Many thanks for your research on Dean, and for the entertaining account you give of his all-too-short life. Like KZread content, film is primarily a visual medium. When this emphasis on exteriority is coupled to profit motive, all manner of unsavory things occur due to human nature. Greed plus vanity is a deeply flawed combination, which is why so many talented people choose to leave the Hollywood scene and return to a place of relative sanity before they lose their own mind and/or soul. Do you agree, Ms. Alourde?

My 1988 high-school art teacher was from Marion, IN & went to school with James Dean. He said Dean was a couple years older & would chase him home & beat him up sometimes in grade school. By High School they had become friends and he would run into him at parties or other get togethers. He said that Dean would do odd things out of the blue sometimes. He would be in a conversation with a group at a party, disappear for a few hours, come back & never say a word about where he'd gone or what he'd done. He said he wasn't an actor and that was just him being himself on screen. He didn't remember him being into drama until they heard a Hollywood Talent Scout would be attending the Senior play. Dean ended up in the play & caught the Scout's attention and left for California after graduation. My teacher was amused that Dean had become an icon for being himself.😉

🎯 🎯Not to mention the heavy nepotism of less or more talented kin… it’s a cycle that was obviously turning into a cult like approach… as is any organization that secretly practices too much lowness with pride but presents itself as if the rewards come naturally and with out rig. I remember Jennifer Aniston being quoted in how the appeal of Hollywood is dead. How she remembers a time where people had to do more than what they do online to have a seat at the table. I agreed with her… moments later the algorithms of the same internet she is practically blaming, showed a post about who her father is. A long time actor on general hospital. But remember they keep pushing the narrative behind her and her estranged mother. Regardless of her own toxic family dynamic, so many people including myself thought Jennifer was this break out star. Whole time her daddy got his own record there and been in there.

I'm always amazed at the amount of photographs that exist of James Dean, considering that he had only made 3 movies before his death. I have read before of his personality, experiencing mood swings between high and low, and wonder if he might have been bipolar. It reminds me of what I've read of Vivian Leigh's problems during her career that were later diagnosed as being due to being bipolar. Working in Hollywood, it is hard to tell whether he was gay, bisexual, gay-for-pay (not necessarily money, but in an attempt to get what he wanted), or straight. Since we don't have any clear record from him of his sexual orientation, it remains one of those eternal questions that surround Hollywood legends.

It’s funny because just an hour ago I watched an interview with Skip E Lowe who knew Dean well, and said he was VERY bi and had a huge appetite for life- men, food, women, drink, smoking- anything. I always was fascinated how Dean would go to Marlon Brando’s apartment, outside, like a puppy, because he just wanted to be with him. He was a pretty fascinating person. Doesn't matter whether you were a fan of JD or not His Intense and Believable acting skills was fueled by the problems He experienced growing up. He made it work for him on the screen. Such a shame we didn't get to see more of His talent and that He found NO help for his emotional issues. As for being Gay, Hollywood did NOT start that NOR do they corner the market on that lifestyle. Go back to the Bible. It's in there right along with "Women of the Night" and Adultery. Very interesting perspective. Keep those videos coming. 👍

@@lifeisnotworthliving YOU seem to have become defensive simply because I mentioned the "BIBLE". My point IS people need to STOP blaming Hollywood or any other Entity for the way they choose to live their lives. With the exception of minors, the use of drugs , Stockholm Syndrome, etc. Hollywood influencers by themselves simply cannot hypnotize a person into doing anything against their will. Heck the "BIBLE" states that WE were created with the ability to make choices. At what point did my response say that being gay is a "SIN"??? Please point it out for me. Please look up the word "LIFE STYLE". RIDDLE me THIS: IF as YOU say the BIBLE was created to control people, then why does it appear that the people in this world are so DAMN out of control??? 🤔

@@lifeisnotworthliving Skin Color falls under the heading of Genetics NOT Human Nature. Human Nature leans more towards a persons Character and what makes them who they are. When the Inter- Direction of a person is heavily affected by any outside Stimuli and that outward Stimuli heavily influences the in-ward character of a person then outward behavior becomes affected and can and does become a Lifestyle. Therefore Orientation IS a CHOICE rather than something thrust upon an individual by Chance. Men are born Male and Women are born Female. IF Males and Females born with a particular set of Genitalia do not want to recognize that fact they are indeed making a Deliberate CHOICE, and LIFE STYLE CHANGE according to THE Perceptions they have of themselves and their feelings. IF every human being on the planet shared that same perception wouldn't WE ALL be a part of the LGBTQ Community??? Humans are individuals who make CHOICES. It's what WE do. I'm NOT shaming anyone. You mentioned his sketch of someone he was involved with and you said 'contract' in discussing his death. Nothing I mention is about his orientation. Don't care, because I understand all of it. But this is the first time I have heard anyone allude to the other forces at work. It is even worse now than back then.

Rock Hudson died from AIDS in the 80s. James Dean passed away in 1955. There’s too much of a gap in transmission to infection for this theory to be possible. One of the first possible cases of AIDS was reportedly of a young teenager in the 60s. However this is highly debated and was only discovered decades later. Because of the lack of knowledge of the disease anyone that contracted HIV 40 plus years ago would quickly progress to AIDS and die from either an opportunistic disease or cancer(sarcoma). It’s just highly unlikely she would have contracted HIV from an encounter(s) with James Dean via Rock Hudson in the 50s. She was incredibly progressive and accepting of gay men at a time it was unheard of. She lost many close friends to the HIV /AIDS crisis. Hence why she donated.
