The Human Pursuit of Happiness | A Gary Vaynerchuk Original

Even the cheer at the end is slow and muted, it’s very and I mean very hard to understand the concept of loving the journey over the trophy.
-
It’s almost impossible when you don’t have the things that you want to understand that the chase of those things if you pick the right path will end up tasting sweeter than the items you amass.
-
When you want 100k followers, when you chase 10k likes a post, you don’t realize how empty it can feel when you get there and more importantly you don’t even know why, they just seem like the right numbers.
-
My friends, please try to start the process of understanding happiness, understanding why you feel the way you do, what makes you insecure and want a fancy car or house, why when you go through your feed you feel #fomo please understand that doing things you love will lead to the things you want even when they don’t pay you what you THINK you need to get what you THINK you want.
Share this with someone you want happiness for.
This was originally a conversation I had with Xian ( / xianlimm ) when I was in Manila and here’s the full conversation here • How to Find Happiness ...

This is one powerful, powerful video! Just some of the many gems: 2:15 - 2:19 "When you do something for money, you quit. When you do it because you love it, you do it forever". 3:15 - 3:27 "I just think a lot of people are trying to achieve success and use fame or money as make-up for a situation they're just not happy about. You have to figure out how to make your day in, day out happier" 3:40 - 3:44 "I will never retire because it's not as fun as working". 4:47 - 5:04 "The gateway to happiness is to love your process whatever that may be, whether that creates wealth or doesn't, if that creates legacy and art or doesn't, that creates impact on the world or it doesn't...You've got to try and figure that out at all costs, and if you're not happy right now, you've got to do something different".

My thing? My thing is creating, drawing, giving people stories or illustrations to perhaps brighten up their days. That's all I want. As for the money aspect I'm not earning a lot yet but the money that I receive I want to put towards more art supplies to create more and well for rent and food and improving my craft. I couldn't imagine going on my life whitout drawing something, it feels unfulfilling anytime that I don't draw even a scribble in a day. I completely get you, Gary and thank you. :)

The truth is, you can enjoy any job or business. It's about attitude and gratitude. If you focus on feeling grateful and have an attitude of giving/sharing happiness with a smile or good service just for the sake of it and no hidden agenda, it's wonderful. The noise in your head of "What's in it for me" & "I don't get paid enough to go/so that extra" is a problem.

Totally agree in this❤️ been through the stigma of delaying my happiness and prioritizing what others think would make me successful, esp. for my family... When in our culture, self-love is seen as a "sin" and selfishness. It was during the NAC 2018, I had the courage to say "this is my life, I will live it in my own terms." it was the push that I need not to feel guilty of the change that I want for myself. My kind of happiness was unpopular to where I am at and not giving a da*n if it isn't is totally liberating. Thank you for sharing your life with us :)

This exact evening, I am starting on pushing content, more precisely an instructional series and making an impact on this world. An impact so much needed without asking for anything in return, but feedback to understand - if what I am producing is in alignment with what I want the people to receive from the content. I want to provide unconditional value and inspiration! Thank you Gary and team, for all of the content you're making happen. Much, much love and respect! If you, the beautiful reader of this comment, do not wan't to hear your "December 2018"-self scream at your current "July 2018"-self for not putting enough work and not making this year REALLY COUNT, you have to put in work NOW! I am in pretty much perfect alignment with my end-of-the-year-self and we're working together, to make him look back at 2018 and say - "Hooly fuck, we're in it now for real! 2019 is going to be phenomenal." Wishing you the very best, internet. Go get yours.

Yeah it’s tough for me to understand sometimes. I get in the trap of wanting more subscribers or more followers not realizing those things are just numbers. It’s the journey and the climb that really has the most impact on us. The other stuff last only for so long. The process is forever. Thanks Gary

I just turned 20, I just been watching your video’s for a bit. My dad has always pushed me into following my dream, working in film because he saw that’s what I’ve wanted. Because he adviced me to, I started a company at 17, purely to be able to work as a freelance videographer legally. Now that I do what makes me happy every day as work, you Gary, are teaching me patience. And to think about what I actually spend money on. What matters. Thanks a lot. X

One of your recent best videos imo. I normally don't comment because I don't want to seem as I just hype myself, copy & paste one of your "catch-phrases" out of your videos and comment like I am enlightened now. But it just feels as if this is the right moment to tell you, that you impacted me so much and really helped me to get my shit together. I'm not super successful nor am I like the ultimate hustle machine. But you made me really think about my life. You gave me the courage to just say fuck it and go all in with my stuff. Anytime I think too much about what other people might think about me, it's like you instantly penetrate that thought and help me to push through. You really achieved your goal to make hustle, gratitude and empathy sexy and alpha (atleast for me) and I could not thank you enough for that. Much love

This is exactly what I've been trying to get back to since last year. I've gotten so caught up with chasing vanity metrics and money and put what I actually love doing on a back burner that I stopped actually doing what I love altogether because I've become wired to think it's not gonna get me what I want... and that's the wrooooooong way to think about it. Still trying to get back on track and wean myself off the superficial pursuits
