the first time they laid eyes on each other. Kind of like how Adrien and Kagami's relationship started slow and grew more genuine as they got to know each other, the romance between Marinette/Adrien and Lady Bug/Chat Noir might have gone better if they had gotten to know the other before deciding they want to date them. If ifs and ands were pots and pans there's be no work for writer's hands, I suppose.

A slow burn romance could still have worked if they actually tried. Cause Adrien could slowly fall for Marinette while Ladybug slowly falls for Chat. And as they realise their old crushes were turning them into creeps and try to get over them, the love square slowly gets uno reversed, and now Adrien likes Marinette, and Ladybug likes Chat. And then bam! The Reveal happens! This girl Adrien likes is the girl he used to obsess over! And the guy Marinette likes is the guy she used to obsess over! And then they can actually date while working to defeat Hawkmoth.

@KENYA GOUSSE uno reversed as in... normally the lovesquare goes clockwise. if you use the reverse card, then lovesquare goes the other way anti clockwise... cause that's how the reverse card in UNO the card game works. I thought I explained it pretty well in my original comment....... But I guess maybe you've never played uno who knows. And... Master Fu can't take away their miraculous once he's gone off to retire without his memories. (Or you know.. It's too dangerous to have new inexperienced holders since Hawkmoth is so strong. Or Tikki and Plagg refuses to leave... There are loads of reasons not to take the miraculous.)

Would have to HARD disagree on the Ladynoir not really being friends, I think they're really close friends. I see Ladybug as really admiring Chat in a platonic way. I wouldn't really like to see them get together b/c... superhero, but I really like their dynamic. I get not liking it, but i dont really get it lol. If i did want ladybug to fall in love with chat itd be something slow and more like "wow i like my friend". i feel like its p similar to marichat, except in marichat chat noir isnt crushing. for marichat i just like chat and marinette being dorky around each other skjkjfkjgfkj

True! There’s definitely a friendship there. I feel like she just gets annoyed because he takes so many advances to ask her out and makes stupid puns during serious situations (this is the same as the 90s show Family Matters with Urkel and his crush Laura!) However, I’d really appreciate it if the show made Ladybug make more acknowledgements of Chat Noir making sacrifices and being a good partner, AND to also make Marinette stop spitting on him when she’s talking to Adrien (in civilian form) just because she likes Adrien better.

I gave up on Ladybug treating Cat Noir even with basic human civility let alone actually being a friend to him. I'd go so far to say she's the kinda girl your mom tells you to stay away from when you go away to College. Just as much as Lila is.

(they are French after all) Marinette Kissed Adrien on the cheek at the Picnic Cat Noir kissed Ladybug on the cheek on the Roof top date Marinette and Cat Noir kissed each other on the cheek at Brunch Ladybug kissed Cat Noir on the cheek when they were trying to fool Glaciator Ladybug Kissed Cat Noir during Dark Cupid Ladybug kissed Adrien on the cheek during Oblivio Ladybug and Cat Noir kissed during Oblivio Heck Marinette and Chloe even kissed LOL There may be some more I forgot too. As for the Friendship thing - that is because "Friendship" has a very high status to Adrien who grew up with Chloe as his only childhood friend.

A good analysis, however, Chat Noir calls Marinette "Princesse" during Evillustrator in the French version of the show, so technically it is a canon nickname... It just depends on which version you use

It's toxic but not because of what he did in chat blanc. Someone's bad actions don't say much about them as people. Now you said in order for his negative emotions to take over they need to exist already with the normal person. I think the only thing that needs to exist in order to take over is the sadness that she doesn't love him, that's the only thing that needs to come from him in order for it to take over. So the only thing that already exists / the only thing coming from him is the sadness that she doesn't love him. The rest (meaning the whole if I can't have you, no one will) is the Akuma

What I mean is that when people get akumatized, it's enough for them to just be sad in order for the Akuma to make them want to hurt people. Usually, the thing that comes from the person is just sadness (like with André, he was just sad that Marinette didn't like the ice cream), meanwhile hurting other people is what comes from the Akuma (André didn't want others to suffer in the SLIGHTEST, but the Akuma still made his akumatized version want to do it anyway, so the wish to hurt others came from the Akuma only, not in the slightest from André). Now there's cases where the wish to hurt others does actually come from them (like Lila in the season 2 finale, she didn't get akumatized willingly but the wish to do what she did as Volpina was clearly also with who she really because after the she was deakumatized she was still happy about what she did) But my point is that the problematic things you do as an akumatized villain don't have to be part of who you are they can really come only from the Akuma which André proved. So when he was chat blanc the only thing that came from him was the sadness that Ladybug didn't love him, the wish to destroy everything came from the Akuma ONLY

LadyNoir to me is my favorite pairing because the longer we see them together, we see how well they work as partners. I still think back to when Ladybug said she can't do anything without Chat Noir. A lot of moments in Season 1 showed that these two felt very close to each other of the pairings. Even if they feel like co-workers that don't see each other outside of work, there's moments them just hanging out in the background of episodes or having cute banter that shows that these two have become closer as the seasons go on.

