THE LOST BOYS (1987) MOVIE REACTION - WHAT A BLAST! - First Time Watching - Review

Ойын-сауық

Welcome to our first-time watching The Lost Boys (1987). This movie is not what we expected in the best way possible! This '80s vampire flick caught us off guard.
"The Lost Boys" tells the story of two brothers who just moved to the new costal town of Santa Carla. But little by little they start to unravel the blood-sucking truth. This town is also the home to a group of young, leather jacket wearing vampires. This movie had such a unique blend of genres. It had horror, comedy, and a lot of '80s atmosphere and nostalgia. While offering some unique lore and new twists on the classic vampire.
The performances were fantastic too! Sam Emerson played by Corey Haim killed it with his charisma and Michael Emerson (Jason Patric) was fantastic as the teenager turned vampire! Not to mention David (Kiefer Sutherland) he stole every scene he was in!
We hope you enjoy our reaction and commentary as we delve into this Halloween classic. This movie helped shape the portrayal of vampires in pop culture and the film still holds up!
Join us as we explore the world of the undead with a sense of style!

The frog 🐸 brother were always a jump away. Best vampire movie..but Bella Legosi in Universal 1931 "Dracula" was pretty epic. Twilight nope 🙅🏻 "Interview with a Vampire" great. Bram Stokers "Dracula" okay

Jason Patric, Keifer Sutherland & the Lost Boys were not only gorgeous, they also had the best vampire hair ever! Did any vampires own hair salons in Santa Carla? 🤔🙃😉 As hot as MOST of the vampires were & as cool as the Frog Brothers were, the best character in the movie was Grandpa, who was not only a badass, he also had the best line: "One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach: all the damn vampires." Iconic! Another great movie with Kiefer Sutherland is "A Few Good Men." Kiefer's role was small but crucial. Thanks again! 🧛🦇🩸

However, I did miss your response to one of the best lines: "Wait 'til Mom finds out!" Fun Fact: Jami Gertz, who played Star, said that director Joel Schumacher didn't show her in full vamp mode because he didn't think that girls should kill. If I were playing a vampire, I'd want the full treatment, fangs & all! 🦇🩸 Other suggestions: "Fright Night (1985 version)," "Fright Night 2," "Near Dark," "Once Bitten," "Vamp" & "From Dusk Till Dawn," which stars George Clooney, was written by Quentin Tarantino & directed by Robert Rodriguez.

The first time I saw this was shortly after it come out on vhs. I was around 12 when we rented it. The tape was messed up though, and every time Max said, "it's so much easier if you don't fight," the tape would automatically start rewinding. It was very frustrating and took some finagling to finally see the last 2 minutes of the movie.

I saw it for the first time in 1988. Yes, somehow we lived in a similar way back in the eighties, always celebrating every day as if it were the last, because you never know when the Cold War will start into a hot War. Except for the fact that we didn't suck people dry, I was in a similar mood to those vampires.😂🎉 Every night turned into day and actually just waited for when the Cold War would turn hot. Of course, I also have this film, like a lot of others, in my collection. I'm also just starting to watch special movies from the eighties again. Last but not least, I've seen some reactions from you and yes, I like it.

The film is an adaptation of the Peter Man mythos. Max is Pan, the Mom Wendy. Star is Tiger Lilly. The Brothers of Wendy (Michael and John) are Michael and Sam here. Nanook replaces Nana the St. Bernard. And Grandpa is a combination of Hook and Smee. Director Joel Schumacher said it was one of his favorite films of his career. You folks reminded me how fun this movie is. I gravitated away just because I just thought it was silly. But yes: fun! The movie is directed by Joel Schumacher so that totally explains the visuals. Look at any movie after this and you see the similarities. The beach is confirmed to be Santa Cruz. The streets looked very familiar. I used to go there for concerts. Before 2000, the city definitely had problems with junkies. Then rich people started moving into the area and building expensive homes and were working to get that cleaned up. But the atmosphere of the City is very on point for how it's portrayed. Surprised no one thought to allegorize juvenile delinquency or lost youth using vampirism before this. The classical vampire archetype is both a challenge to accepted mores (ie. sexual, class systems, politics) but all eventually are consumed by the "shadow" personality that is summoned to achieve it. All vampire stories seem to need both "light" and "dark" versions, like this story. Whomever put this together knew what they were doing.
