This song wasn't released before my time, lol. I let the housemartins fold-in nicely to my portfolio of british new wave at that time, replete with my new wave haircut. FYI: Fat Boy Slim = House Martins.

I've been to the UK, and this song makes me want to visit an English pub so badly!

Fat Boy Slim aka Norman Cook what a good career has from this to Songs like Right here right now made instant popularity

My friend and I rented (I know) this LP in Oklahoma at age 14. Put it on cassette tape that afternoon and have loved them ever since!

I first heard this song during the end credits of "The World's End". This song never fails to put me in a good mood!

Doesn't this make you sad thinking about how simple life was in the 80s and now we have people hating and killing each other and discovering new methods to do so? At least I can say I was there during the best period in life as we know it coz if things don't change, we may not be here much longer.

As a young teenager, I remember them playing this at Glastonbury in the mid-eighties. It was a glorious sunny afternoon, a true 'happy hour' all those decades ago.

As my long time GF from the UK in the 80s introduced me to the HMs, she would always say Brilliant FN band! Ahhh the memories back in the UK, may memories live on forever......

They were great weren't they? The lead singer Paul Heaton also sang with The Beautiful South, you will probably like their music too if you want to check it out.

I remember The Housemartins being on some TV programme or other when this was out. The presenter said something about the spectacular dance moves, and asked them how long it took to learn them. The band just looked at him until they realised he actually meant it and said "about 30 seconds".

Haha... The footshuffle... try it... 30 seconds is about 20 seconds longer than you actually need to learn it !

I have just watched this with a MASSIVE SMILE on my face.. What a lovely blast from the past.. I heard 'the Flying Pickets' on the TV and came up to listen to them and then moved onto 'The Housemartins'.. They were my favourite band when I was younger, and they had broken up way before I was born. I still love them now, and always will. One of the best things about liking old music is surprising everyone else that I know it, I'm only 14 after all.

happy hour makes me think of all my friends back in the mid 80's and the great times back then in Nantwich, wonder where all the names and faces i knew are now..

oh for the days when we were young enough to rush out aftrr work, quick tea and shower, get drunk, drag home in the early hours and somehow still function at work next day.... then do it all again :-)

🤍 🤍es I prefer him singing in this to beautiful south .though he did write some good songs . Here the housemarins tunes were written by the guy Stan Cullinore the guitarist and some by Paul.. Either way I prefer him lead singing here to the beautiful south ..though i do like the beautiful south..but not as much as this band ..paul still going solo I believe

They all went on to success. Paul Heaton and Dave Hemingway would become The Beautiful South, Norman Cook would become Fatboy Slim and of course Stan Cullimore would go on to break the British transfer record when Nottingham Forest sold him up Liverpool in 1995.
