OMG!! The Lost Boys changed my life. I was offered a job at the movie theater in my hometown where it played because I came every night for 2 weeks to watch it. One night the manager caught me at the door and asked me if I wanted a job since i was there anyway . I said yes on the spot and went to work the next night. It is amazing to see you guys walking around in these places. I'm gonna have to dig out the dvd and watch it!

I love Santa Cruz. When the Lost Boys was filmed, I was in Jr. High in San Jose. My family would drive down to Santa Cruz on weekends for the beach and boardwalk. When I was old enough to drive, I would go down there with friends. When I was older, out of college and living in San Francisco, I would occasionally drive down along the ocean on Hwy 1 for a cool relaxing Saturday.

If you happen to notice during the movie, all the sudden "David" starts wearing gloves. What happened is during the bike riding on the boardwalk, Keifer saw a girl he wanted to get her attention. So, he was riding wheelies up and down the boardwalk, and then one time he hit the railroad tracks. The bike went flying up in the air and he fell hard on his right wrist. Turns out he broke it in 3 places. They ended up getting a surfboard maker to make a cast, a super-duper thin cast, and he wears gloves to hide it. When "Starr" gets on the back of the bike, was the first time Kiefer drove after the accident, and she ask what was wrong with his hand, he told her it was broken, and she asked if he could do this. He looked over his shoulder and said let's find out, and off they went. Notice at that spot in the film, his brake AND clutch are both on the left-handle bar of the bike. When he got back from the hospital, the girl was gone. LOL

David was wearing gloves from his very first scene of the movie. There wasn't any "all the sudden". No gloves in the beach massacre, the cave where sleeping Marko takes a stake, or in the fight scene with Michael at Grampa's house. Yeah, he broke his wrist and they adapted the bike, but there are zero scenes where you can clearly see it. Ya better look again.

Thanks for that, I enjoyed it. I grew up in Santa Cruz, and my mom took my sister and I to the boardwalk occasionally when we were kids. One time, when I was about 10, we got there, and all of these massive black semi production trucks were parked in front of the Boardwalk entrance. It looked like the CIA had taken over the Boardwalk. Of course it was closed for filming the Lost Boys, but all we could think about was how bummed we were that we couldn't go to the Boardwalk that day. It never occurred to us that we could potentially be extras in the film, although I do remember asking people later what it was like and they said: "hours and hours of standing around drinking coffee, and then a few minutes of shooting a scene.." Maybe if I'd been a little older I could've dealt with that, but at 10, no way. Still a vivid memory though, seeing those black semi trucks in front of the Boardwalk.

I wasnt sure but then he turned around and i almost lost my shit. Of course i had to say something. I praised his movies and told him how much it meant to shake his hand. He was super nice and very humble. Sadly, I could see a sadness in his eyes. He looked at that time already pretty unwell. But still - it was a moving experience from a Lost boy fan (which i saw in theaters in the 80s growing up in Germany). RIP dude

One of the last sentences you said about if someone had told you in the middle of the 90s that one day you would be there, that really hit me hard, not because I have already been there, but because I also remember the 90s with a lot nostalgia for my childhood and in it having the memories of seeing The Lost Boys and thinking that I liked that movie so much even though at that time I didn't even know what its name was, I just watched it on television every time it was broadcast and I enjoyed it so much ; remember it throughout my life as a film that marked me too much and, in a way, feel "proud" that it was part of my childhood and adolescence.
