That ‘sorry’ gets me every single time

Haven't watched this scene in so long and now Im crying again. Every aspect of it was so heartbreaking. There's that moment where Jimmy sits down and you see in his eyes when it stops being about acting in the show, and when its just himself singing about Kyle. Add in everyone's reactions on the side, Karen slowly coming over and simply sitting next to him, and his voice faltering as he begins to cry and finally cracking on "Stay", and suddenly youre bawling like a baby. Jeremy Jordan is such a phenomenal actor and he portrayed this scene so beautifully. The first time I saw it I sobbed

Even without context, this song literally crushes my heart. His face and voice breaking as he sings... You don't need to know what has him so broken to break right along with him. I'm bawling, and yet watching it over and over!

This song always hits hard. It conveys everything i feel towards my late auntie. And what she meant to me. My parents split when i was 10. My father was abusive. My auntie was married to my dads brother. A lot of people didnt believe my mother (it was the 90s). But my auntie never judged. My father never offered anything financial towards my mother. She struggled as a single parent. Life was tough. But visiting my auntie was a lifeline. I owe her my love of traveling. Her fridge was covered in magnets. The last i saw or her was when i was 18/19 when i moved away to university. You always think theres time. Life got in the way. She died of cancer. I never got to tell her how much i loved her, and cherished everything she did for us as children. I still have the fridge magnet she gave me from one of her many adventures. Don't wait to tell someone you love them. Tomorrow is never guaranteed.

i still can't believe they canceled this show.

Here I am. Watching old SMASH videos and I bump into this one. I remember this was what Jimmy decided to sing for Kyle. I didn't remember how emotional it was. A year and a half later, Jeremy Jordan has made me cry and feel Kyle's loss once again. That is how great an actor he is. #IMissSMASH

Yeah man you are right I also cried so much this song is so touching song I really love this song

My friend died in a car accident almost exactly a month after this. She was one of those people who was larger than life. People were drawn to her by her openness, laughter, and the amazing love she poured out. I was gone when she died, but this song helped me deal with that regret more than i can possibly say.

I still don't get why they didn't let him sing every song live. Taping him is like trying to take a picture of the moon: you can see what it is but you'll never capture its true beauty.

Recording the song live on set requires a lot of technical aspects, such as the set has to be very quiet in order for the microphone to pick up the singing voice, and the microphone is also different from the regular microphone for spoken dialogue. Watch Les Miserables behind the scene, they explained it better

This song gets me every single time. I found out later that he sang this live, a la Les Miserables the Movie. He wanted to convey the emotion without doing retakes. Smashing job. No pun intended. Miss you Smash!

That explains why it sounded kinda different from the songs in the show

I love how in that episode everytime they were in the "current" time everything was gray-ish and with Kyle everything had this golden hue to it, just like how it says in the song. It's the best part of the show I think.

I remember crying during this episode....everytime I hear this song...I get all teary eyed...how dorky is that

Omg I have never heard such conviction and emotion in his voice. I'm always awestruck by his talent and beauty. Bravo Jeremy Jordan, he deserves to be in the position he is in.

The song was mostly a monologue of his feelings we never really get to see in the show. To answer how he felt about Kyle. In the last episode he screamed only one person in that room loved him. It wasn't the one he wanted. Now with that song he says what he never could to Kyle. It was brilliant. We never get to see his true moment with him. Only the moment when Kyle felt his dream was coming true. Jimmy's unselfish moment of Kyle happiness.

My heart breaks every time. I kept watching for Jeremy. Not for Jimmy, but for Jeremy, his voice, his emotions. Heartbreaking ♥

Even after all these months since the show ended, I still tear up watching this scene.

There is not one time I have heard this song and NOT cried. It's just heartbreaking, and even more so when you watch the video and see the emotion there.

This performance has me crying even after all this time.

even if you didn't watch the show and you didn't know who Kyle was, you would cry watching this because he puts so much emotion in this song you can feel it when he sings. Its beautiful!!!! I really miss this show.

I love this song & the show! This to me was one of the best episodes yet. The songs were perfect choices. I love the way they showed how Kyle had touched the others lives in different ways.

