The Lost Links | A Links Diary film

Спорт

Whether it's fate, or just luck, connections which result in the revelation of something entirely unexpected are often the catalyst of a great story. The mystery of a long-lost links on the windswept Northumbrian coast, designed by one of golf's greatest; a young lad playing with his family in the high, sandy dunes of 1970's Lindisfarne. A string of coincidences that will seem contrived, but made more amazing by the very truth of their connections. To appreciate the full story, we'll start with that young lad playing in the dunes of holy Island, just south of Berwick-upon-Tweed, the northernmost town in England. The Links Diary's Jamie Darling.

Well I guess this is how the game was invented - minimal work on coastal land (unlike the ridiculously overwrought artificial hellscapes that make up most golf courses). This is truly great stuff - love it !

I was very moved by the Lost Links. Went back to “A Night At Duck’s” and was struck by the thread of continuity in tone, colour, editing and photography film-work of Graeme McCubbin and the similarities but unique artistic film properties carried on by Isaac Paul. It makes “The last Caddie” very promising for me to watch. The last two films have such genuine, heart-felt first-person stories, with the lush but muted photographic work that I think they would be engaging for everyone, whether golfer or not.

What a fantastic thing to unearth! Great video, would love to see more of this as a hidden James Braid track as that would be epic. Well done guys!!

I'm not interested in golf, not even a bit. But I watched this video from beginning to end. Not only was it so well made that I can learn a lot from it, but the story in itself was so well put together and told a really intersting story underneath the actual story. Thanks.

It’s been tried. Natural England swiftly put an end to any revival hopes unfortunately.

So sad. Natural England do a great job, but sympathetically managed links really can enhance ecology @@thelinksdiary
