The Lost Projects

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Have you ever lost a project? Meaning that you started one, or even started the design and then never returned to it? Maybe you had a great idea and then lost interest, or it was too difficult? Maybe it was even something you fully intended to work on but never found the time to go back to it. Well, we are going to address some of our own Lost Projects today and see if we can get them back on track!

The Discord needs a new section for "stalled projects" where we shame ourselves by posting pics of builds we started but never finished.

Dude, you opened my Pandora's Box! Or as I call it, my 'room of requirement' (my wife calls it the garage, I don't know why, we haven't parked a car in it for 34 years!). I used to have one of those t.v.'s but I must have garage sold it. I have way too many projects that have been on hold. My wife isn't as enthusiastic as yours about me making things with 'no purpose'. It was OK when it was for the kids' Halloween costumes. I suppose I really need to clean it out. 😢

Once you open Pandora's box you can't close it!!! As far as making things without a purpose, I challenge that. In some cases the "Purpose" is simply an outlet for the maker. What you make may never be practical, but what it can do for your mental state can help you in many other ways. At least that's how it works for me.

Most hobbies are just doing something without a purpose. You do it for yourself, to clear your mind and regenerate your batteries. My wife sees nothing wrong with it and even supports me by buying tools. Talk to your wife and let her know what positive impact this hobby has on you. Good luck!

That portable TV is the PERFECT base for a large-ish gadget like a mobile computer/comms system or something. I know you've already sorta done that but it just has "Rebellion Portable Computer" written all over it. Maybe it's a super important mobile computer that has top secret information or something idk but it's just too good not to use!

I can relate to this video SOOOOOOO much! I have a ton of items in my workshop waiting for me to get to them, and "Star Wars-ify" them. Every time I go out to yard sales, or thrift stores, I find even more, and I can't just not get them. :)

I bought an old Speak and Spell after you shared your ideas about it. I’ve modeled up several parts for it in Fusion. I was actually looking at it the other day. I was thinking; ‘I wonder if Brian is ever going to revisit this?’. I was also thinking; ‘I’ve gotta really get back to working on this’. I had a few really cool ideas for it. I’ve got a few other ‘retro’ toys/gadgets that I’ve picked up with intents on Star Warsifying them. Maybe I’ll eventually finish SOMETHING.

Regarding the Polaris: you could always do panels ala set design from CreateSciFi and make them magnetic. Maybe even layout your greeblies and replicate a few scaled up in EVA foam, throw in some bendable wire protectors/sheeting and old toolbox lids... Boom Bob's your uncle If you dont wanna do magnets I have some Drifting friends that have used heavy duty Velcro to secure removable car body panels for easy of repair in hard to reach areas too

Damn it. I was thinking to myself earlier, "Its a good thing there aren't more content creators that have channels devoted to clever, fun, and nerdy ideas. I have to many myself, already," but here you are. To prove my bina fides, i just got through making teeth with green stuff. I don't need anymore ideas. Lol Yeah, I've subscribed and rang the bell. This is going to be a bad thing, or the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
