So the new trailer to the Lion King Prequel Mufasa just dropped. Will this be the return of the king? Or something they should have left in the outlands?

Regarding Timon and Pumbaa's brief scene in the trailer, I'm guessing it's the duo telling Kiara how they helped in taking down Scar, but adding their own comedic twist by having them actually fight Scar, before being corrected by Simba, Nala or Rafiki. I think that would make for a pretty funny scene.

@@headphone_cat_official I mean, they’re telling Mufasa’s origin story to cute little Kiara
I can see a resemblance of The Lion King 1 1/2 where Timon and Pumbaa are telling the story happening in this movie of The Legend of Mufasa! This is a very cool Mufasa Trailer Discussion video by the way Brian! 🤗
Maybe it’s going to be like a lionking 1 1/2 where Timon and Pumba are telling the story
I wish the prequel was a animated movie or TV series. Because I love animation. I hope the graphics are just as good as what disney did with the chronicles of Narnia movies. Because the creatures and Aslan in those movies were amazing
This... actually impressed me. ... WAY more than it had any right to have done so. Mainly cause of three very important things: 1) the animal characters actually have very expressive faces, ESPECIALLY compared to the 2019 film 2) it looks to go out of its way to be a lot more whimsical and fantastical than the 2019 film and 3) it is NOT trying to be a copy of the original movie at all unlike the 2019 film. Prequel to the 2019 film my butt, this might as well be a whole new original adaptation of the franchise, especially considering how all those books where Scar got his scar from a buffalo attack arent canon so it gave them even more freedom to do whatever they want with this. And you know what? I actually welcome that. Considering how i had little to no expectations about this, this genuinely pleasantly surprised me and i dare even say am genuinely hyped for this. Heck as a long time Lion King fan i actually welcome this a lot more than The Lion Guard, mainly because this movie is not gonna harm the canon of the animated films unlike TLG which i genuinely cannot wrap my head around certain aspects of it and how it actively tries to claim said aspects as part of the established lore which... just makes it all the more baffling. So yeah, i dont care what anyone says. I look forward to this.

People kept requesting to stop doing remake which they now did, and now they’re still complaining
I am but a simple man. I see Brian Hull discuss something I have thoughts about and I cannot help but like his video and watch it twice.
Hot take: I don’t consider any of Disney’s spinoffs or straight-to-dvd “sequels” to be canon, because they’re not made by the same studio as the original classics, and they seem to only exist to capitalize on the success of said classics, much like the whole live action trend. With that in mind, it kinda irks me that this movie is taking inspiration from those. Also, why are they doing the whole “Taka” thing when that was just a fanfic to begin with? And yeah, I’m not a fan of the live action trend as it is, and this gives me the same feeling as the rest of them (except The Jungle Book; I like that one).
What if Mufasa was an Outlander originally and he was the price paid for trespassing. Instead of unliving him, the Pride landers took him in.
A prequel done like this is what Disney should have done instead of doing the retelling of the Lion King.

