The Impact of Presence In Relationships

Relationships are more than the need, the physical, you must be truly aware and at-one with another's state of presence. You can only truly enjoy yourself if you know yourself as consciousness, the aware... still.. vibrantly alive presence. Eckhart Tolle discusses the impact presence can have in your relationships. Eckhart, your teaching is the single most important thing I’ve ever come across in my life. I’m 35 and you have freed me from the prison of self-inflicted suffering that I’ve been habitually inflicting on myself (as well as others) thus far. Finally, it has ceased! I have so much gratitude for the peace within that you’ve made accessible to me. It was instantaneous - the relief I felt! And it has been nearly constant in my life since I first experienced that thoughtless, aware state of presence. Thank you for helping to enlighten humanity to our own nature as well as the many pitfalls that we are likely to encounter in life. Most of all, thank you for your presence, for your being. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I agree it's really nice hearing him talk, and being able to go back to earlier videos. It's okay if thinking resumes. I noticed that they will continue to resume. Becoming aware of drifting into thought, we can get better at purposefully being present and when to think and when not to. Like when going to sleep, it was when I thought about things most and usually about problems. But that is time for sleep only, being present helps keep my attention on my body as it is relaxing and I had experienced insomnia for a few years, not anymore. Sleep well 😁

I've just had one of those moments when something deep inside my inner self 'clicked' Last summer I took myself from away from my toxic environment. I was physically, emotionally and spiritually drained and disconnected, I really dug deep and found my higher consciousness. The experience I had was like a lightbulb switched on in a dark room "amazing" Then I read two Eckhart Tolle books they helped me understand my thinking, how to cope with my ego l!!! I met someone yesterday on Valentine's day, and I like her, I can have a relationship with someone now as I first had to have a relationship with myself. I used to hate myself. But I took my power back , I have love in my heart now... it's a keeper❤ FEED THE LIGHT happy days

There have been many times when I was mighty fortunate to have been "awakwned" so to speak out of presence in order to save a life and even a relationshio. Not every momwnt need be of presence at the expense of all else to enjoy Too. Like Most species on this planet, we ARE an interdependent species. I cant help noting swans that mate for life and seem to be EVER in a state of prenence while living almost Every moment "joined at the hip" like Siamese twins, who would Have to experience presence the same way, even if not at all or any of the same moments. Ans THEN there's new parenthood. Anioher challenge to having time to he present alone. Quite unfortunate is the newborn whose parent is too present too much to be presrnt for the infant.... and species survival too. But I "expand" /digress a bit here. I'm still honing presence "skill" If I waa informed one asoect of life I enjoy and otherwise feel I benefit from was exclusionary to enjoying another, I'm quite cwrtain I would deem that to be a limited belief system for someone Else but Not me.

It's so much more enjoyable being in a relationship now. I can witness the emotions & thoughts that arise and choose whether to act or let them pass. Thought patterns that at one time would have caused such distress in my relationship are now simply that - old thought patterns. And I can even discuss them with my partner if it's something that persists but because they don't carry the same mental weight as they once did neither of us see them as something personal. And off they go...

I've read about The Four Agreements, which are wonderful, and one of the things expressed in the book "The Mastery of Love" was about our "needing someone." The Author, Don Miguel Ruiz, says that if we can be complete in ourselves, we don't really "need" anyone. However, if we happen to find someone who we like being with and grow to love, then that is fine as well.

sounds great, but with the layers of resentment, thinking of how the other is neglecting or not showing love in the way I want to receive it makes it very difficult to be present. In terms of marriage and raising people together, it is hard to maintain connection, lighthearted humor and really feel the appreciation rather than taking everything for granted consistently.

Ask yourself why is the resentment their its within you to rise above the resentment and realizing that whatever the reason of the resentment it took place at that time, don't carry it with you that's why it's hard to enjoy relating in the present moment you aren't there you're in the past. Rise above and accept what is as is, you'll be able to enjoy then.

THANK YOU SO SO MUCH FOR THIS, ECKHART!!! You made me realized alot of things and it changed me and the way I see relationships. I have been in and out relationships because of fear. I just realized, in each relationships that I had, I fully enjoyed it in the beginning of it. And it is because I did not have any concept in my mind in the beginning of the relationship. No concept means no fear. So I was always be present in the beginning of the relationship. But once I get to know them, their past, our interactions, comparing with my past relationships, it created fear and it disturbs the now. It disturbs me from enjoying the present. From now on I wont let any info or past created a concept in my current relationship. I will just always enjoy the now, the present, 100% love with no fear. Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I cried while writing this. Cuz it is just a big revelation for me and my love life!!!!

"Faith" is really our capacity to stay present & aware, making better-informed, "conscious" choices in every aspect of our Life - ET is not about ordinary religions which do not claim that we yourselves are God, a very revolutionary truth indeed - for too many- who prefer to dominate & exploit or benefit from tge bondage of others. Tgey are held pridoner by tge illusion of hierarchies & separateness from others, tye demonisation of others based on religious & cultural "differences" - all fskse. Tgake away those labels & we are all ewual on every level We all seek inner peace, but we dont find it in possessions or in religion or cultural & economic 'advantages'. God is the Light, the Universe experiencing Life through you - you are a beam emanating from the "mainframe" so to speak, the ripple on the surface of the ocean, thus a part of the Ocean, the ocean being a metaphor for God. Once you realise that & understand "Presence" & how the ego within can undermine your power, "faith" becomes something different altogether & you see yourself co-creating with the Higher Power by being a lot more aware of how you experience Life & people. You work to unify & not divide, you see what "division" is, how divisions are created, by whom & what the aims & tge results are - the wirld in its current war-like state, communities suffering & in lack; too few with wealth & too many denied access. All deliberate.

I feel that what ekhart was pointing to was that our minds needs to define everything. " love is this or relationships are that" whereas these limitations only serve as an obstacle to truly relating to the world.

Since he's basically saying to just pay attention to relationships and make the best of them, which is advice no one should ever really need, this proves what he said about spiritual teachers only being able to point someone in the direction of the truth, rather than hand it to them. Rather than memorizing formulas of how to "succeed", the best teacher enlightens the student to discover their own potential, so they can manifest their own conscience to live the moment as they enjoy.

I'm sorry you are going through a difficult time. But it is definitely possible to no longer "need" a partner! Once you connect with your true Self, a Divine being, there is no longer the "need" for a partner. You enjoy life and will start attracting people who are also resonating on this level. Not on a needy level but a healthy level. I am a single woman and am living this reality. The power is within you. All the best!

@@TheSoteriologist No, I am talking about the need for someone to give you love and attention. The longing for the partner's body and intimacy. I am basically talking about loneliness and how to break free from missing another person when he is not around you. The ultimate goal is to love your partner but not to be hurt or sad when your partner may not have time for you or when your beloved one may want to spend more time with his friends than with you. Which is obviously completly OK, but I am talking about how to be freed from the longing, the missing. It's all about learning to be confident and blissfull even alone. I think the only way to that is meditation and letting go of the ego that needs love and attention. Realising that your existence alone is pure love and that your partner does not need to be with you or that you dont even need someone to feel this love.

@@birdiebee5977 That's exactly what I am looking for. I know that every women feels initially this way. It feels awkward for us imagining a life alone, without having someone to cuddle with, a strong arm around us, someone to look in the eyes and share deep moments of love. I have to learn that I don't need another partner for those moments of deep love, I can share them with myself. I just have to figure out how to. I am very happy that you managed to become a free happy single woman!! I really really hope I will go there as well sometime... right now all I know is the feeling of loneliness and the absence of love.
