The scene where Helen was telling her children that those soldiers wouldn't hesitate to kill them hits really hard for me. Most parents try to hide those facts from their children. Helen was brutally honest with her children because she knew that they needed to understand the gravity of the situation and survive.

This movie really is shockingly adult: 1) Suicide 2) Insurance fuckery 3) Working a soul crushing job 4) Marriage strife 5) Attempted police homicide 6) Spouse cheating 7) Murder 8) Discussion of child murder 9) Doesn't the mom think her kids might have died at one point? 10) All the cape accidents That's the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Apparently animating capes with 2004 computer technology was REALLY fucking hard and that led to the NO CAPES thing with Edna. Animating Violet's hair in general was tough as well

That’s so obvious now that I think about it. They could’ve ignored it; instead they used Edna’s knowledge of heroes and fashion as clever workaround for the Incredibles and Frozone’s hero costumes.

@@ElijahROSS-zv9ri Yes, but it's easier to animate capes for a few minutes throughout the movie instead of having capes for the whole Parr family who are on screen for most of the movie. It makes sense story wise too because Syndrome designed his own costume; you can see his cape at the beginning when he's a child.

Syndrome is such a great villain by what the movie shows and doesn't tell. When Mr. Incredible is looking at all the prototypes that killed Superheroes, Syndrome has been doing it for YEARS, he had it methodically planned out, and he hunted Mr.Incredibles friends down one by one to try out his inventions.

He actually *does tell* in person to Mr Incredible (and thus the audience) that his robot had to go through various other supers to "get it worthy" of fighting him. And then later it shows the previous supers the droid killed while getting upgraded every time it was beaten. It's not "show don't tell", but rather showing without going in the details or exposition

The reveal of Syndrome's sistematic *genocide* on the Supers is still one of the best moments in any animated movie I've seen. The way the music swells and the list just goes *faster and faster* , Bob realising that his colleagues, his friends were all killed by a villain he helped create. And the worst part is that if Bob/Mr.Incredible hadn't been there with Frozone that night, his best friend would have been on that list too.

This movie is the perfect superhero movie, I dare say. The tone, the realistic and resourceful use of superpowers, the dialogue, everything coming back around, the relatability we don’t usually see in many modern movies when it comes to families, it's just incredible "But wait, Into the Spider-Verse exists". Into the Spider-Verse had a serious crutch that Incredible did not. All of the characters were already established, and the concept of Spider-Man itself was already well-known by most people. The funny part is that they completely forgot the end of the first movie. Disney just needed a side plot for the second movie.

The Incredibles was my favourite movie ever since I was a child. It came out in December of 2004 in Germany and I watched it in the cinema. My parents gifted me a cassette tape with the narrated version and I annoyed them with it by listening it over and OVER. It's one of the best animated (kid) movie with the depth of themes that mainly adults understand & the great visuals for the time for the kids. I only realized certain stuff when I was older (the man jumping from the building, all the accidents caused by Heroes, the implied cheating topic with Helen & Bob throughout, social struggles, marriage issues & reconciling, realistic fear of losing a loved one, the cop actually shooting at Frozone, deaths ON SCREEN (even without blood its gruesome)).

Incredibles might not be my favourite Pixar film; but I do think it’s their strongest criticality. (Ratatouille probably would’ve topped it, if it wasn’t for some contrived scenes and plot holes). In fact, I’d argue that Incredibles is on top of Sony’s Spiderverse movies and on par with Ghibli’s Spirited Away and Dreamwork’s Prince Of Egypt.
