In an alternate timeline, this band single-handedly brought peace to the middle east, Bill & Ted-style.

Thank you for this. I’m Jewish and have been gifted an extensive collection of World Music over the decades ... I want to see if I can stumble on this wax or album, even if it’s a cassette. Music can really be a healing force, and this band seems to have made a lasting impression. Have a great day!

For anyone curious, this album is on streaming. My first impression on it is that the hooks are definitely there. I think it would have made a reasonable splash with the right push, since they were on a major label. It is a genuinely pop/ hard rock record alongside its ethnic influences, and there was growing interest in international sounds around this time after all. Considering it came out at such a contentious time, though, and considering America's influence on the world, there's always difficulty in gauging whether a piece of music like this would make a unifying impact on historically opposed countries, or simply fall flat. Ideally, it would have been great for it to have eased the tension a little bit given the genuine friendship and chemistry between the members, but at the end of the day, the potential to lose money was at the forefront of Capitol's mind. Regardless of that, 'm glad that the album is not only available to hear and is gaining an audience, but that you decided to cover it. More people need to know about this and hear it 🤘

It sounds like a cool NWOBHM or black thrash band, like Witchnight, or Hellwitch, or Nocturnal Witch, or Witchhammer, or Witchfinder General, or Witchmaster, or Master's Hammer, or Devil Master, or Mortuary Drape, or Lucifer's Hammer, or some such

Similarly, you hear a synthesis of East and West in songs like Led Zeppelin's "Battle of Evermore", especially in the live version with an Indian singer doing Sandy Denny's part. Medieval and ethnic European music has some similarities to music further East. Perhaps this leads us all the way back to something shared in "Indo European" culture.

Oddly enough, I won my vinyl copy of this lp on ebay right around 9- 11, 2001. When it showed up, I felt weird playing it. But i instantly loved it and I play it regularly to this day.

After doing some reasearch on these guy's and listenting to the album one interesting thing I found was Kareem was a Melkite Christian(Greek-Catholic). Probably why the album has a bunch of traditional Greek songs on it including Misiriou which could be a video in of itself.

This might inspire ai works , we udio guys realize udio is a podium for rhetoric, lyricists . Cause the music is brainless to produce. I was told their ai model is bAsed on the same code as music gen, meaning it’s unstoppable, like any ai it’s just a fact, learn it, love it. And don’t bother making policy, the ai if it becomes self aware will just resent it like a child to a clueless parent setting down laws