Tbh they’re actual children so it’s normal that all their relationship options are questionable at best. How many 14 year olds get in a relationship and then keep that long term? They’re not fully developed as people yet. At any moment, they could change and then the relationship will no longer work. And kids have poor grasp of long term consequences. Relationships require a lot of long term planning. I find it weird that kids shows about children have such a heavy focus on romance all the time. But that might just be an asexual interpretation.

well this is my opinion.. but 14-16 years old is about freshmen high school age and alot of the people i know and have met have actually married their highschool sweethearts so i don't think its too questionable... but i guess that just comes with different experiences and environments people have grown up in.. so i can understand where your coming from even though its not exactly how i think and not how i personally see romance at that age....... just felt like sharing another perspective is all so take what i said with a grain of salt.

I'm 16 and started the show when i was 14. I think me and people my age definitely aren't fully developed at people yet and have a lot of personal growth to do but we understand emotional complexity and working on ourselves to make a relationship work feels pretty common to me. It doesn't succeed every time but everyone is still trying, so it feels only natural to expect that from mlb characters :)

I used to be cringey, obsessive, and insecure when I was Marinette's age. The first time I had a relationship that lasted longer than a month was after I turned 20. My experiences probably aren't universal because I'm autistic, but most people don't marry the person they date when they're 14.

Me discovering the show from the fanbase: *Marichat forever* The actual show: *Dissapointment*

I also think that MariChat is so amazing in the eyes of the fandom because the other ships that have been introduced to the audience so far all have issues. Adrinette- Marinette can't get a sentence out and Adrien doesn't see her as more than a potential friend. LadyNoir- Chat is in love with LB, but LB won't let it go past flirting. Ladrien- They can't get over their crushes so the idea of talking with these identities is out of the question. With MariChat, none of these issues are presented. Neither of them are too enveloped in the other because of a crush, so their communication comes off the easiest.

It is possible to write good Ladrien it takes some skill but it is possible - the fic where Marinette runs away from home after being expelled and ends up sleeping on Adrien's couch is pretty good for example.

my frustration with the show is that in canon, none of the actual characters except Adrien and Chloe are appealing to me. Now, not *together*, not in the slightest, but it's the idea outside of the show canon that makes me really fall in love with Marichat and Ladynoir. Outside the canon, these characters are shown so much healthier, and in fan fiction realise their mistakes and regret and grow. Basically Thomas Astruc as been outshone by a bunch of internet fangirls.

@@airevity On wattpad there's this author with the username "mlbbabygirl" and she makes some *wonderful* MariChat stories. She had this really popular one named 'Passions Burn' but like yesterday someone clutching their pearls reported it and It got taken down for I guess being *too explicit* or something? I still really don't know what happened or why and probably neither does the author at this point.

I dropped the show due to the accessibility and was disappointed with the writing & shipping. I remember reading a few marichat fanfics and it was good, even better lol. This show had lots of potential from characters to shipping. I would love to see the healthy rom relationships (for once in media) but that’ll never happen with the course it’s running. Oh well, hopefully people take this as a lesson (of what not to do) in writing ships/relationships.

As someone who's main ship is Ladynoir, I'll try to explain the appeal: As superheroes they are both more confident and strong, and as it seems to me, more free, even though they have their duties. They work well with each other on daily basis, cooperate and learn each other's ways of thinking. Where you see distance of working together, I see getting closer because of working together. They care for each other and they already consider each other friends, and ladybug already knows how Cat feels, So it's got potential.

