Explaining the scene with drinking blood. The whole thing is a mind game. David uses his hypnotic power to trick Michael into thinking the noodles are worms and the rice are maggots. So by the time he gets to the blood, Michael is, ofcourse, thinking he's being tricked again, hence his "Yeah, right" attitude. It's also a parody/insult to taking Communion.

That's why the movie is so loved--it's just so kooky, especially grandpa: "All the damn vampires." 😂 It didn't look like it was really working for you the whole time, but I saw you smile at the end like you couldn't help it. It's the weird, nostalgic (for some) 1980s-style trappings that make it kind of unique. No, it's not a great movie with well developed characters, but it doesn't have to be that.

The ending was just one of the easter eggs that reveal Grandpa was also a half blood that whole time too. He was just sired by the widow so when Max was killed it had no effect on him. Both Alen and Sam are also turned in later movies with Sam going all the way to full vampire.

I dont think any hard vampire rules were broken. Garlic etc didnt work on Max because Michael invited him in. I love this movie, as I think most people who saw it as teenagers in the eighties did - hot guys, keifer S a great baddie, and of course the doors connection which is a plus for me. Its got a good mix of sexy-scary, effects used minimally but well, the cool factor and also funny - many lines are supposed to be tongue in cheek - "My own brother. A goddamn, shit-sucking vampire - you wait til mom finds out buddy!" But Ive shown it to a few people in the last 5 years who hated it and called it a silly eighties movie. Granted they were non native English speakers though, and didn`t get the humour. I thought you didnt like it either as you were watching, so cool to hear you actually really liked at the end.

"It was all going to be so perfect, Lucy. Just like one big, happy family. Your boys... and my boys." This movie is a Peter Pan allegory. Max is Peter Pan, Lucy is Wendy, Michael/Sam are Wendy's brothers, the Frog Brothers are Captain Hook/Mr. Smee, and Star is Tinkerbell or Tiger Lily. Once you pick up on the allegory, it becomes a totally different movie. There's been sequels and a remake, but they never understood this concept and just become stupid vampire movies. Fun Fact: This was Corey Haim and Corey Feldman's first film together, which marked the start of a popular "The Two Coreys" trend in which Feldman and Haim starred together in a number of teenage films. Fire Stunt Fact: In the dinner with Max and the Frog brothers, Alan puts out candles with his fingers. Nobody told (Jamison Newlander) that he had to wet his fingers first, so he ended up getting burnt. In later takes, he dipped his hands in a basin of water before putting out the candles. Tourist Attraction Fact: Two men can be seen playing pinball the second time Sam visits the comic shop. The guy with the facial hair is Joe Ferrara II, who actually owned the comic shop Atlantis Fantasyworld. The comic shop has now moved location but is still owned by Joe. The new location of the Atlantis Fantasyworld comic book store, which was featured in the film still carries the original #1 issue of 'Vampires Everywhere' that Sam reads in the film. The comic was created only for the film, and its opening page is signed by all of the cast members from the movie. The owner Joe Ferrara II allows any shopper to hold it and take a photo with it free of charge.

Michael wasn't a full fledge vampire yet he was still in transition until he finally feeds which would make him a full vampire. Like he's in the free trial if you will

Vampires hate garlic, but it won't stop them. Contact with holy water does quite a number on them, though, apparently.
