Slight campaign 1&2 spoilers I mean within the animated TV show actually won't be that long until we see him again. Vox Machina see him twice. To my understanding, she and their half-sister are absolute darlings. The entire problem is their dad.
Vex said a crucial line at the end there, when Vax said their father was the same as he'd always been, and Vex replied that the reason she didn't want to go back and see him with Fenthris (the bow) was because SHE WAS TOO. Through the emotional tumult that she just went through in the corrupted tree, she realizes that she can't be the same Vex'ahlia the next time she sees her father.
I adore how Percy stands up for Vex. He tries to operate on their dad's level as nobility, but ultimately even that isn't enough.
The redheaded fey at the end of the episode is a spoiler, but one you’ll have to wait a while to see. So just a heads up, don’t go down that rabbit hole searching for info haha

All you really need to know for the time being is that he's an incredibly powerful and kinda sketchy archfey who was pretending to be a gross little satyr for the fun of it.
In-game, Trinket was voiced by Matt. He does a pretty good bear growl. "You got any sheep's milk?" That was a great laugh, thanks. The "big guy at the end" is a very gray area for spoilers. He'll probably show up maybe once more in this entire show (Garmelie mentioned a "next time"), after which you'll have to wait until the Mighty Nein show comes out. He's definitely a "long game" sort of deal. And of course you could hear Matt Mercer's "silky" voice there. Grog is basically the Trickfoots' foster kid. He's pretty much Pike's brother. In the game, there's only the one story going on at a time. But TV shows work well when they can flip scenes between two storylines (A and B). So splitting the group for a while lets them cover more ground and pack in more plot. As long as they don't split them up too long or too often, but I think it works well so far.
@ShadowyFox_86

Matt still does voice Trinket in the rest of the campaign thus far.
@cryofpaine

This was really clever. I love how they are staying true to the core story, but aren't afraid to make these significant changes. With a group this large, there are often a few characters who are just there in any given scene. It's common to have a character or several who don't play a meaningful role in a scene. And with how compressed the series is, splitting them up and running dual storylines that only feature the characters important to that storyline makes so much sense.
The fact that Vex and Vax have a way better relationship with their stepmom and their half-sister than they do with their actual blood father tho. Also: "Got any sheep's milk?" I'm dead 🤣
I am enjoying how each of the pairings they’ve teased have their own flavor: Vax and Keyleth are the high school kids with crushes they can’t figure out; Vex and Percy are too cool to be honest about their feelings; Pike and Scanlan is the pure soul trying to take the wild playboy. Meanwhile, Grog just wants to lift his ale

It actually had more to do with the comment Kima made about elves. The visible reaction didn't come until the insult.
@t3hsilarn
Жыл бұрын
@@ShadowyFox_86 It really wasn't, though. It was in reaction to the mention of Syngorn, because that's where there father was. But I understand that new watchers probably won't know that and will misinterpret her reaction. The twins were basically rejected by the elves for being half-elven, so they wouldn't have been that miffed by Kima's comment. (Their father was the worst of it, but it was also elven society at large.) They did mention Syngorn and their father a couple of times but it's easy to forget.
Percy and Vex has to be my favorite ship. I sorta picked up on it in season 1 with their "practicing your resting bitchface" conversation. They had this ease, banter, and respect for each other that they both didn't really have for anyone else. Also, at no point did it ever feel rushed. Since it’s out of the bag that Percy and Vex like each other now: Taliesin (Percy) said when Vex asked “Do I look like I come from nobility?” is when Percy realized he was in love with her. Laura (Vex) said Vex realized it in the Briarwood arc (“Darling, take off the mask”). But she didn’t say anything because she knew Percy had a lot of issues he needed to sort out before he could handle a relationship. Percy giving Vex a title meant the world to her. Nothing is more important to him than Whitestone, and him naming her a Baroness is him not only saying he trusts her, but that he wants her to be a part of the most important thing in his life.

