The latest on NHRA legend John Force

Спорт

NHRA legend John Force is in intensive care in a Richmond hospital after a harrowing crash at an event in Virginia this past weekend.
AFP racing reporter Rod Mullins updates us on Force's condition, which is very much touch-and-go at this early stage.
The podcast also covers the pending move of Chase Briscoe to Joe Gibbs Racing, and Christopher Bell's win in New Hampshire on a rainy NASCAR Sunday.

The doctors threating him; along with his personal physician, probably will recommend that he retire as a "drag car driver". I hope he listens to them - he is the G.O.A.T. Funny Car Driver, so has nothing to prove anymore.

I’m 70, still drag racing, but not at 300+ mph. That’s silly if you ask me, especially at 75. When we get older we are nowhere near as resilient as when we were young. Johns not stupid, just doesn’t want to let it go. Mother Nature has other plans for us all! I hope he recovers and announces his retirement. No one would blame him. He’s done it all with nothing left to prove. He is the reigning GOAT in Funny Cars. God Bless John and family! 👍😎🇺🇸❤️

I believe John has a either a very severe concussion or he has swelling of the brain. A concussion is bad, but if the brain swells that could mean brain damage. With all the crashes and head injuries he has had if he goes back to racing and does not hang up his helmet I feel he is asking for something even worst. We all love John and watching him race, but enough is enough. We have John now and I am afraid we may loose him if he does not quit now.

John Force would be considered a VIP at any hospital because of his notoriety. His notoriety alone would insure his stay in ICU. The fact that John is still in ICU doesn't mean infer anything. Blood vessels could have sheared. Such things take time to reveal themselves.

FACTS... U are ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY MOST DEFINITELY RIGHT, being in ICU doesn't necessarily mean he's on the brink of crossing over, yes it is an unfortunate fact that for some folks ICU could possibly mean it's the last room they'll be in HOWEVER that is definitely not the case for everyone! ICU means "Intensive Care Unit" it literally explains itself! John Force is in ICU because he is in need of "INTENSIVE CARE" durrr... He's basically getting special treatment, the best of the best are constantly tending to him and his needs and monitoring him and his conditions to make sure he's okay and that is all!! But unfortunately people always think negative never positive and that's sad very very sad...

Praying for him and his family as anyone in motorsports or even those not even a fan. But they all know his name, his fame and his girls. John is like NASCAR's Dale Earnhardt to Funny Cars and drag racing. I've always been a NASCAR fan and I remember losing Dale. It happened on my birthday and thing is, I wasn't a hardcore Dale fan. I hated him in the early years, but loved him in his golden years. But that is what John means, and it's time Mr Force. Time for you to pass the torch and find that new thrill from the outside.....

Based on what you are saying, and from my basic speculation, I think it is clear when he recovers from this, Force is calling it a career. Already announced 3 weeks ago he turning the keys over to Robert Height. And it seems clearer based on what you're saying he won't be driving in Ohio. And probably not in Seattle in 2 weeks. You're first person to say he was in Intensive Care. That was not disclosed yesterday or Sunday. You don't walk out of an ICU and go back to work. But perhaps it's fair to say Sunday was John's last race. Probably getting encouragement/advice from family and friends now that he should quit now. perhaps doctors are telling him your done. But that's my educated guess. He's not going to climb into a nitro Funny Car and compete again. He survived this accident. He may not survive the next one.

I think JF should retire after this accident. Previous Drag Racing champions like Don Garlits and Eddy Hill called it quits after escaping from terrifying crashes. At his age JF has nothing to prove and a new generation of drivers in his team to replace him. ALL the BEST to John Force and John Force Racing.❤

@@michaelhalsall5684 Exactly. After 16 championships, he has nothing more to prove. I think this accident was the cue to give the keys to someone else. He'd be out of his mind to jump back into another Nitro car and complete a run at 300 mph. I said something similar on another video and some dude called me a kid. I'm a big kid at 58. Been there-done that. I was a Tech-dude for another race team in 91-92 and saw close up how Force operates. Guessing the family may be telling him it's over. Time to hang it up. Cheers.

But it makes me furious that the NHRA refuses to update these tracks, widening the lanes, implementing huge soft walls, adding Aqua walls. Push the crowd back and up. That bone crushing slam into the wall was the straw that broke the camels back. Update these tracks, make them safer and faster. It’s simple, You don’t update your off the schedule.