Ladynoir is actually a very interesting case to me as a relationship in general. While the series *doesn't flesh out the pairing well as time goes on due to Astruc's absurd bias to Ladybug*, there is potential for them to grow as characters by being a pairing. Setting aside my interest for unrequited love, I can imagine them going through a slow burn and just slowly learning how to adjust to each other aside from being partners (such as having arguments and dealing with emotions that have been caused by events outside their superhero personas as well as matters that are related to their roles by chat noir being set aside by Ladybug and labeled as nothing more than her "sidekick"). They could of as well have interesting night conversations during their patrolling and slowly grow into each other while still trying not to reveal too much information about their personal lives. Chat could fall for Ladybug and feel the pressure in his chest thaw because of how freed he feels just by talking and looking at her (yet this won't excuse him from the fact that he still lowkey idealized her until it slowly lessens as time passes by) whereas Ladybug just genuinely likes having him around and feel herself enjoy his presence more and rely on him (excluding superhero duties) when necessary. They could listen to each other's ideas and learn more about the way the other acts due to the time they spent together as partners. Even though they shouldn't reveal too much about themselves, they still can't help but to be intrigued about who they might be (and yet they push these thoughts back in their minds until late night.) It's not easy, knowing how Chat can be emotionally vulnerable and Ladybug is one of the reasons why he'll push himself to become a better and stronger person. Ladybug will learn to trust her partner more despite his feelings for her which started from infatuation, then lowkey unhealthy dependence, until it becomes a reason of him becoming the best he can be and forming a genuine connection with her. Marinette would also slowly improve as a person with her relationship with Chat Noir being one of the great factors. Imagine the overdose of fluff we could get... One day, Ladybug will realize how attached she's become to Chat and might even start pushing him away, not wanting to acknowledge the seeds of her affections that are blossoming. TL;dr It's just me going on about the pairing's potential but this only shows how they are supposed to be the most interesting to explore And of COURSE it doesn't happen and we get Chat having unhealthy affections, Ladybug being pandered by the narrative as always, and Chat being treated as nothing more than a sidekick to throw to the sidelines for Ladybug to steal the spotlight and save the day once again. Forgive me for going on lol I know it's too unrealistic but 😭😭😭 I do agree with Marichat being one of the most interesting pairs in the series along with Adrigami. I don't like Lukanette because of how bland Luka is and how he's only there as a plot device for romance without showing something interesting to the table that's actually relevant to his character. (Unless the series proves me wrong though I expect the results to be underwhelming)

Great analysis! The thing that gets me with the lovesquare isn't just the toxic behaviors, but that in three of the four ships at least one person gets put on a pedestal. Especially for Adrien who has a strong reaction to disappointment. Being with a partner who thinks you can do no wrong makes it really hard when you do something wrong because you are human. I think marichat is so popular in the fandom because it takes into account the two becoming mutual friends first and then realizing their feelings run deeper, leading to a more realistic and healthy romance. And it also has potential to move, whereas the others tend to stay put in the can't speak/awkward blushes stage. Which is great for fluff but not great for storytelling. Stay peachy!

A problem with Marinette’s and Chat’s behaviour is that it IS a kid’s show,is it really a good idea to show kids who are still learning that there idols handle there crushing with stalking,overly obsessive behaviour and other problematic shit?

fanon marichat just hits differently b/c they can actually bond w/out their crushes on adrien/ladybug interfering they get to be friends first , without either chat or marinette accidentally sabotaging it by pushing their friendship to be more , and they get to be themselves w/out their crush baggage interfering . adrien finds out that marinette is a cool , confident person w/ her own passions , and marinette gets to see a more serious , genuine side of chat noir . i think both of them see what attracted them to adrien/ladybug , but they can appreciate the other person w/out a crush interfering

I wish creators stop making the main characters getting together the climax of the story. Why does every cartoon show basically end when the character that were ship get together? It is honestly so frustrating to me because it acts like getting into a relationship is the hard part and after that it is all smooth sailing for them. NO REAL RELATIONSHIP IS LIKE THAT THOUGH!! There's misunderstandings, people get upset and hurt, you have to figure out how to balance yourself around the person you're with where you give yourself enough time to enjoy things without them and set aside to be with them. There is a learning curve with every relationship of learning how to be with someone especially the first one but creators rarely show that aspect. Just because the main character get together doesn't mean there isn't a plot device to keep people engage in the show, you can easily still create conflict especially when dealing with Adrian who didn't have parental love and affection while Marinette did have those things. She can realize that he has insecurities and fears and how she idolize him in her head but he was actually someone who was dealing with things and she comes to terms with how she never thought about what type of person he actually was and how surface levels her feelings were for him that she just assumed things about him. Or Adrian not knowing how to feel about being with someone who is the guardian and how she always have to be putting others before herself no matter what and risking her well being for them and how he would be afraid of losing her like he did his mom. THERE'S STILL PLOT EVEN AFTER THEY GET TOGETHER! I'm so tired of shows ending with characters finally getting together with so much left unsaid

Some of the most cute fan fics are post reveal pre-relationship. But I also like them struggling with University life or preparing to have their 1st child. That is why I want them to show Aged up LB & CN as a couple show us Future Bug & Future Cat - that would be a big compensation for the show ending to soon post relationship. Though they seem to be saying there is going to be a sixth season and season 5 is when they couple up. They can cheat though and have Adrienette couple up without a reveal I guess. - but they really should have at least a one sided reveal by the end of season 5 (likely Marinette knowing first) due to the implied context of the "Wall Between us" song. I would also say just ending the show after Hawkmoth is outed would really suck too - Adrien has so much baggage to deal with as yet.

