One of the best documentaries about the afghan war. It shows the futility and powerlessness of the defensive fight against a guerrilla force which can sneak across the border. It gives a nice perspective of the conflict as seen from Afghan villagers (easy targets for,Taliban as Americans cannot defend them), the afghan captain (seems to be a smart and good leader, not a stone-head like so many I’ve seen in other documentaries), the afghan soldiers (not the smartest and most disciplined soldiers) and the America major. Basically both OP and COP are sitting ducks, easy targets and not sure that they have survived this ever ongoing war. I feel sorry for the afghan soldiers who are basically risk, being overrun every day and for,the American major who,is down to,earth, respectful, but constrained....very sobering story about the war.

Jan Van Mulders- Yours is one of the more thoughtful and pretty much 'dead-on' assessments/comments about this vid, and the war as a whole. Well done. I will try to post my thoughts as a 7 time deployed member of CJSOTF-A/CJSOTF-SE and maybe answer many of the questions and comments others have posted. Everyone has opinions, some very strong, some rightly so, some not, some made by ppl who are going off of visceral feelings, or what someone else said/told them, and not by going and looking at things for themselves. I dont mind ANYONE'S opinion or outlook, or assessment, as long as it is formed off of facts, and duly researched, and not going off of what someone told them, or what so-and-so heard through their friends brothers wife's best friends hamster.

This showed how much bonding of love and affection these soldiers had for one another. They were sick on duties, while Talibans were enjoying fighting and living again as common men. Talibans were in offensive position in these 20 years, while Afghan and NATO army was in defensive mood to prevent their casualties.

Us Americans can understand that, but you can't have a radical Islamic government either where people have to watch what they say and do, raping little boys amd beating girls is a cowards way of life, giving no education also is cowardice. If your people weren't involved amd responsible flying planes and killing our people in the towers you would have never seen us in your country. Not only that your country had plenty of chances to hand over the people responsible for 9/11 and you didn't do that so you paid the price. Elect a good government that's equal and fair and establish law amd order on the humane side of things instead of this eye for an eye bullshit

How Afghanistan/taliban could be threat to a superpower ??If they invaded just for Usama bin laden ,then who will be responsible for thousands of citizen died and disabled during this long war of history??..American should be ashamed of their act of invasion, and should parden from humanity for spreading war around the globe ,just to boost their amunition buisness.

The Afghanis were terrified of them even the pups. An air force female could walk around by herself with a 15 lb pup and no one would mess with her

just another documentary that shows what western people shoud see. What they shoud believe. If there where real democracy in afghanistan, they would have an islamic, sharia ruled goverment - by right - but thats not what "they" want.

Wow what are the odds that at one place 50% of the semi competent ana would be there. My heart breaks for the actual Afghan soldiers who are actual soldiers and once everyone left their lives were in severe danger. You know a majority of the ana stole what they could to sell and go home, and half the ones who stayed probably just became the next round of corrupt people
