No matter what scary game kaif plays, getting stuck on a section for half an hour will always be the perfect break from the spooks. And the parkour fails. Gotta love them

I've watched playthroughs so far, but I always like seeing new reactions of others. My favorite part of the game is how Poppy says, "You deserve an explanation." then proceeds to not explain and just tell you that they need you.

fr people act as if learning that the toys rose up and ate everyone is an explanation. Wow, what's poppy gonna tell us next, that the sky is blue? How dense do you need to be not to have figured the hour of joy out for yourself?

To be fair, the “weird chemical” that the smiling critters spray were just supposed to be scents (rose for bobby bearhug, lavender for catnap, vanilla for dogday etc.) so in that way, since they would just work as an “air freshener” i guess? Its not that weird that the playtime company was able to sell them

Thats also the reason it only went wrong with catnap, because they tried to experiment there to get the “sleepy red smoke” thing for melatonin to work. Which isnt needed for the others

@@coolgelliegamer9825 (don't know if there's lore conflicting this but) Melatonin was invented in 1958 but its properties weren't discovered until mid '70s, and the company lasted between the 1930's and late 1960's, so the red smoke is probably something else. Considering its effects, the red smoke is obviously a psychoactive substance, and LSD's history matches up really cleanly as it was a novel substance in pop science during the '50s and wasn't outlawed (in 'merica at least) until the mid-60's.

@@gamingpotatobr8327 Playtime co was founded in the 30's. Elliot Ludwig's daughter (I believe) died in the 60's, but the company remained active even past his own death. It finally closed down in 95 after the hour of joy. And the game takes place 10 years later, so 2005, when the player returns after getting a mysterious letter saying that all of the missing people who worked there, are still there.

When it comes to that opening cartoon I always like to imagine myself as a member of the executive board going “Who the hell thought this was a good idea?! Who needs to get fired?!”

Its insane how much the quality of poppy playtime has improved. The entire cartoon series thing was animated so well while being creepy and the huggy coming out of the TV scene was just as good Like everything has taken a step up. Its nice that there are some people that are part of their team that are passionate and don't just want to make NFTS out of this

@@rhyderleming5851 i never said this was an NFT project since it wasnt. It was just them branching out to the NFT market, making it so you had to buy NFTS to get some of the *LOREEE* which is just scummy. Poppy playtime has always and will always (hopefully) be a horror

Chapter 1 is just a big mystery with one crazy chase scene. Chapter 2 is the beginning of scary where it's evident that Huggy Wuggy is in fact, not the only one. Chapter 3 is a horror frenzy. Like they took the horror level and up it by 11.

Gotta love that it only took 2 seconds of CatNap being on the screen for Kaif to immediately identify him as the antagonist

Honestly beginning to think the thing preventinf the hour of Joy from becoming the Hours of joy, was the prototype stopping the senseless slaughter. It was known for killing or at least fatally injuring people, though mostly only injure, granted it never senselessly slaughtered groups of innocents. It hasn't killed you though its had plenty of chances to do so, it even saves you against catnap, killing the one it once saved (catnap) for you (who we presume was saved by the prototype during the hour of joy). So it makes me wonder if Poppy has been lying this whole time, and the reason it locked her in the cage was to stop all the other toys from following more of her orders. Afterall, huggy was just a sentry bot of sorts. Mommy was a psycho controlled mostly by motherly instinct... yet she didn't kill poppy, rather "saved" her from you (in her eyes anyway, most likely). So what if this whole thing is to kill the prototype to stop it from stopping her again. Not only that, but it seems strange that Ollie talks to you all the way up until catnap is dead. While also sending you keys to the area's he is also so strangely in... ontop of catnap yelling at you to leave the playhouse over the phone that ollie calls you from. Seems obvious poppy is the mastermind behind this all.

You do realize that it's called the Hour of Joy for the sole reason that every single sentient toy killed **EVERYONE** indiscriminately. It didn't matter if you were a child or adult, an employee or visitor, guilty or innocent. They were all out for *blood* because they were enraged by those that put them in those experiments and didn't care if the innocent was slaughtered. They killed everyone **IN AN HOUR.** It was an hour of senseless slaughter. If it took longer than an hour, it'd be something like Five Hours of Joy or whatever, kinda like the Seven Hour War in Half Life 2. It was called the Seven Hour War because earth was conquered in that amount of time. Also, the Prototype is able to mimic voices and is capable of going a long distance while watching the player. Yes, it could kill, but here's the thing: it's using the player to **LEARN.** There's a tape that shows a scientist talking to the Prototype and it thanked him because it was learning a lot just like how the scientist was learning about the Prototype. Another thing, the Prototype didn't stop CatNap in order to save the player. It knew CatNap was critically injured from the electric fire he suffered and gave CatNap a chance to accept death with dignity and CatNap knew it was time to die and give himself up to the Prototype, sacrifice himself for the greater good. At any time the Prototype could kill the player or even save the player, why not do it at any given time they're alone or separated from Poppy? Helping the player escape will foil Poppy's plan but we know the player won't abandon at this point; too deep in the sea of agony to turn back now.