My favorite ship is Marichat because they both like there true selfs.

I would LOVE for Ladybug and Adrien to confess their love for each other, enter a secret relationship because obviously Ladybug won't risk Adrien's safety by letting anyone know he's dating her, and then realize they've put each other on a pedestal which has warped their perception of the other, and the person they're with now is different from the person they thought they were entering a relationship with. And so they are forced to reassess EVERYTHING. That's the only take on Ladrien i really wanna see.

I really hope the writers don’t mess up season 4 Its highly likely but they did hint and say as a spoiler a marichat kiss would be featured??? So hopefully season 4 goes in the direction of Marinette actually focusing on herself and getting to know the side of adrien that is chat noir, and adrien getting to know the side of marinette that is ladybug.

I saw a spoiler for lady noir romantic moments in season 4 and in my opinion I think that lady noir it’s just better and makes sense as if it was marichat and Marinette loved chat noir then wouldn’t that mean she loved him as ladybug as well but doesn’t want to admit it and I feel that there is way more ladynoir moments than marichat in my opinion I think it would be better and cuter no hate one marichat just what I think and from the spoilers I’ve seen for season 4

Ladynoir would be adrien only liking ladybug and ignoring marinette. She wouldn’t be happy dating him as ladybug alone. I think the best we can hope for with season 4 is after much gnashing of teeth Marinette will finally put her money where her mouth is and admit she's treated Cat Noir poorly and try to involve him more and be an actual friend to him. That is what I "would hope for" But because Thomas is Thomas : What I "expect" will happen is she will use Cat Noir as Ladybug and quite possibly as Marinette as well as a tool for the improvement of her own mental health - while continuing to give very little back - cat will be happy as she is letting him bask in her presence - but in reality she's just doing what she's always done use him for validation and as a crutch & she will therefore continue to not give two hoots about his well being and likely just use him like she uses Luka . Every time I think Marinette can't possibly get any worse - she proves me wrong; So not I am saying prove me wrong lass by not living up to all my worst possible expectations. But if you just look at what she's done and make a list it starts to make Lila look a lot better than she really should by comparison. - So yeah don't make your protagonist quite so easy to compare to the school sociopath and the School Bully.

MariChat is my favorite ship bc its literally just them being themselves. Marinette is not some clumsy, shy girl around Chat Noir and she just shows who she is without any pressure and Cat Noir allows himself to be more sensitive and vulnerable with Marinette, and he lets his guard down since he isn't really trying to sweep her off her feet. I really do hope we get marichat in season 4 bc I much prefer them falling for each other like this (bc lets face it, ladybug has been rejecting chat noir for the longest time, but the second she finds out he's Adrien, she'll treat him differently. Same goes with Adrien, he doesn't think of Marinette in anyway BUT as a friend and when he finds out Marinette is ladybug, he instantly changes his mind and goes after her). Marichat is really the best way for them to fall for each other without being influenced by the idea that marinette has of Adrien and the idea Adrien has of Ladybug.

I like the concept of Ladrien the best. I mean, consider Ladrien without them revealing their identities to each other. Both of them are lying to each other, both of them have to hide their relationship or else Hawkmoth will go after a 'civilian', both of them are, as you've stated, not particularly smart when it comes to each other. You say that Ladrien is the least complicated ship, and I agree it's the least complicated to GET to a relationship, but after that point I think it becomes the most drama-filled ship. That's all fanfiction though, since there's no way they're going to do stuff like that in the actual show. I fully expect it to be 'identity reveal and now it's always Adrientte' which will be disappointing. Oh well I haven't cared about canon in a long while.

Adrienette has place it can go - but to often it's reveal BOOM "They are a couple now" THE END which isn't very interesting. That only works for me post Marichat, I don't buy it as much post Adrienette - at least not unless it follows a one-sided reveal or Adrien love-flipping to Marinette. I don't mind for example if Marinette and Cat Noir are besties while Adrien is trying to chase Marinette and she's sort of just not seeing it happen. That can be fun.

