Richard Davelos, who played Dean's brother in "East of Eden", told me so many decades ago, "... I learned more about acting just watching Jimmy's movements and facial expressions than I could have in an acting class".

I totally agree with you. When Dean died every actor tried to be like him. Even Brando was afraid of him when he was alive and he was keep asking if Dean is better than him as an actor and as a man.

As much as he was a searcher and as much as he embraced the life around him I don’t think he ever came to terms with the lonely boy who lost his mother 😞. He never loved himself as much as others loved him

Thank you for your understanding Tatysa. It was Donald Turnupseed who pulled out in front of JD when fatal death. DT would become a millionaire overnight after his death in his enterprise of refregiration, which was the same line of work of JD's father in East of Eden. James Dean was murdered and not suicidal (through he was withdrawn). However JD did make friends and passed on his resilience to those who believed in him. God's calling is to live for everybody while theyre all living for the no tomorrow.

The 50's were a weird time. It's sad that Dean lost his mom when he was so young and, although it's never said, obviously his dad wasn't in the picture. But this film makes it sound like growing up on a farm and befriending your nephew was somehow sinister.....

Of course he could, and did. He did some comedic work in a few of the over 30 Live T.V. shows he was in in the early 50's before his three Films. Plus he was known to be hysterical IRL, at times, as told to me by a friend of his who just passed away a year ago at 89. Jimmy would have been 91 in 2022.

For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun. Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works. Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment. Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun. Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them. ECCLESIASTES 9:4-12 King James Version 😊
