I was also in Afghanistan with my girlfriend in 1972 doing the trail. From Kandahar we went down to Quetta in Parkistan. No way did we get the impression that it was idealic. There was a very restless tension in the air that something was going to happen. And of course it did.

These are hard dudes and I would be proud to be fighting along with them. My hats off to the men and women of not only our military but in every military unit fighting for their respective countries.

Had the opportunity to drink with some British Marines on Diego Garcia and stories were sharing. Was a great time with fellow warriors.

Every time I watch these documentaries I feel I become part of each and every soldier and when I hear or see a fallen one, I cry and pain shoots thru my heart as if i knew them personally. I guess that's the part of being human! To ALL that served, the ones that made it home, and the ones that died fighting, thank you from the bottom of my heart and may God have the best seats for you in Heaven!

these soldiers are so young and eventually young if not lucky. but they did an excellent job in helping those people back in their village by diffusing IED. it is truly remarkable. they deserved more than enough. just pity with those local farmers and their family where they can be in danger any second. children out of school when they deserved the right to education. salute you all guys for your bravery and determination.

It's MTP, same colours and shapes as DPU but just smaller and arranged better

I respect these men so fucking much, being on the front line it’s not for your every day soldier but Marines they’re not your every day soldier. I hope all these guys made it back home nice and safe God bless you all for doing a job nobody else wants to do 🇺🇸🤝🇬🇧👍🏼

Yes, the aftermath of the IED incident in which he was injured is actually shown in the last episode of this docuseries. Lieutenant, later Captain Simon Maxwell actually became quite well-known as a para-athlete after he had his lower leg amputated below the knee. He was a young lieutenant at the time, but always led from the front fighting alongside the soldiers he commanded, which is a testimony to his courage and a credit to himself.

Its obvious Bagram was surrounded when we withdrew. And what a shame to leave the interpreters and Commandos with billions in equipment behind like we did. It was the mirror image of our withdrawl from Vietnam in 75 with the NVA surrounding Saigon.

As a Yank, I have to ask who takes 'tea time' more seriously-the British or Afghans? It makes me wonder if the Afghans worked better with the Brits than us Americans considering the mutual love of tea.