I don’t think Marichat is a made up ship by the fans. I mean it is but it’s isn’t. Hear me out. In the show it certainly isn’t what all the fanfic is making it out to be. The feelings aren’t quite there yet but for any of this to ever work it eventually will have to work. Adrien is in love with Ladybug but Ladybug isn’t Marinette’s personality, it’s more of a persona that she puts on to get the job done. Marinette is in love with Adrien but Adrien still isn’t really Adrien’s true personality. He has to act a certain way because of who his dad wants him to be. When Adrien is Chat Noir he is free to be who he wants or is truly. When Marinette is Marinette that is who she truly is. Both people have fallen in love with the “better” sides of the other but for a relationship to work they need to love their other sides too. Marinette needs to view her relationship with Chat Noir as more than platonic and Adrien has to do the same with his relationship with Marinette and they can work towards that together in the form of Marichat. In conclusion, Marichat is not technically real YET. As a friendship I believe it is but in the future it most likely will develop into stronger feelings. Hopefully they decide to do this before they get together because this needs to happen for a relationship between them to work.

One other way to look at it is this The way someone would act in front of their friends isn't the same way they'd act when visiting their Grand Ma - Adrien is Adrien's visiting Grand Ma "best behaviour" and Cat Noir is his hanging out with rowdy friends self. Adrien was likely a lot more outgoing with his Mother and when he was younger - he's only not like that now after years of pressure put on him by his father.

One might also say that Marinette is trusted by her Parents to be "responsible" but if she actually is or not (when she's not Ladybug) is a whole other questions she hides a part of herself - a not very nice part that is obsessive, and self-centred. Her Parents encourage her to be better - but she really isn't anywhere near as nice as she first appears to be.

I started to get influenced by fanfiction. I always think these relationships are deeper, because I remember that way. It's hard to tell which is which, since I watch the series as it comes out and the first episode came out years ago. I have to say the show is not improving the way I would enjoy it. I guess I'm just here for the fanfictions and fanarts, cause the fandom is really creative and makes stories that are more enjoyable for me than the actual series. You might think I'm in the marichat fandom, you are not wrong ;), but I think I like ladynoir just a little bit more.

Are we ignoring that Luka is just totally fine with Marinette is in love with a different guy and is literally just fine with it even though she has pictures of him on her wall?!?!

Ladrien has so much potential- those two can also have late night meetings where they air out their grievances and talk about their real problems, shattering the perfect images of they had of each other.

I would say "because magic" - But because the show said so seems like a more honest answer after all Mayura isn't even wearing a mask, and 'Uncanny Valley' played a sound clip of Marinette to Adrien and he didn't even notice - even when the masking should not be working as she was de-transformed. Speaking of that scene - It's kinda cowardly that Marinette didn't think to comfort Plagg - Plagg must have been very confused one moment he's being renounced the next minute he's being handed back on a airplane.

This really just said "called it" for so much of season 4

@@90lancaster , I don't think so. Adrien's kinder and more understanding than that. I feel as if maybe they'll grow closer through their broken romances. And Marinette isn't the type of gal who'd jump onto another boy in a split second after a nasty and heart-breaking break-up. It'd take a few months of interaction at least. And remember, the protags are adolescent kids! :D

So it turns out Adrien was so indifferent to Kagami's distress that it just makes me wonder again if he's a Sentimonster, and he only responds to Ladybug / Marinette as they count as Magical beings. He also wanted Chloe & Mr. Ramier to be akumatised, so yeah. not so high on the perfect scale in season 4 now he's not.

A good story takes its' time but also knows when to move on. There are so many good stories that execute plot twists and advance the story well. But these stories knew when to do it. If they had not taken their time, then we wouldn't care. Miraculous have definitely taken their time. But if they had dragged out these twists like Miraculous, then there is no reason to care about the story anymore. Why keep watching when there is nothing new? You can easily skip multiple episodes with no significant progression in the overarching plot while the general plot is the exact same. Even if you care about these characters, why would you be invested in these episodes when nothing changes?

I forgive Marinette and Chat Noir because they are not so much toxic as they are immature. Marinette actually does a better job of talking to the boy she has a crush on than I did at 13 (since she actually talks to him). I also forgive them because they slowly get better. In the season 2 they manage to develop genuine friendships with their crushes and in the season 3 finale they finally give up on unhealthy pursuit of people who don't love them back. In the New York special, Chat Noir shows he can respect the boundaries Ladybug set, and Marinette makes a geniuine effort to be a caring friend to Adrien rather than a creepy stalker. At this point Adrien and Ladybug are doing at least as much to keep Adrienette and LadyNoir alive as Marinette and Chat Noir are, which gives me a lot of hope that in season 4 slow-growing, mutual love will start to replace the one-sided crushes in both these pairings. Marichat is the most appealing quadrant to me too but I don't think it works as a stand-alone ship. Instead, it's important because of its impact on LadyNoir and Adrienette. In Glaciator, Marinette realized that Chat Noir was actually in love with Ladybug whereas before that she assumed he just liked to flirt shamelessly with every girl he met. (After all, he flirted with Marinette in Evilistrator.) After that, Ladybug stops doing things like hitting him with her yoyo, dropping him on his head or mocking his romantic advances. After Marinette tells Chat Noir she loves him in Weredad, the way Adrien looks at Marinette gets noticeably warmer (ex. after she yawns in Startrain) and he starts to sound regretful when calling her 'just a friend' as if he wishes all those pictures of him on her walls meant she was in love with him rather than just that she's interested in fashion ;-) Marichat also makes a good gauge for whether the "unrequited" love in the adjacent quadrants is actually unrequited, because all the affection and trust we see in Marichat interactions in the show is actually Adrien's feelings for Marinette and Ladybug's for Chat Noir, and there is definite progress there from one season to the next.

