When I first watched this movie and saw the credits, my jaw was on the floor. I honestly had no clue that this film (and it's sequels), was directed by Genndy Tartakovsky. I grew up watching his shows as a kid, from Dexter's Lab, to Samurai Jack, to Clone Wars 2003, and Sym-Bionic Titan. Samurai Jack in particular was my favorite cartoon growing up as a kid. So, when I saw who directed this movie I was shocked to see Genndy's name, since he's not particularly known for doing 3D animation. Speaking of, I'm still pissed that his Popeye movie never got off the ground.

Lets's be honest, all of us were down bad for Mavis at some point. Too bad she's taken. Anyway, I like how this movie is able to shift from hilarious to heartfelt and back again and still have it all feel natural. (Or as natural as Adam Sandler can be.) Sad how the sequels decided to take a more comedic approach (which weren't even funny) while the first movie had genuine emotion.
