I took one 500 mg for the first time this week. I was stuck in a negative rumination after hearing a comment at a BQ and was having trouble shaking it off. Within 15 minutes of taking it, that recycled negative thought went away. Very impressed.

  • @whyfor

I'm glad to hear you were able to 'shake it', but it wasn't the Ashwaganda that did it. It was a placebo effect and it did you well. After 15 minutes, the compound would have just started to be digested and and absorbed by the intestinal tract, it then has to pass through the liver where it undergoes further breakdown and seperation of the various nutrients before being released into the blood system. A single 500mg pill, simply cannot and does not yield the results you speak of.

Just a fantastic remedy! Take it every day for over a year now. Some days 1-2 grams other days 500 mg, it all depends on how I feel. The weird thing about ash is you can take it at night and it helps you sleep, and if you take it early on the day, it improves your energy, weird ye?

I agree with you, after a cancer scare I decided to life life as though I had cancer so I gave up Sugar, dairy, ALL grains, ALL seed oils and lost 82 lbs. I suffered from hypertension for over 15 years taking Lisinopril and Bystolic for years. When I went from 230 lbs to 147 lbs, my blood pressure problem went away. Now my resting blood pressure is 115/68 and after jogging a 1/4 mile my BP is 137/76. It's changed my life and I'm 71 years old. I love Dr. Gundry's podcasts and have almost watched them all. It may be described as an aphrodisiac but like most things of this nature, you do have to think about sex or foreplay for it to actually work. I'm taking 3000 mgs daily and as long as I don't think about sex, there are no problems at all. I think kind of like one of my childhood buddies, he said it's just way too much work for 5 to 10 seconds of ecstasy. I take it for better sleep and it helps me relax more than ever, kind of like the character David Carradine played in Kung Fu.

However, and that's a big one: It caused inflammation of the liver, AST got as high as 40. When I took it off, all other things roughly the same, AST returned to 28 after 8 months. So, if you start taking it, observe your liver enzymes.

The sacred ayurvedic texts: the Charaka and the Sushruta Sambita document the use of “Ashwagandha” as one of the most potent adaptogen and anti-stress herb. The Sanskrit name “Ashwagandha” translates to mean “the smell of a horse” and is recognized as one of the most powerful herbs for its restorative benefits and for providing “the virility and strength of a stallion.” The use of Ashwagandha as medicine to revitalize the body dates back to the teachings of the highly revered sage, Atreya Punarvasu, a royal physician. This strength builder herb has the lion’s share in the many ayurvedic formulation, including Ashwagandha Di Ich yam , and is also referred to as a “royal herb” widely prescribed for its potent stress-relieving aphrodisiac, and immuno-modulatory activities’

stop poisoning yourself with high level of sugar and caffeine. Go to the doctors, talk with a doctor, and explain your symptoms. and FIND the root cause of your low energy. for being 60 years old, you are not supposed to be that tired and drained. you gave a health issue that needs attention.

Ashwaganda lowers your stress. Thats what it mainly does and with the lowering of stress it helps improve your sleep, testosterone and performance because stress is a performance killer. If the stress is taken care of everything else follows right behind it.

This is an example of what makes the internet a crappy place to get answers. You have a doctor that know own has ever heard of, generally speaking, giving his advice, thoughts and recommendations. Then you have over 100 comments from people that none of us know with no given expertise or qualifications in the matter that would permit them to even think for a second, they should be allowed to talk, giving their thoughts and testimonials. Some of these testimonials are good and others are not so good. After, watching the video and reading the comments you are left with the same confusion that you started with and brought you here in the first place.

I need to tell people about my experience with ashwagandha. It's not a miracle herb for everyone. In fact, it can be the opposite. As soon as I began taking ashwagandha (at half the recommended dose), I developed severe insomnia, sleeping between zero and three hours a night for two weeks. Before that, my sleep was fine. I also felt depressed, manic and thought I was going crazy. My anxiety went through the roof. Within one day of stopping the ashwagandha, I started to feel normal again and my sleep improved. Several months later, I tried the ashwagandha again, and the exact same thing happened. This herb is clearly toxic for me and has the exact opposite of the desired effect. Please be aware.