Yeah they've definitely slow played their relationship much more than Vax / Keyleth, but for good reasons honestly. It was frankly similar in the campaign, Vax admitted his feelings for Keyleth when she wasn't really expecting it, and while they both had feelings for each other she wasn't ready. I'm not going to say more about that for now because I think they're letting that grow the way it needs to in the show. But if you watch season 1, there are absolutely a number of scenes between Vex and Percy where they show a lot of affection and comfortability with each other, as well as mutual support. Vex steps up to support Percy during his darkest moments often before the rest of the party. It's built much more slowly but has a more solid foundation than Vax and Keyleth, which is basically how it happened at the table.
About why Syldor had taken the twins, I think it was just pride. I have a faint memory of Vex straight up asking but I think it's from a later scene in the campaign. I looked through Kith & Kin the book and I can't find anything specific, only "I though if you were educated enough bla bla". Did get reminded speedreading through the book that they didn't run away because she broke an heirloom, Syldor broke Vex's bow to punish Vax for sneaking out at night, stealing and "humiliating" him. The bow was a gift from Vax. "The moment her fingers wrapped around the gift, she stilled. When she unwrapped the linen and the deep-brown staff peeked out, she gasped." "The hazelwood longbow was the best the bowyer had on offer. She knew it well, because she'd spent countless nights admiring and lusting over the bow..." "I saw how much you wanted this so I saved up"

This episode and the previous one was such a treat for the shippers. And that archer duel between Vex and Saundor was amazing. So was Kiki’s usage of Tree Stride and her Fire Elemental form, a moment from the campaign that was recreated beautifully. Syldor is the worst, but the REST of his family are great. They’re full-blooded elves, yet they love the half-elven twins. Also, can we agree that the sight of Keyleth wielding one of Vax’s daggers (and even twirling it like he does) is just so precious? She’s clearly studied him. 😊 (I even wrote a fic that revisits that moment.) As for Grog and the gnomes… it’s about to get heavy next episode.

@@Quotenwagnerianer I did go back and look at the campaign, they did take out alot of their father actually "claiming" to care for them ect, they are probably planning on leaving that for later. Because the blow up happened after his claim for caring for them anyways. So the, whole, thats what family is for or whatever I think covered that story beat. I did also think Percy making her a Lady translated better in the campagin too... really all they needed to do was copy Laura's reaction to Vex's face, then again she needed to be playing it off like he didn't just do it, sooooo but the pull his blood from her vein's was just as good, both performances gave me chills when she said it.
I'm really curious how they reveal who it is that Vex's heart belongs to. In the campaign that moment was abolutely hilarious. Laura improvised something and the whole table exploded. And telling you about the guy masking as Garmelie... basically impossible. Even telling whether he comes back is already a spoiler. So let's just say: There is a good reason why they included him.
Two voice actors do stand out above others in this episode. The voice of Pop-pop is none other than Mr. Henry Winkler himself. And Syldor's voice is none other than the same that voiced Joel in the video game The Last of US, Troy Baker.
PercyXVex starts here, him giving her the title is a huge thing, he not only embarrassed her father, but he elevated Vex to a higher status then her father which must be infuriating for him, and a royal stood up for her just by him being himself; i think the biggest difference in Vax and percys approach to protecting her against their father is Vax is trying to be a shield and it makes her feel weak, where percy offered her something of a pedestal to stand tall on and lord over her father all on her own :3

@@Melodymist true he doesnt but instead of standing in front of her he could stand with her, what he's doing isnt necessarily wrong, its just not what Vex wants, she wants to feel like shes got a dog in the fight not like shes being protected from harm, like is established in EP3 Vex doesnt need Vax he needs her, and so he's protective of her, understandably, but she doesnt feel like she needs a shield; plus she's searching for that acceptance she will never get so she doesnt want to yell at her father she wants him to see her for her not for the 'mistake' she is to him, honestly there is probably no way for Vax to help her in a way she would like but treating her like she needs to be rescued is the main thing that sets her off with Vax and her dads arguments :3

