I love this format. You are so real about your mental health. That's very brave and refreshing to those of us that struggle from time to time. Your sharing can be of great strength to people that are in a difficult space. Be kind to yourself. Your knitting is gorgeous and your kiddos are adorable. Merry Christmas! 🎄

Thought I would add to your Vlogmas list…Cherry Heart podcast from a few years ago. These have quiet music, clips from home and not very long. Also glad to hear you frogged the Steven West MKAL. I am in the same boat, once I saw the finished object, I knew I would never wearing nor gift it. It is good to make the decision and move on. So as far as your patterns decision, just consider this time not so much as stopping your forward progress, but doing a reassessment, set goals for the next few months and plans for ‘23. Perhaps 3 pattern releases is a goal, to give you time to make your notes, have them tested and then released. Take a breath and enjoy your holiday decorating.

Laura, thanks for being so down to earth and honest in your videos! I really enjoy that your podcasts are like chatting with a friend I genuinely feel for you with your anxiety and I know you will get through this rough patch.. always remember that there are better days ahead ♥ After seeing you be so open about your experiences, I just wanted to mention I feel really grateful that you do share these more vulnerable parts of your life with us. As someone who also struggles with anxiety, it makes me feel a lot better to know that I'm not alone with how I feel. Your video came at a much needed time for me today, I just found out that I have tennis elbow in both my arms and may need to take a small break from knitting, so your video helped put me in the mood to slow down a bit and it helped to pass some time without my needles in my hands. About you:- love the idea for the test knit for the eclair it should be so much easier for you. In regards to everything else, make sure you have enough spoons for your life stuff. I think it’s interesting that you mention the “traditional test knit” in having 20+ testers across the size range in one big group chat because this style of test knitting has only come up very recently. I only point this out because this is a new way that people started conducting the test process that worked for them, but it may not work for you!! I really love test knitting because I find myself more engaged with the pattern and process (and finishing a project in a timely manner), but I’m also neurodivergent and struggle with social paralysis in the group chats for the tests. I couldn’t imagine the anxiety and weight of managing a 30+ tester group in the currently popular, kinda parasocial test knit structure. I love your podcasts and your openness to share your life and journey - I mostly lurk but it’s been really nice for me to see your relationship with yourself and your children and family grow as an adult woman with autism, especially in the knitting space. So idk I’m very interested to see what style of test knitting works for you because I think you just speaking about it could do a lot to make the designing/testing ecosystem more accessible for a neurodiverse knitting community. Just my 4 cents, but as a Claire I’m SO excited for the Eclair sweater and look forward to your work that has yet to come. 😊

I just stumbled across your podcast and loved it for your honesty and authenticity - just a slice out of a knitting mommas life, with her arms pulled in all the directions but who so obviously loves her family ❤Sweet little Penny singing and clanging in the background made my heart swell! The “traditional” knitting podcasting format is unnecessary and trite imo so you be you! No need for self-imposed pattern goals. Gifts to the knitting world are great, but raising sweet, loving children is the most important and invaluable gift you can offer the world, especially now. Xoxo

I've been testknit a few times because I know how important is the testknit for a designer, for the pattern and so. However, I always have a strange feeling when I see tesknits where your ig handle is important (you need to have lots of followers) or raverly or other things. I can understand that as a designer you need to protect your work, you need to make sure (as possible) that your pattern is not beeing used other way than a testknit, I do. Still, sometimes I feel excluded and that's why I don't testknit anymore. A testknit means a lot of work, sometimes a draft can have so many errors, sometimes you frogg a lot of work because of those mistakes. It is expensive because you need to buy yarn for that project in case you cannot use what you have in your stash. And sometimes you end up with a garment that don't fit as you expected to fit. The few testknits I've been participating where those where the designer was interested more about my abillity and not on how popular my social media is.

This would be cute for your Christmas tree, and they are quick and easy requires little yarn: Garter Stitch Bear by Janice Helge and is a free pattern on Ravelry. I like to make with leftovers of yarn from making a baby gift, then there is a little matching bear. Looking forward to seeing the 🌲

You can get polystyrene stars from the craft shop ( spotlight) in New Zealand I thought it might not weigh as much.

If you have any blue and yellow scraps you could do one Hanukkah themed star 😉

Glad you made a good choice for yourself! When you do Vlogmas, can you show your back garden? I am in America and have a fascination with English garden areas. Thanks!

Omg it’s an absolute wreck at the moment, but hopefully we will get round to sorting it out in which case I will do my best to show it, though it’s currently nothing special! My mums garden is stunning (I show a bit of it in my latest weekend vlog) but when I visit during vlogmas I’ll try to remember to show that too, she’s very proud of it so she won’t mind I’m sure! X
