The Last 1967 Victoria Line Train
After 43 years in service the 1967 stock Victoria Line trains were replaced.
The 30th June 2011 was the last scheduled serviced, with two trips between Seven Sisters and Brixton. So we popped down to take a ride on the the very last '67 Victoria Line train ....

good job! the tube is a funny place where no one speaks to anyone, but when a event such as this comes up everyone seems to open up. Something I miss about living in UK. the strange, but eccentric lifestyle of living in and around London.

What an extremely well made short film, I loved it! I even found myself smiling at the three cheers and general enthusiasm shown by all concerned, I'm from the West Midlands, I've only ever been on a tube train once back in the mid eighties, loved the experience, thanks for a great film.

I remember when they were brand new, and so much better, faster smoother than the old pre war junk on every other line. The future looked bright then.

Well, at least you can still experience the 1972 stock on the Bakerloo Line, which are basically the same as the '67 stock.
I miss this old stock train as well. I was lucky to use it while on my London visit in summer 2007.

I remember when they came into service, & what a joy they were compared to the old stock.
Thank you so much for recording this event. I used to regularely ride the Victoria and the Piccadilly Lines back in 1972/73 when I lived in London. Always loved the unique (then) sound of the Victoria stock and their rapid acceleration. Sad to see these trains go.

We from Kolkata (Calcutta), India had to bid goodbye to the old 1983 stock trains from BHEL, running since the inception of Calcutta Metro, without a formal goodbye, as they were removed from service when we were in lockdown due to Covid,in 2020, without any ceremony or special run. I badly miss those trains😢.
When she mentioned Howard Collins I thought 'that is a familiar name' 😀, he has been doing great things with our trains over here in Sydney, Australia especially with F1 our old 1920's 'red rattler' train.

"67 stock for life!" Wonderful
I was once stuck in a tunnel for nearly 40 minutes on one of these when a pipe between two carriages burst and started spewing out steam, we had to wait for an engineering train to be brought up to push us into Victoria station (southbound). I certainly won't get sentimental about these old bangers!

Wouldn't be steam. Was probably a burst on the train line air pipe, also doubt it was an engineering train either, would have been whatever timetabled service was behind it.

The narrator, Victoria, is gorgeous and it is always wonderful to see videos about historic trains and the underground...Thank you.
I remember travelling on the 1967 tube stock from Kings Cross St Pancras to Tottenham Hale in 2009. The last time I travelled on the 1967 tube stock was back in April 2010. I do like old underground tube stock because it does bring me back memories back in the 90s including the C69/77 tube stock. 👍
Thanks for taking us with you on the last 67 stock.

Excellent commentary!!! Really enjoyed it!!! I remember travelling on them when they were new!!! However haven't been on the current stock!!! Thanks again!!!
My mums dad used the Victoria line on its first year 1969. He died in 1970 he loved it as it got him to Victoria to his office fast in 1970. I used them in the 1980s as a child I remember them in their old colours.

Kudos for having a nice young lady presenting this vid!
These trains were part of my childhood 😢 miss them
My very first "Tube Experience" was on this 67 Stock on the victoria line. For me this train will always be the symbol of the Tube: the design, the noise, those seats with I find very cool. Originally I was a very "parisian undergrounder" (as far as I used to live here), but I foud here something different, something more iconic. And this is the city where all started! Nice viedo overall!
wow never thought i’d get this emotional over a train
I hope they are gonna put the 67 in museum... rip 67 stock (1967 - 2011) ❤
I love turning up to interesting rail-related historic moments too. I was on the first Manchester Metrolink tram to leave both East Didsbury and Manchester Airport stops (at about 5 in the morning). It was fun!

These people are crazy!!! I love it!
Excellent reporting - and the reporter really is called Victoria! "Mind the gap" was an amusing diversion. I have to confess that my immediate assumption was the same as nope noperson's! Finally, I was amused to hear that the new trains have increased acceleration. I remember travelling on the Victoria Line when it opened and being taken aback - literally - by the impressive acceleration of the 67 stock. I guess it's all relative!
Delightful film. Thanks so much for sharing it
I like the way the honk at the end cut him off 😆 the 67 train was like Booooo to the new trains!
That drivers cab was the same one that the queen was in on opening day!

The orders for the 72 stock was needed to replace the 38 stock on the Northern Line, and was done in a hurry, so there was no time to come up with new designs, hence the trains being based on the 67 stock. I believe it's the same for the 73 stock

But being on sick leave I've binge watched so much of your content as someone who went to Uni in Kingston and lived another 5 years in London and have travelled the rail network to all sorts of places loving seeing many familiar places (either by train or tube). Loved commuting out to Malden Manor as there was always a choice of trains in case I missed the most direct train.
great video!! london...fantastic city!!
Living in Wrexham, N Wales (though very much a Londoner) I very much miss the Underground.
So glad I was a driver on this Line and the Piccadilly line 1973 stock, the 1967 stock had such character
I rode those trains to school every day from 1987 to 92
Very good. Very well presented. Really enjoyed this
Thank goodness somebody captures the last of things i would never have known if i not seen this video
I don't remember any celebration when the last 1927 stock on the Bakerloo was finally was withdrawn in about 1970. Most people were glad to see the back of them, despite being Art Deco masterpieces.
Those old trains have the best horns/whistles I have ever heard
At least the similar 1972 Stock trains are still running on the Bakerloo Line. I miss the 1967 Stock trains sometimes.
Nicely presented video - with a very nice presenter!
Reminds me a little of when I took the last ever Y36 bus from Nottingham to Beeston earlier this year. It didn't have quite the same fanfare as this though I must say!

67 stock for life! Haha XD
I came to visit London in 1993 and travelled the Victoria Line, probably on 1967 stock, and didn't know about it then, but just found about it now... See you in 120 years for the last Elizabeth Line train...
Thanks for posting, very intresting & sad to see the old style stock retire, hope a set can go to the Underground Museum at Acton. Bring back wood flooring n knob grips to hold on to. ;-)
These original trains were known as the' Turby' trains or Turbies' as they were affectionately known by their drivers and other LU staff. Because of their distinct front ends with the slanted driver cab windows. Victoria and Geoff were saddened to hear the demise of these once great iconic Tube Trains and made the painful pilgrimage to pay homage and respect to this great piece of London Underground Heritage *The 67 Stock is Dead - Long Live The 67 Stock!*

They still have 72's, which are basically the same except that they're manually controled. They even send some 67 carriages to Stonebrige Park as a spare ones for Bakerloo trains

If Giles was alive he'd love this. That's the chap who did the Daily Express cartoons involving the Guinness swigging Granny. He particularly loved drawing the old London trams, and had a good eye to technical detail, unnecessary for the point of the cartoon, but somehow it made itself a subplot, incidental but inveigling itself into the scene as backup. He also had somewhat curmudgeonly opinions about public transport in general. This would be too good an opportunity for him to miss.

This appeared in my recommendeds on Wednesday the 30th June 2021, so although it says "posted 9 years ago" I'm pretty sure today was the tenth anniversary of the day and the recording! When I was last commuting on the tube, there weren't any new trains, it was wall to wall 1967 stock.