Earlier this year a friend of mine disappeared, a man took her life from us, her light from us...Not a day goes by that I don't think of her, and before this happened we had drifted apart and I never got to tell her that I loved her, I never got to tell her I was sorry...This song means so much to me, because there are no words to express how much I wish I could see her again, and even though I know she's in a better place, I wish I had more time to remind her how loved and important she was. So, always remember to cherish the people around you, tell them you love them, remind them everyday, because you don't know which moment will be the last.

I've never watched this show, but after listening to this song I'm in tears, it's so beautiful! Also I love Jeremy Jordan, he's such a good actor and has the most powerful voice and I love his work on broadway so why not see his work on TV aswell, heard he was on Supergirl too, which gives me an excuse to catch up, I'm SOOOO far behind on this show!

Jimmy is my favorite character in the show. I think it was completely brilliant to incorporate a character who doesn't really know how Broadway works. He is the most realistic character in my opinion, because he doesn't have it all together. (not that the other characters necessarily do) He has problems that so many people can relate to. It's not just the pressure for him, it's his whole being that's fighting against him, but his genius suppresses it. Wonderful character.

I've never seen Smash, but I love Jeremy Jordan, and this song had me in tears.

Vienna was perfect for this show. The lyrics telling him to slow down and see his dream. Which he never did and how he helped Julie feel that spark in writing. So many things pointed to his impact on everyone else. This song so perfect to reflect on jimmy true feelings about his only friend. I can see the point of getting someone off the ledge. Because at some point you realize that pain and never having the moment to true say those words.

I love these kind of episodes. They show his impact he had on everyone. The halo light surrounding the scene shows his pure soul. His kindness to each of them. How they helped him grow. How much he cared. I loved the episode it was very powerful at points. Plus the last memories we all have when someone dies. That one true moment that replays every time they cross your mind.

i'm watching it in the train on the way to my job.... i'm crying as well. ...

this show has been a godsend this week, nothing more so than this song. Currenty in mourning myself I was struggling with what i would say at my girlfriends funeral this week (and I say that not for sypathy but emphasize the point at hand here, and the strength of the song). This song gave me an outlet and gave me a voice, it allowed me to present and project it's feelings, at a time where i've been struggling to find my own, i dont know what id of done without this song or indeed the show lately, but im glad i stumbled across it when I did, the timing couldnt have been any more perfect.

Jeremy is a great singer and interpreter. I miss smash! still i am emotional when I see the chapters.. when I hear the CD at my car.. when I sing the songs... sigh................

I got this season on DVD for Christmas and I loved it. Hartley Rathaway aka Pied Piper (The Flash), Winn (Supergirl), Joe West (The Flash). Jeremy is so amazing, so is Andy (Kyle Bishop)

It was so sad watching this. Its a shame I think scenes like this reminds us what matters in life cos in real life its not hard to forget about what matters is it ?

I haven't watched smash before so I watched this without knowing what was happening in the scene and I was teary-eyed at the end. Then I read the comments and found out what's happening. I watched it again and now I'm weeping

Such a beautiful song that turns into an incredible moment. Very similar to when Jonathan Larson died and Jesse L Martin sang the "I'll cover you" reprise. In the show he sang about Angel but that moment was specifically about Jonathan

For me it starts at "music,you made me hear such music" This song is VERY special to because the man who was supposed tocbe my last "one true love," passed away a mere year after our first date. I never got to tell him just how much he meant to me. A week after he passed (on what would have been his 46th birthday, this song debuted on SMASH.

Smash was one of my favorite shows........I am so sad it is off the air. The level of talent by all involved (cast, crew, directors, writers, producers, etc.) was incredible! The one regret with the show, not having Jesse L. Martin sing on at least one song.

I also loved that it was Jessie.L Martin (A.K.A Collins from original cast of RENT) that was first to want the show to go on that night. Again, a parallel to Larson's passing and the decision to keep the show running in his name and not cancel. :) Had a good smile at that moment.

in the play, she's on the ledge ready to jump and overhears him singing this song. and she doesn't jump. hearing the songs lyrics helped her realize that she needs to stick around to be able to tell the people she loves how she feels and vice versa. the end of his song is when they meet for the first time. after she decides not to jump she comes over to talk to him.
