I also released a review of this game this week. What a weird coincidence. I always enjoy hearing someone talk about underrated games.

It's a good one, and stands out for its artwork, music, and how seriously it deals with surprisingly dark subject matter. It's also arguably the least "anime" of visual novels from Japan. And also very, very depressing! For that reason I wouldn't recommend this as an entry point for VNs, unless you're already really into this genre of storytelling. Not my favorite VN, but I get why it's well regarded.

What would be your favorite VN? I'm searching for a new one atm ~ I think it's very, very hard to have better storytelling than fata morgana. For me definetly one, if not my all time favorite.

@@trashgamerxd7612 Tough for me to choose, and there are still plenty of classics I haven't gotten around to yet. I'm a big fan of the Higurashi series (another great blend of horror and character drama), but it's a bit unfair of a comparison, and a bit much to readily recommend with its eight long VNs to read for the full story. I also really enjoyed the Danganronpa trilogy, but I get it'd be more accurate to call those mystery-solving adventure games. A couple shorter recs I can give are VA-11 Hall-A (a sort of cyberpunk slice-of-life that's more about the "vibe" than the plot, and has a god-tier soundtrack), and Doki Doki Literature Club Plus (a pleasant surprise for me, as I feel it was praised too much for its famous gimmick, but not nearly enough for the quality of its prose-particularly evident in its bonus side stories IMO).

@@trashgamerxd7612You should check out Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, and then it’s sequel Umineko no Naku Koro Ni. It is a slow burn, just like Fata Morgana, but similarly worth it.

I’m also here asking for your favorite VN! I only just purchased this guy physical copy so I’m very excited to read this. I’ve always taken an interest in darker, macabre, and tragic stories.

So could i just watch a play through of this on KZread with it being a visual novel or would i be missing some gameplay element by not playing the actual game?

You could go through it on youtube, but you would miss certain interactive elements, and trying to navigate reading a video recorded script would be jarring to the experience, mainly where background tunes are concerned. Music quality is my personal highlight to the novel. Its quality rivals that of some of the best game devs

Don't know what happened between you and that guy but I'll awnser your question. It's like a book, with visuals, and just like 10 times longer than your average book. So yes, it's like a kindle book, but with visuals, musics and is longer.

The children for me just talked like they were noble raised which they were not adults

Honestly personally I found the last chapter too short and things like requiem for innocence and short stories like assento dele my favourite part
