    Can we get a petition going to get that coach to release his catalog of tiger going back to '95, please? At least some part of it... He's sitting on a gold mine and just telling us he has it. We, the viewers, might not know what to do with the information from those videos without a trained eye to interpret and express the subtle nuances to us but I'm sure we could all appreciate the elegance of the motion.

    His best year was 2000 and it's on KZread. Why copy a Tiger swing other than his peak year in 2000. Just my opinion. Sorry for hating, I just would hate for you to waste your time Butler.

    This man in good coach for real. I went to the course today morning to quickly try the putting grip technique...insanely accurate. Its shocking how much l have really been messing up. Direction, weight control with that grip is so easy to get. Now l am going for the speed training part...and try spending two thirds of my range time on putting.

    I have been a long devotee of golf (30 yrs. ish...? and hold a single digit handicap. I have been searching for help with my putting as i 3 putt usually twice a round. This particular video is giving me some simple tools to go and re-work the grip and posture and see how it works. While i dont have a quintic, i do have a gc quad and i am going to see the difference it actually makes for a stable path. Can't wait and best of luck on your journey!

I cannot wait to try on the golf course at Forest Oaks, N.C. in 2 days. I feel confident I will finally shoot my age. Really felt the stabilityy with the setup. Thanks.

    great lesson , great content . If I may make a suggestion - (PGA life member retired) - probably taught as much as your guy here - who was fantastic BTW. Try to lose the self deprecation after every time a question is asked or a point is made. Its a distraction and total waste of time and energy it only takes away from what you and the fellow helping you are trying to do. believe me it is common -but you won't see a good player ever do it. Your just starting out so it is a great habit to build right now

    I have to push back on spending 50% of all your practice time on putting. The full swing takes way more practice to be able to hit consistent solid, straight shots. All the data shows GIR is the number one factor in improved scoring . Not to mention keeping your ball in bounds and out of hazards.

  • @jackrutherford-1
    @jackrutherford-1 Жыл бұрын

    Dude, the easiest way to improve putting is to draw the lines on the ball! What a tip! I'm still kind of slow at lining the ball up but I do it when everyone else is putting. I had 13 putts yesterday with 5 one putts! Just missed a couple long birdie putts. I find when I stand over the ball ready to putt, it looks like I'm aimed too far left. So I used to adjust my aim after getting over the ball. No more! Now I line it up from behind. Line up putter to ball and stroke it. The lines on the ball improve your putting stroke too. What a tip! I'm on a 21 hole streak with no 3 putts. Let's go!

    I watched Monday, played Forest Oaks, Greensboro Tuesday, used the starting setup, arms out parallel to ground, pull back to body and bend over. I made 6 putts from 10-12 feet that I dont think I would have without changing that setup. Arms tight to my body felt unusual, but I quit thinking about it with the results.

    Here is a tip for you all on distances in putting. 1) find a flat part of the green and ensure your putting stroke has a consistent tempo 2)Take 3 steps from the hole and it doesn’t matter if long or short step, 3 of YOUR steps, doesn’t matter how many feet 3) from 2) you will putt with a different length backswing till the ball is 18” past the hole - for example say a 6” backstroke gets you 18” past the hole 4) memorize the equation as number of step to the hole 3 + 3” or 6” backswing For a 6 step distance it would be 6+ 3” or a 9” backstroke to get 18” past the hole… Different green speeds will have a different equation Putting uphill add 2” and putting downhill just leave at number of steps or whatever that equation will be. This means you can learn the speed on the course as you play and make minor adjustments for steeper slopes and grass grain etc.

Yesterday i added 3 strokes. Par 4 285 yards drove to 4 feet missed the eagle putt. Par 3 165 even closer probably 3 feet miss the birdie putt and it goes off the slope down about 12 feet miss the par putt. Hopefully watching this can save my putter from going into the water or getting broken in half

    What a great putting video. First putting video I've ever watched. Gonna be practicing this stuff immediately. I don't agree with focusing on putting and working your way backwards to the tee because golf starts at the tee. Most strokes lost by high handicappers are off the tee. If you can't hit the ball in play off the tee because of a slice and if you can't even get green side on your approach shot, you are rarely putting for boggie anyways. If you can't even putt for boggie, it doesn't matter if you can one putt or two putt because that's for double or triple and you'll never score low making triples. Once you start putting for boggie and par, then putting practice becomes essential to make that one putt for par and two putt for boggie at the worst.

    I understand, and experience, your “from the tee” perspective but for instance my last round I had several good drives and a few good second shots that put me just off the green in two and still had bad scores. I still think the drive for show and putt for dough as a lot of Merit to it.

    @mike coughlin I look at it like this.. Almost anyone can become a proficient putter with time/practice. It's the least physically demanding aspect of golf... Only a certain amount of people have the athletic ability to hit the ball 300+ yards consistently straight and at a desired target. So.. While putting performance separates the players at the top, it's only after they've been filtered out by distance/accuracy of their woods/irons..

    Hello Derek. Thanks for your instruction. I noticed on greens that were particularly fast, the ball skids at first and does not have the friction to roll end over end, for a couple of inches. My mates agreed. What we could not agree was on sidespin. The putter can be open or closed, which makes the ball go those ways. Our question is can you put sidespin on ball when putting, different from topspin or underspin? Thank you in anticipation.

    You can definitely put sidespin on the ball with an open or closed face
