The last People who refuse to leave a Ghost Town | Abandoned Italy
Abandoned Italy (Season 3, Episode 04) Castelpoto, a ghost town exploration
This is a re-upload! Two weeks ago, we posted the original exploration episode. One building we entered in that video was still privately owned. That person made her lawyer contact us to tell us we had to take our video offline. To avoid any legal troubles, we decided to remove any footage showing the inside of that particular house.
In southern Italy, there are countless ghost towns, only populated nowadays by animals and plants. But the place we explore in this video is different: after a disastrous earthquake decades ago, residents of Castelpoto collectively decided not to abandon their homes. They did not want to relocate, but they could not live in their ravaged homes either. So instead, they decided to build a new part of town - directly adjacent to the old ruins. On a summer day, we came here to explore the old and new town, talk to locals and learn about the story of Italy's most uncommon ghost town. #urbex #abandonedplaces #bwturbex

This is a re-upload of our most recent video which was posted two weeks ago! We received overwhelming feedback from the residents of the semi-abandoned townlet we were featuring. They all loved it - except one person. One building we entered was still privately owned. That person made her lawyer contact us to tell us we had to take our video offline. To avoid any legal troubles, we decided to remove any footage showing the inside of that house and now re-uploaded that episode to our channel. However, in our opinion, it would be great if the owner cared about the ruinous building as much as she cares about the footage of this place on the internet.

I agree with you. Some people tend to be petty and waste energy on useless things instead of doing something better to improve their surroundings 🤷. I'm sorry it happened, I'll gladly watch the video again and send it to my stories🥰❤️ let's RUN THE LIKES UP!!

@@mawi1172 I used to work for TNR which was trap neuter & release when I was a vet tech years ago. It was the most heartbreaking thing I've ever done and I beat myself up for it because I wasn't mentally or emotionally strong enough to do it. Now, I still donate. Before we bought our house I did have a feral cat that I tried forever, meaning a few years to warm up to. I bought an outdoor home that was heated for her and fed her everyday. When I left, The neighbors took over. I still take food over and check on her. You are right there are a lot of feral cats I'm not sure about this many and there's definitely not dogs because it's not legal. Your dogs have to be fenced in on a leash etc. It's just a heartbreaking situation to see this many and one location that need love but you're right they are everywhere. Ugh. Breaks my heart to the core.

What a beautiful place! It's like a bunch of time capsules holding the stories of times past. It's really fun how you show the places but also explore the history and stories ❤️
I recently went through a similar ghost village in Abruzzo... made a wrong turn in the country and ended up in such disaster area, with weeds over my head, surrounded by destroyed by earthquake stone dwellings... it really broke my heart. It was so unexpected, I had no idea about the past of that region, just arrived to Italy. I felt so much sadness.
Really heartbreaking especially those stray animals 😭
The lady has her rights, her privacy should have been respected, instead of criticizing the condition of her property... she keeps it the way she likes it, her memories are in this place..

No. Just because someone owns a place doesn't mean that person lived there. The owner of the castle is a real estate speculator and a pain in the ass for this community. It was her fair right to send her laywer after us and we respected her wishes BUT letting her castle stay a ruin blocks the rebuilding process of Castelpoto. It seems like money is more important to that person than the community.
You always manage to capture the places you explore with a sense of their beauty and history, along with your creative modern eyes. You find patterns and juxtapositions that strike the viewer with a deep sense of time as layers that can be peeled back and glimpsed beneath. Your little kitty who chose to spend the night with you was lovely, and quite capable of taking care of itself it seems. Thank you for sharing this unusual town with us…and stay safe out there.🖤🇨🇦

Hello how are you doing?
This is so well done! Great work! This video was so eye opening.
This is a beautiful documentary, thank you so much.
the world is a decoration no matter how good it will definitely be abandoned, don't love the world, this world is a trick of beauty, be grateful and worship the one who created this world
I'm a moslem, everytime i wacth your owesome videos, empty house, photos memories, old stuff, people pass away, i always wondering about how we created what for, and after die where we to go? Your videos make my faith stronger, believe in what is in our holy book, life is temporary, hereafter is forever. let's continue to do good, may we realize this world is just a stopover.🥺🥺

In my faith, our Holy Book says not to store up material things here on earth but work on our spiritual health with God. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter Heaven because he can't easily give up material wealth. We were born without material things and when we go someday, those things we accumulated can't go with us when we pass away.
Thanks for taking the time to explore such places and let us experience your journey through watching it 🙂

Those cats are far too friendly to be feral /strays. They must have regular contact with humans and associate them with care and kindness otherwise they would be illusive and terrified of you.

How fascinating would be to rebuild this magical place full of history. Every wall tells a story and people that have lived there. I knew about the sale of these places for $1 euro, but it needs more than that. A village town needs everything, not just one person to rebuild. I hope one day some major decides to fix it up as it’s a Beautiful place. Do we know how many people died from the two earthquakes? Surely, afterwards they would have come back to try to get their belongings. But, maybe authorities deemed it unsafe to enter.

A singer/song writer Jim Croce was from Croce, Italy. Wrote: "Time in a Bottle" If I could save time in a bottle, the first thing that I'd like to do, would be to spend time with you, or something like that. Great song, it was from the heart about a loved one he lost.
What I'd like to know is how did the former residents of these abandoned towns support themselves in these communities before they were abandoned? Was it agriculture? Textile production? Raising animals? And what brought these industries to an end?
Well do not leave that gorgeous kitty nor all the other discarded animals there abandoned , take them to civilization Or to a shelter ! Sad! 🙏💕♥️😪😪😪🙏

I have lived in a small but important village in Portugal now for almost 9 years, not as abandoned as this but in the time i have lived here i have seen a decline of the last generations and then to see inevitable decline of their beautiful houses with no one left to live in them.... i feel we are losing our touch with normality, who the hell wants to live in a city working for 'the man' when you have heaven around you 24/7, fresh air, peace and a great community

I think it would be a feasible idea to have the inner structures of new buildings made from prefabricated steel / container structures put together onsite on decoupled stripe fundaments and made the exterior facade and interior look like a traditional house. In case of an earthquake a crane will be ordered and the modules rearranged with minor damage to the structure.
