I use my cheese knife with the rubber handle, it's a great grip for frozen chicken (especially if your hands have arthritic tendencies). I love them all. There's a knife for every job. 🔪👍🙂

Would you use the vegetable knife or the butcher knife for hard vegetables like butternut and spaghetti squash? Im having a hard time deciding between the two. Im only going to get one, so which one is best for that purpose? Thanks!

Hey Aviva, great to hear from you. The butcher knife and the vegetable knife are both interchangeable on heavy duty vegetables such as sweet potatoes and squash. That means that it really comes down to the other uses that would determine which knife is better. - The butcher knife is also very helpful for large meat preparation. Breaking down a prime rib, removing the fat cap from a brisket, prepping a pork butt or pork shoulder, ribs, and so on. - the veggie knife is fantastic for everyday vegetables such as celery, carrots, onions, garlic, cucumbers, and so on -> which one are you leaning towards?

NEVER hammer down on garlic with a Nakisi knife. Destruction of knife may easily result. The blade is extremely thin and designed only for slicing and dicing.

Hey John, thanks for commenting my man! Yes, safety is priority #1. I can say that after 15 years I've never seen our Vegetable Knife blade break. Luckily Cutco is USA made with USA steel 💪. Have you experienced breaking knives on garlic before?

John you are 100% correct, but the knife he is using is not a Nakiri. Instead, it is a cheaply made, high priced piece of stamped stainless steel. It only looks Nakiri.

I’ve never owned a Cutco knife before, but I’m scared to spend so much. I’ve never spent that much in a knife before. Are they worth it?

Hey Gina, spending upwards toward $100 - $200 per knife can be a big leap depending on what you are used to. In my experience, it comes down to use. Since we eat everyday, doesn't it make sense to invest in something good once? I use this same logic when I invest in a mattress and other everyday items that come with a wide variety of quality and prices. The cool thing about Cutco though is that it is a buy once, cry once product. Backed by the Forever Guarantee covers your sharpening and broken items for free forever. There are lots of good knife brands out there. Cutco just happens to be the best value when it comes to people who are not cheap and also not chefs. Package discounts tend to be the smartest way to invest in Cutco and no-interest investment options available as well. Out of curiosity, what kind of knives do you use now?

My parents have owned Cutco for over 20 years and have never had to replace or sharpen any of their knives, and they're avid cooks who cook at home 4-5 days a week. It is an investment for sure, but you only buy it once as opposed to the more expensive route of replacing cheaper knives every 2-3 years in the long run.