who he is he told you "garmelie was merely the traveler on this journey"
The guy at the end already hinted at who he is
Another excellent episode. I definitely want to see that romance grow between Vex & Percy...those drawings from the last episode may or may not have something to do with it 😅 I want to know more about that Saundor dude. He was giving off major Vecna vibes. Thanks for the reaction
Willhand is voiced by none other than Henry Winkler! CR got THE FONZ to do his voice!
Keylith gets the best music!
Grog's Uncle killing him is how Grog met Pike
The next episode it definitely my personal favorite. I can’t wait for you to react to it.
This episode of VM made both the most mad this show has ever made me and the most happy it's ever made me.
That red haired guy is someone known as The Traveler. He is more prominent in Campaign 2. Luckily for us all they are working on Campaign 2 as an animated series as well.
Omg I literally just looked it up, and I kid you not I totally guessed Henry winkler before I saw the snare xD who else has such a sweet and caring voice. Oh and I could listen to billy Boyd as garmelie annoy and troll vox machina all day
Grimmelin is a Fey known as the Traveler. He is a huge part of Campaign 2.
The big "elf" at the end is named Artagan (Are-Tag-an) but that's all you need to know for now. It'll be a while before we see him again.
That was Cheech Marron as Trinket.
The guy at the end. The clues to who he is is in what he said.
It's so funny hpw Vax and Vex's stepmother feels more like family than their actual father. That's how you know Syldor is really a piece of work.
The true form of Garmelie is a spoiler for later, even later than you probably expect, so I will warn anyone from venturing further down my comment... Without too much of a spoiler, his name is Artagan, a very powerful Archfey, who still has much story to tell (especially in campaign 2). We will probably see him again later in vox machina, probably the last season (if they stick to the og campaign). Let me just conclude by saying they sprinkled in clues about his identity while he traveled with vox machina, and I'll leave it at that
Oh who cares if you mess up, its not homework. Its entertainment. If you had fun you won. Keep up the good work. Edit: EPIC SPOILERS . . . That Guy at the end is "The Traveler" an uber Arch-Fey and the patron of Laura Baileys character in the next campaign. Look for him in the Mighty Nein animated series.

He's credited as Artagan in the credits of this episode. So you don't have to use his title of The Traveller... you can just say his name because it's already knowledge ppl who have read the credits will know.

@@AnxietyRat thanks for the heads up
Imagine if Billy Crystal was Grampa Trickfoot: "Have fun storming the castle!"
The guy posing as Garmelie... in the stream he revealed his real name to be Artagan. That's all that you would know at this point.
I love how Saundor is less of a corrupted fey of sorrow and pain and more of a bargin bin incel who can't get over rejection.

It still blows me away the talent they managed to draw to this project - besides the professional voice actors, Henry Winkler, David Tennant, Lance Reddick, Billy Boyd, Stephanie Beatriz (who has blown up since her Brooklyn Nine-Nine days), (the guy who played The Hound on GoT) … just amazing.
The guy at the end is basically one big "Jest". If you are familiar with campaign one you'll get it. Otherwise you will have to wait for the Mighty Nein animation.
The most powerful beings in the Feyrealm r called Archfey. Some can b wicked & cruel while others can b mischievous & whimsical. All shud b feared & respected.
Matt Mercer (CR DM) voiced the surprise new form of 'Garmelie'
"Who was that?" Ah ah ah! That would be telling.
Ambassador Vassar is played by Troy Baker aka Joel from The Last Of Us.
Syngorn is physically in the Fey Realm from an "emergency" feature that was part of the city's design (threshold crests). When the Conclave attacked, Syngorn fled. It's been a while (it's beeeen a whilllllllle) but I believe that's canon.

Forgot that they exposit this in the episode... :( whoops
Yes. Grog is on a journey alright. Vex and Keyleth, on the other hand, have been on a trip.
You got me with the sheep milk comment. I was listening and said, "what? Why did she say that?" Then I remembered the comment made earlier in the show -- and almost choked laughing. If I'd been drinking milk, it would have come out my nose. Great call back! Who is the mysterious Fey elf with the green eyes? He already told you. Just a Traveler.
Guessing voices is apart of the show imo, since you know they got very talented friends.. I didn't even know it was Troy Baker in this episode.. And Cheech Maron as Trinket.
Whose voice is that? That's the Fonz, baby! Heeyyy! (Gods, I'm old.) Originally, their father did amend the document... I hope there's a better payoff farther down the road. And that... is an archfey. You'll see him again.
It’s the real Syngorn. The entire city can be shifted to the Fay realm in times of danger.