Ladynoir is my favorite pair because, and you cannot change my opinion on this. SUPERHEROES ARE AWSOME AND NORMAL PEOPLE ARE BORING.😂😂😂😂 (kinda joking but ladynoir is still my fav ship)

i'm tired of Astruc trying so hard to convince us that we wouldn't be able to write this show better than them because "they created it, so they know it better than we do". that's the whole point of things like fanfiction! (and fandom discussions like these) without us no one would be maintaining these conversations alive. without us the talks of a chloe redemption arc and a marichat focus wouldn't even be as relevant as they are now. without us most viewers get tired of the same shenanigans in the love square FOR 3 SEASONS (mari attempting a confession. chat insisting for lb to notice him. memory-wipe at the end of the episode. etc.) and the never-happening identity reveal. we don't get tired because we bring new things to the table, which TPTB should be doing, not us! every little issue in this show could be easily fixed if they just listened instead of making fun of us for the amount of fanfiction we rely on. we couldn't care less for fanservice, we just want better writing

I used to love lady noir because I saw it less as a “I wanna see ladybug and chat noir falling in love” story and more of a framing device sorta thing. They don’t date as their superhero personas because that’s fucking boring, they start catching feelings for each other and then they find out they’re each other through some fun or dramatic shenanigans and it’s kinda slow burn and cute and flirty and then I got bored of it too because I realized the “will they won’t they” shit was gonna keep going for like the rest of the series and that was so frustrating I completely lost any kind of interest I had. -Also chat noir’s advances eventually became way too much for me and I no longer wanted him to “get the girl” because it was kinda creep but moving on- I never really considered Marichat because the love square wasn’t something that I liked the hypothetical of, I wanted them to get together for real in the show, and with the nature of the ship being so deep in headcanon it just seemed really ridiculous to me why anyone would like it, “it’s never going to be plausible so why bother” was the mindset I had when hearing and reading about it, it wasn’t realistic to me so I wasn’t invested. Ironically that’s the best dynamic tho, no stalking or overstepping boundaries, no overly awkwardness or unnecessary meanness, and they don’t like each other yet so there’s room for them to become friends and Then fall in love, I just wish it wasn’t also a “superhero guy and civilian girl” trope cause I find that soooo boring, if it was gender swapped I’d probably like it more cause ladybug carrying Adrien to safety makes me _feel stuff_ but that’s not worth all the changes it would generate so idk I still don’t love the ship per say.

I used to like LadyNoir cause unlike Ladrien or Adrinette, there's no speech problems going on with Mari that gets old really fast. Plus, i like how "poetic" chat noir was, like a Shakespeare story. I didnt like MariChat because i couldn't see them crossing the friendship line (and all the fandom stuff is full on relationship which made it unrealistic to me) However, with how... Angry and neglectful Ladybug is towards Chat now, i dont like it anymore. Now, MariChat is top teir especially Glaciator 2 where i can see how it'll develop further.

In conclusion, the show had dramatized them so much that the older fanbase just wants Marinette needs to get a grip and work on her expression of feelings, and Adrien needs to test his feelings and develop better social cues both as Adrien and as Chat Noir.

Funnily enough, I am not familiar with the fanfiction scene but Marichat was also the only side of the couple I liked.

i like Marichat cause of the scene on the rooftop, they were friends that’s it!! no jumbling of words no blushing, just friends. i don’t read the fan fiction and i don’t know the head cannon, the reason i love Marichat is cause they act as themselves and don’t have crushes on each other making everything so easy

My personal ranking for the ships of the love square: 1) Marichat/ Obviously. 2) Ladynoir/ Amazing duo and their chemistry is incredible 3) Adrinette/ They're cute and all, the problem is that marinette is weird asf (but still cute) meanwhile adrien is just blind 4) Ladrien/ They're in love with each other but I find their interactions kinda bland and I don't see much chemistry or character development in their relationship

