    I don’t know if any of you have Fata Morgana switch edition but when the maid asks me accept her preposition, reject her preposition but it be should be 3 options (there’s still more to be done) And that one doesn’t appear and that’s why I can’t continue with the story lol

  • @Reviews2Go

    @Reviews2Go

    3 жыл бұрын

    That option not appearing typically means a prior dialogue choice was selected incorrectly for moving to the true end paths. This should either be the mirror choice which should have been “extend your hand” rather than the avert your eyes choice. Or the painting selection that should be the “reach into the frame” option. Those two don’t immediately lead to bad endings if you chose the other options. You’ll want to use the skip function to go back to those choices and make sure you choose them to get “There’s still more to be done” to continue on with the main story/true story.

    From what i gathered this game's story is placed in Lisboa, the capitol city of Portugal which in the same day became victim of an earthquake, a tsunami and was burned down completely on november the 1st in 1755 - the era the game seems to be portraying. That brutal natural disaster still weighs heavy in Portuguese history, folklore and inspires artists to this day to create melancholic pieces.

People that see this might feel scammed because they don't treat VNs as real games or think that there's better VNs at there. My personal pov, is that when you reach this level of quality in a story, if its the "best story you've ever read" is entirely subjective and biased from the order you've watched other great stories.

    Do you find visual novels are better then reading books about similar topics? Because I have a hard time locking in on a visual novel. I’ll get a quarter of the way in and just lose interest. But I can’t tell if it’s because of the format or because the story isn’t all that engaging to me. I do find certain books to be that way too but I always seem to finish the books even the bad ones. What is your take on the difference to you?

  • @Chaiberry

    @Chaiberry

    3 жыл бұрын

    For me the music makes the difference, the soundtrack often enhances a scene to be so much stronger than it is in pure writing form, as it does in House of Fata Morgana. I still listen to that soundtrack every now and then and it always brings to mind what happened in the story, it really makes it so memorable

    VNs are more for people who want everything layed out for them. Books are often open to a lot of imagination, which isn't really present in VNs as you see and hear everything that's going on. Or it could be that you haven't found a good VN that fits your genre needs.

    VN can't replace the feeling of reading great books for sure. You could try Clannad or other Key's games. They are good but long (30-50 hours). Other highly regarded VN are Steins; Gate series (sci-fi) and Euphoria (contains many sexual scenes with uncensored patch)

    Limited Run Games did a physical run of this game with normal and collector’s editions back when it initially released. It isn’t for sale on their website anymore but those units are shipping out about now. I don’t know about other retailers, but Best Buy stores have gotten a pretty fair amount of LRG’s physical copies later down the road from their initial run. So that might pop up eventually there. I work at a Best Buy store and have seen many of their games pop up at my store in the past couple of years. Shantae, Risky's Revenge, Seven Sirens, Doom 64, among others. To give you a bit of an idea on a time frame there, LRG’s run of Shantae was done last October and the store I work at got some in for sale this past month. Granted, that time frame might not be until October and that’s a big maybe on whether or not Best Buy will have them. I will admit them not mentioning Best Buy on LRG’s page for this makes me think they might not. But that’s probably your only option unless another retailer does this for LRG or you wanna wait for someone to get their pre order in and buy it third party like on eBay.

    I was just about to spoil this "game's" record. Enduring the opening sequences, it does not seem to be a game. It's no more than a young adult novel told by a "maid" who goes hehehehehe in an attempt to be...what? Cute? Suspenseful? There is no goal so far as I can tell. There is no interaction. It's not animated. The music is on a par with French popular music. Repetitive and endlessly lalala boring while praising itself. And the grammar! I am assuming it was originally written in Japanese. I am assuming it was translated. It's almost as bad as an Amazon product description. I clicked "save" and bolted from this flat, sketchy badly drawn house. And then I looked for a place to whine that I'd just wasted over 40 bucks. This review tells me to hang in there. It's hard to go back but 40 bucks is 40 bucks. I'll try again, but how in the world can it possibly get better? Beats me.