Plus the Animals have emotions now I never liked the fact that John Favrol wanted the animals to be emotionless
I like the fact that in the Mufasa prequel, they are making an effort to make the animals more expressive I will want more live action remake if they are done right...if not then I couldn't care less
Excited for it hopefully they can bring back that Disney magic with it!
There were barbary lions that lived in the snowy mountains
looks good more lion king
I will admit. This looks like a huge improvement over the 2019 movie. I like the icy scenes and atmosphere to it all.
Since the animals look a little more emotional in this version, I'm curious to see a Barry Jenkins cut of the 2019 remake. Also Lin Manuel Miranda writing the songs? Oooooh. On one hand, he gave us the WORST Disney song ever! But on the other hand, he also gave us the songs for Moana and Encanto. Shame Elton John's not back though, but hey, he didn't work on Simba's Pride or the Lion Guard either. Even though this would be so much better as an animated movie(obviously), I'm still very excited for this. Hopefully, this will be a worthy present for 30 years of the Lion King
I'm looking forward to this movie. Majorly disappointed that it's live action and not animated though!
❤I Loves First Trailer Mufasa Look Cute & More Colorful But I See More Trailers
It is a flash back of Timon and pumbaa they weren’t around when mufasa was a cub. Otherwise Brian you’re a man after my own heart. Been a die hard Lion king fan since opening day 1994. And I’m just excited to see the story continue. :-) so I geeked out when I saw it :-)
I remember watching The Lion King on TV! Mufasa was talking to Simba and he said that he deliberately disobeyed him and he put Nala in danger. Simba was trying to be brave like Mufasa, but he’s too scared to go there. I remember seeing Timon and Zazu and Scar.
The description of the trailer states the whole thing is a story being told by Rafiki to Timon, Pumba, and Simba's daughter.
As a huge Lion King fan who has been waiting for a prequel for 30 years the fact that this is not done in the beautiful hand-drawn animated style of the original is beyond disappointing. To the point where the kid in me is screaming "WHY?! How dare they!!" A big part of what makes TLK so special is the art style and the unique character designs full of expression and emotion. I am curious about the new story but it's a real shame they won't bring back traditional animation. It's true magic and nothing compares to it. Also unsure what to think about some pretty MAJOR story changes. Scar and Mufasa have always been brothers and that will always be canon to me. Honestly, I have seen some absolutely amazing LK prequel fan fictions & comics that stay true to the source so it's gonna be hard for this movie to impress me. We'll see!
It actually looks good. I too liked the first movie. I'm going in blind with it, see how it plays out.
Yeah, a prequel to the 2019 live-action remake of The Lion King (as it came out 5 years ago), and not a remake of the direct-to-video animated film sequel, The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride. Yes, we’ll see Kiara in photorealistic CGI form for the upcoming film.
I’m definitely going to watch just because Mufasa is my favorite character in the franchise. I’ll watch just about anything as long as there’s a character in it that I already love.
I am so excited that the Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen has a part in the movie, I can’t wait to see it! 🤩
It's like watching Lion King 1 1/2 but with real animals (hence Timon and Pumbaa's cameo) Happy monday morning, Brian. Take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well.
I was not going to watch this...but then they reveal who's writing the songs. To which I say...$%&@!!!
Yeeeeeeaaaaah anyone else wanna watch Sonic Movie 3 instead? 🎵Keanu Reeves is Shadow the Hedgehog!🎵
Part of me is nervous, but also excited because of my love for Lion King as well. So I’m with you on that, Brian!
Hey @BrianHullPlus, Sorry, Mt. Kilimanjaro is not in Western Africa, It’s in Eastern side, Tanzania
I am kinda of excited but I did enjoy the original version of the Lion King more then the remake
The reason I actually am excited about this film from the jump is because of the director, Barry Jenkins. He is an excellent filmmaker and storyteller who has shared deep and rich stories of people in lowly places who rise to greatness. He also has a unique style to his camera work (which you can see even in this trailer). Obviously, much of this comes from corporate decisions to continue the franchise, but Barry Jenkins gives me a lot of hope, and he has expressed how important telling this particular story is, beyond it just being Lion King. I’m optimistic. And if you haven’t, you should check out Jenkins work…might make you more excited!
I grew up watching the 1994 version of Lion King. I can quote the entire movie if you ask me. I'm looking forward to seeing this prequel. It might have a lot of surprises.
I believe Lin Manuel Miranda had scheduling conflicts between Moana 2 and Mufasa: The Lion King in making his songs.
I'm banging my head against the wall because of the part where they say "a Lion without a drop of nobility in his blood". That would mean they have made Mufasa a king who took the throne ILLEGITIMATELY. You know, the thing Scar did that made him THE BAD GUY?! 🤦♀️ Disney, just give up. You can't even do original stories without screwing up the characters anymore. Just give up already
@cjgamer6356

No they shouldn't give up they should keep trying until they get it right
A part of me is excited because it's from Barry Jenkins, who directed Moonlight, one of the best films of the 21st century. But his vision will probably be severely compromised.
I'm sure past-Scar will be shown in the full trailers, but if he IS, I'm not gonna watch those, because I don't want spoilers for what's gonna happen. If you ask me, the teaser trailer tells enough without revealing everything. I'm just gonna wait until the film comes out.

I love this franchise My top 3 movie series’s are Paddington, Pirates of the Caribbean, and the lion king😅 I just hope they don’t push any message in this movie
By default it already looks better than 2019. It’s much more vibrant, colorful, and excitingly shot than 2019 where Favreau was so static in his misguided attempt to achieve realism like a natural documentary. The animals absolutely have facial expressions compared to 2019. To say you have any positive thoughts towards 2019 is like saying you like killing puppies. It’s really bad but man I can’t say anything nice about the stuff I did like without people ripping into me that I hate 2D animation and am a Disney shill.