The best thing about marichat is that chat noir’s moves towards marinatte is as if Adrian is doing them to marinatte when you think about it that way it becomes too exciting like imagine, princess, love talks and emotions, puns and body language it’s just so aaaaaaaaaaa 😍

The problem is with all of the ships outside of marichat is the fact that ladybug doesn’t love chat and Adrien doesn’t love Mari at least not in that way if they were revealed it wouldn’t be loving chat or Mari it would be accepting them because they’re a part of the person you love which is kinda fucked when you think about it because loving a part of someone and repeatedly rejecting and friendzoning the other is not the start to a healthy relationship

The sucky thing with LadyNoir is that Astruc has actually said himself that he hopes Chat Noir can be an example to young boys going forward. That worries me heavily seeing as how Chat Noir acts toward Ladybug in the show. It's gross and it's never called out, unlike Marinette's behaviour toward Adrien. If the LoveSquare is going to happen then both Marinette and Chat Noir need a wake up call, and they need to fall for eachother as MariChat, not any of the other sides. MariChat i literally the only healthy side of the LS and it's depressing.

OH I Hope not as I don't think anyone needs to be given the impression that a girl treating her male friends like that is OK - I had more than enough of that in Doctor Who with Amy & Rory thanks very much. & Rory like Cat Noir every time he was given a chance to shine it's soon taken away from him. exactly like with Cat Noir - he's never allowed to cast a shadow on Ladybug's brilliance.

@@cryingwhale1704 I would say there has been a time or two i'd thought "What the hell are you doing pay attention before you get someone killed". There is some excuse for it I've heard which is he's "lightening the mood" to keep Ladybug from getting stressed out - if she's chiding him for making puns in th emiddle of a battle she's not thinking "OH MY GOO I'M GOING TO DIE !!" and she did kinda totally freak out in 'Origins' - so that is one excuse. Another one would be that Adrien is kinda childish sometimes. - But it is a legitimate grievence that his behaviour can sometimes be contextually inappropriate. if done during combat. I don't think Ladybug minds in the slightest if he does it in non-combat sitiuations - but I also suspect it would put her off from spending time with him outside an Akuma attack for that reason. But he's no where near as bad in Season 3 - he's toned it down a lot. I noticed that especially as when he was acting like a bit of a pillock over the rose in the New York Special or when she's saying he'd date himself in Weredad - he just sounds like a loon. but that is only like 3 time in over 100 episodes he's acted like an ego maniac loon. The worst things he's done are the "Take the highroad" comment as Adrien, and the Abandoning and blackmailing ladybug during a battle over Master Fu ; He likely deserved to have his miraculous taken away for that to be honest - that was TO FAR !. I don't think Adrien;s idolisation is sexual as such - even if he might like her physically too - I think he's more in "admiration" with her than in lust with her. He's super impressed by her and doesn't really see her bad side - or if he does he discounts it as meaningless to his regard for her. Is it healthy - perhaps not - but is it worse than Marinette is to Adrien - I don't honestly think it's much different really. I suppose Marinette might actually stop if Adrien rejected her - where as Cat Noir just takes any rejection as NOT NOW rather than no. If he believed with a bit to much enthusiasm and didn't give her - some space then yeah it would be the most toxic thing imaginable & some anti-Adrien salt has really gone to town on those points. I think if he went To far to often even Plagg would eventually pull him back from it - as much as Plagg likes a bit of Chaos - he'd not seriously want to hurt Marinette as he is kinda fond of her. Tikki is not covering herself in glory mind - by encouraging Marinette to pursuit Luka - when I don't think either of them have really considered the matter in detail before hand. So I'll conclude by saying that as it stands up to season 3 the path of progress I see is Adrien/Car Noir is getting less toxic in his interactions as Cat Noir & worse as Adrien. and Marinette is half heartedly attempting to be better - but kinda failing at it as Marinette - and as Ladybug she's just a little pile of ego and aggression. with a thin veneer of polite interest slapped on top. I have said this before but I get the impression that Marinette currently has no desire to spend time with Cat Noir outside of battle and - maybe that is his behaviour putting her off - which to be honest is perfectly fair - but maybe you know - they could talk to each other about how they see each other and try to get along better. Maybe they could patrol or train or even just have an evening meal with each other on a roof and chat like friends. Canon is VETY vague on that point - maybe they do this maybe they don't who knows. I don't think I will accept Ladybug or Marinette actually like Cat Noir until she actually start feeding him. But I won't shy away from LB having plenty of problem of her own - the whole hitting Cat Noir thing isn't at all good imagery for a start.

