I think Hyundai is doing the right thing and releasing a sedan and not just SUV car. Sedans have better energy efficiency, which I appreciate. It seems to be nice to drive. What I don't understand is why you always (!) have to choose rainy days when trying out Hyundai's new cars?

Amazing, good results indeed. Shitty weather + soaking wet roads + winter tyres with considerable more rolling resistance + blasting on the Autobahn and still below 20 kWh/100 km is very good indeed! The aero of this Ioniq 6 really comes into its own. Looking forward to tests in somewhat better weather when at all possible ;)

I like the exterior design, but I wish it didn't have the large central console "buttress" - and I wish it had a hatch / liftback! Low Cd is wonderful, but it needs to be as practical as possible. And I like video side mirrors! They lower both the Cd and the frontal area, and they work better in the rain, and don't need adjustment for different drivers - and you should have much smaller (no?) blind spots.

Great test! This is exactly the car I am interested in and exactly the kind of weather I drive in too much of the time. Too bad you couldn't do a steady 130 km/h. In "trying" to average out you will actually consume significantly more energy because pushing 140+ is going to use more energy than you will "save" going slower than 130. So "probably" you would average closer to the lower 19 kW/100km range if you could have done a steady 130 km/h. Best range test I have seen yet for the Ioniq 6. This is definitely real world.

Rain increases consumption a lot. That's an amazing range in those conditions. The fact that the raindrops are not cleared off the back of the ioniq 5 shows that there's flow separation going on, which causes turbulence behind the vehicle and drag. If they can sculpt the ioniq 5 a bit more they could increase the efficiency a lot

You know that you can know the elevation on the screen... Just put the compass instead on the percentage (which is on your instrument cluster anyway) on the right side and there is an option to see elevation. I mostly drive on this as I find this quite interesting to see how high certain places are.

Hyundai nailed it! What you need is sedan body with extreme low drag coef, good powetrain and you have a BEV winner, not like many makers out out too many bulby huge BEVs! Hyundai are smart and I like smart stuff like the ioniq6, so much that I will choose it over the new Prius plug in (I drive the current one), which is big shout as Prius is legend of a tech comfort and best eur per 100km car including BEVs, of course ioniq6 will be closer to prius's eur/100km and it's one of the reasons I will get the ioniq6, the other is it's better interior, it's spacious where new Prius is not big enough anymore, also poor dashboard design of the new Prius , just things sum up for my final choise ... Future is bright Toyota will get back stronger in BEVs in few years so going Hyundai now doesn't mean I will not return to Toyota after 2 or more years

Having had an Ioniq 5 off the road for over 2 months due to an ICCU failure (which seems to be very common, affecting Hyundai, Kia and Genesis), I don't think I'd run back for another of their cars (I sold mine back to the dealer) -- granted the Ioniq 6 does seem to be a lot more efficient than the 5, but if Hyundai and their dealers' customer service is aweful it doesn't matter how good the car could be.

Very nice presentation, really love the wrap up spreadsheet. Too bad you couldn't maintain the 80MPH speed as that's the average driving highway speed here in US. Have to see the charging curve to determine the average stopping distance when on a road trip. Finally the temperature was a little chilly so warm weather range would be 10 or 15% better.