This was kicking around my head too, though to a lesser effect, I think you had more puzzle pieces than I did. Thanks for putting it into words that I couldn't find. It is weird that Ollie is now suddenly quiet. No "thanks for getting rid of that guy" or anything. No closure from Ollie. But then, we just went STRAIGHT from boss fight to a meetup with Poppy, to ending the chapter. So who knows, next chapter might have more from Ollie. For the record, my initial thoughts had it that he might be Catbee (or whatever it is called). Would be nice to meet a genuinely friendly toy monstrosity for once.

That was a huge step up from chapter 2 both the graphics and monster designs improved and cat nap's concept was so cool and i couldnt help but think of scarecrow from arkham knight and injustice 2

Major missed opportunity to add an awful death animation in the crushing pit similar to the crushing room scene in Saw 5

Someone else already pointed it out, but I'll raise awareness. Odd that Ollie went quiet after Catnap went down. Is Ollie Catnap? They both seemingly were able to use your radio? And if so, does that mean he just wanted you out, because he never once wanted you dead until the bitter end, just "gone" "leave". Which could point towards Poppy being the ultimate villain after all, as the Prototype might have actually saved the Player (as potentially seen in that second nightmare sequence), explaining how you got out of the facility during the Hour of Joy, and Poppy being the one pulling the strings being the uprising. (Those blood red eyes don't help.) It could be she wants the Prototype dead because she is the one wanting to go on a rampage OUTSIDE the facility. Urgh. I agree with Kaif. We need MatPat to do a theory before he retires.

One of the best things about these games getting new chapters is honestly just seeing how either right or wrong MatPat has been (and for this one he's been suprisingly accurate from what i've seen so far)

I was watching this game yesterday being played by a friend of mine, didn't even notice they made a Bioshock reference.

CatNap is an avatar of Stan: Cat, purple, wants to kill Kaif, all checks out.

Literally was just thinking about when a video for Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 would drop, perfect timing

I think that inklusion of the analogue horror type stuff at the start was pretty good

Honestly, is it weird that I feel like Huggy Wuggy is not dead? I mean out of the three bosses, he's the only whose death we didn't see. Sure falling into the dark abyss would kill a person. But this is Huggy Wuggy. He is built to stretch like a rubber, he is a doll, I don't think fall damage would really applied to him. And we only saw him bleed after bumping into that whatever you call it as he fell. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw him as the one who is attacking Missy considering he is probably badly injured and hungry if he does survive.

Mommy is the one built to be stretched and squished. Huggy was essentially just a funny looking teddy bear. Meaning there wouldn't be a whole lot to protect any of his organs or bones. Especially from an easily more than three story drop.

When Kaif pushed the button for Bubba, how quickly his smile went away into shock, and then just horrified.

I would love to see a Kaif F.E.A.R. playthrough, even if it doesn't spook you it's still a solid shooter.

I like how they made the tape actually feel like something we aren't suppost to see, I've never seen something like it be pulled off and make you have that feeling

i could never play these types of games, my biggest fear in horror is the chase sequences

Ollie guiding the player through the chapter reminded me of gregory guiding cassie in security breach dlc

They see it as a reference to the trash compactor in the original trilogy(Specifically A New Hope), look it up if you want the original scene.

What's up with companies making characters specifically designed to aid you sleep the exact characters you'd never want to ever sleep near. First with Security Breach Moon then now Catnap(at least they added sleeping gas onto Catnap so you kind of have no choice).

Ok, I've been thinking about the opening cartoon they showed. It was appropriately creepy for a horror game however considering the fact it's a canon, in universe cartoon, what was Playtime co. expecting when they made it? The beginning was cute but that ending was super creepy, you'd think they would make Catnap not creepy or not have the other critters break into psychotic laughter before falling to sleep. They were inviting parents to worry about what they were showing to their children.

I think the point is that it was edited to be creepier than it actually was. It’s for a news broadcast after all. Satanic panic and all that. Also you just gotta generally suspend your disbelief. Most of this story is insane within the context of a toy company. It’s like wanting to get something from someone, so instead of doing the sane thing of buying it from them or stealing it, you decide to nuke the entire country to get your hands on the item instead. That’s what playtime co did. Kinda like how FNAF became completely ungrounded in reality by the 3rd game, Poppy Playtime has been ungrounded in reality from the beginning.