It's definitely the trust and banter that made Ladynoir the top pick for me. I love how despite Chat sometimes annoying Ladybug, it's clear that she does care deeply about him. She sometimes amuses him by playing along with his jokes, calls him pet names, and is visibly shaken whenever he gets hurt or sacrifices himself. Maybe it's one-sided in the romantic department right now, but the mutual care is undeniable, and I love that so much. They work well together, and they trust each other deeply. Even if they meet a few roadblocks here and there, I love how they always manage to make up by the end of it. Plus them not knowing each other's identities at first makes it even better. Ladynoir is definitely close, and I hard disagree on the part where you say they don't feel like friends. Even if not quite romantically yet in Ladybug's part, it's very clear that they care deeply for each other. Plus I love the idea of Marinette's entire idea of Adrien flipping upside down when the reveal happens, knowing that he was her beloved pun loving catboy all along.

Duuuude you are so right about Marichat I am converted. Used to think Ladynoir was great but that's just from the fanfictions I read lol, kinda gave up on them after season 3. I guess that's true with Marichat too though. But still, Marichat is pretty litty.

In my opinion I think ladynoir is quite possible to happen in season 4 because within season 3 ladybug and chat noir have become closer together and ladybug has open up to chat noir more and they can understand each other better near the end of season 3 I think that ladybugs feeling for chat noir have become stronger as she doesn’t mind when he kisses her hand, she hugges him, and also in season 2 in the episode glaciater after chat kisses her on the cheek you can see her blush and in the episode weredad Marinette says to chat that ladybug is really lucky to have you indercating that she doesn’t want chat noirs feelings for ladybug to stop, they have learned to trust each other and understand and relate to one another and I think that as the show progresses we will see them getting closer together and hopefully in the end ladynoir will happen as I’ve seen spoilers from miraculous

@@tillyandabbieplays1929 Yeah, I agree with all that you've said, and I suppose if Adrienette is canon then somehow Ladynoir will be too, but I just don't feel invested in it anymore, you know? Their dynamic is cool, but the show has done almost nothing with it for so long that I don't really feel the want to root for them anymore.

I would definitely have to say marichat is my favorite even though there is like zero screen time, but idk just the idea with less awkwardness in the two. Ladrien is my least favorite bc they are just awkward and cringy and I don’t want to see that constantly. Adrienette is good and ladynoir is fine. Idk marichat is them possibly falling in love with their truest selves

First of all, I think it's really cool that you as a LS shipper actually talk about the problems with the square, bc I really don't see that often. Like, people out there really claim that Chat isn't actually harassing Ladybug which, as someone who has experience with pushy friends, makes me really upset. I guess that's also the reason why Ladynoir is my least favorite ship out of the square. The suspense of disbelief argnuemt is really interesting, bc for me personally, it doesn't work for relationships. At first, I really liked the love square and the different dynamics etc. and I could forgive the problematic behavior bc 1. it's exaggerated as you said and 2. I expected them to frow out of it. But as the show went on, I felt like both Adrien and Marinette actually became more toxic and some episodes like Glaciator, Frozer, Ladybug, Pupeteer 2, Reflekdoll etc kinda threw me off. Then there was an even bigger issue: Lukanette and Adrigami. Like, personality wise, they made sense and by normal standarts, these were healthy dynamics (or at least healthier than the Love square) and what's more important, I wasn't convinced that they wouldn't work out if you remove the problem with secret identities. That's why since season 4 I completely jumped ships and honestly came to dislike the square. At this point it's super repetitive, fan service episodes make me hate it even more (Glaciator 2 was super disappointing) and I really don't know how the writers could write the finally getting together in a satisfying way. Idk maybe I'm too bitter or my standarts for ships are too high but well, I'll just stay in my bubble of the Lukanette endgame tag on AO3 and enjoy myself:) Great video, hope you have a nice day!

Like in the gamer episode she let Adrien come to her house and sit next to her and play games but couldn't sit next to him on the plane in the New York special. I hate how the writers refuse to add character development to the story because they're stubborn

MsLilly200 fair point, but Rather or not that Chloe and Lila are liked, my point was that since they both like Adrien and that they've done or tried to prevent Marinette and Kagami from even confessing or interacting with Adrien kind of makes them apart of the love rival shananigan, but it was just a dumb joke I made and I apologize if my joke upset you.

I just watched 3 of your vids regarding Miraculous Ladybug and I've decided that I love you therefore I shall subscribe

I’m back to my miraculous addiction(i stopped till s2 and waited for s3 for a few months so now we’re here) and can I just say i have always been (and still am) a marinette-adrien ladybug-cat noir shipper. But i love how you dissected the ships into a love square and by far my top pick is the fan-favorite MariChat!! Definitely would love to see them in their raw state of their truer selves (if that even makes sense) and progresses into a deeper relationship. Can’t wait for the next season and upcoming special episodes too!