Yeah I hated that animals showed one default emotion through the 2019 which was this emotion 😐 I hated that decision John Favreau made glad his doesn't have a say in this new movie
I'm definitely not excited but it's Lion King, I have to watch it! I hope it's better than the last one, for all our sakes!
Maybe the lion king movies are like spiderverse of Spider-Man but with lion king different versions of Spider-Man different versions of lion king 🤷🏼♀️
I don't like that he wasn't born royal because it messes up his speech from the original film!
I have the same mindset as you when it comes to the prequel. I am intrigued by this and I love how Rafiki, Simba, and Nala are telling the story of Mufasa to Kiara and to answer your question about Mufasa not being royal blood I saw on Threads that one of the new characters in the movie is a highly regarded king in the movie so maybe Mufasa is Scar’s step brother and instead of acknowledging Mufasa as his stepbrother Scar calls Mufasa his brother because they probably developed a close bond when they were cubs….that’s just my theory on what happened
I tried to watch the 2019 movie in the theaters but my messed up eyes couldn't handle it. I get optic migranes once in a while with certain colors or recording styles on the screen. Like white lights and energy efficient light can cause it also. I can't even do 3D movies, i get sick. I was not well when i left the movie, i stuck it out for the whole movie, but i should have left. I dont know what they did when filming, even trying to watch on Disney+ was bad.

I feel like that in the live action movies, Scar got his scar from the villain. And that villain is from anorher lion land with a pride, who’s against the Pride Land. And Taka//Scar and Mufasa will have to go on a journey to defeat this pride.
I’m not just saying this because Brian says this but I actually love this trailer
I hope you enjoy it biran whole i enjoy sonic movie 3
Would an orphan lion even have survived?
I'm not really sure what this movie is I really didn't think we needed a prequel to The Lion King the visuals are good, but I really don't get why their making this movie to me it's pointless the sad part is that James Earl Jones isn't part of this he retried his voice and I feel like you can't do a Mufasa movie without the guy who played him in the original animated movie I really think that this movie isn't going to do well it's going to confuse a lot of people I'm confused myself by this move that Disney is doing we don't need a Lion King prequel it just makes no sense at all.
I'm excited to see this but cautiously as well. I'm not a fan of the live-action remakes but most are good.

Great Review Brian and I’m with you I’m cautiously optimistic too especially with it being that he won’t hear James Earl Jones voicing adult Mufasa cause he wasn’t in the cast list so that’s got me concerned but other than that it looks great and I’m just glad they didn’t do a live action remake of Simba’s Pride because that should Never Be Touched IMHO It’s Fine Just As It Is So Please Disney Leave It Alone ✨🏰✨🙏🏻🙏🏻 Have a Great Day Brian God Bless

That's weird, 'cause James Earl Jones only retired from voicing Darth Vader. There's no way it meant he was fully retiring from acting! Unless it's a young adult Mufasa later in the film (like in his 20s or something)? Well, I know I'll find out in December, not in the full trailer.

Can you do the reaction to this trailer
Unfortunately, Disney has had a problem for a long time. They come up with a new idea, it goes down well, and they keep going until the audience gets fed up with it. That was the case with the classic fairy tales, that was the case with the sequels, and it is the case now with the live action films. But Disney seems to have long since passed the point that the audience could tolerate. We want new stories! We want 2D animation again!!! But Disney doesn't care at all. I'm afraid they're driving the company into the ground. Disney would turn in its grave...
I’m 50/50
I wish this was animated. I'm kinda disliking these live action movies. I want animation, especially from Disney. I'd love a prequel to Lion King, but why can't it be animated? But then again, would the animation be good? I don't know, Disney is kinda making me feel a bit disappointed, and that makes me extremely sad😭
I am soooooo excited for this movie!!! I really loved the 2019 lion king remake and I know it's nothing like the 1993 version but I did enjoy it and the CGI in this one actually looks good too I think
Star Wars isn't working out so well, so they chose the Lion King to milk for a few more years.
The Lion King mufasa Movie is up against sonic. The hedgehog 3 movie on December 20th 2024, the same day as this movie. My opinion is sonic will do better than this Movie.
Pass I'm am going to see sonic movie 3 which is coming on the same day and plus I'm not a big fan of Disney's live action and plus I hate the 2019 man they ruined my favorite animated film and became this annoying stupid boring and no where excited the only good thing about the film is great voice acting and still masterpiece live action animation with talking real life animals other than that I won't watch it and prefer watching sonic movie 3 with Keanu Reeves of my boy shadow the hedgehog
