Rain and mud is the reason I switched to hammocks, I never looked back!
for as expensive as that tent is: I would be so mad that it gets that wet inside
This is the main reason why I switched to the hammock. I couldn’t stand setting up and tearing down a tent in the rain. Tarps are great for rainy conditions, pack it up last and stuff it on the outside of the backpack. I also find condensation to be way less of an issue.
I love that camera shot you did at the beginning of this video of you getting out of the tent while it was raining. That captured the feel of the A.T. in GA PERFECTLY! Thanks for posting.

@@razzbazle1582 thanks Razz. No plans worth mentioning. Just random 1-2 day trips on the GA AT here and there. I’m going to school full time so my time is pretty limited. Thanks for asking.

Totally agree about that shot man! How great is this, we get to watch Taylor hike the AT again!! Really dig her hiking and gear style…
Condensation is why I went for a double wall tent. Durston X-Mid 1P. I realized recently that the temperature ratings for bags are complete bs, especially in high humidity, so you've gotta keep your stuff dry. God speed, Taylor!
So glad you can have two nights of warmth and be dry. Thank you for sharing
I finished watching the hike you did two years ago. That was great. You were very high energy and enthusiastic. Many smiles per mile. Now, with this newest hike, I am looking forward to your adventure. It is great you can do this again. But, there is a difference as compared to your last hike. So far I noticed less smiles per mile. Almost as if nature is challenging you more. I know what that is like. I hope all is well. Love that you can do this.
No rain, no pain, no Maine! You got this!
I'm glad you got to stay at Above The Clouds Hostel because I was there that night and I got to meet you. 😊
Enjoying your video,safe traveling 🙏 10:07
nice.getting the feel of a true adventurer.cant wait to start 2 weeks from now.tysm😊
So glad I'm not the only one who hikes in a survivor buff!
Hey Taylor! Hard rain first thing, what a a bummer. Glad it cleared up. That was the craziest water source! Huge thanks to the angels that maintain it. Amazing how the universe balanced things out and got you some hostel reservations! The trail provides! 🙏 Thanks for bringing us along today. I hope tomorrow’s miles are kind. Keep truckin’ and be well. -Grateful
Nice that the Army had a water point there. A large poncho, set up as a tarp over your tent will make it drier and warmer. Even just a couple of candles can warm and dry a tent and its contents. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick
I can’t hike anymore so I appreciate the views and trail footage you use. What about interviewing some interesting people you come across? Just something short. Why are they hiking the AT. Favorite experience, etc.
Lovin this!!!!! Wishing you dryer days and nights!!!!!
Thanks, Taylor, for taking those few extra minutes to film scenes like 5:13 when you'd probably just as well get on with the day's miles. It's the little things that make your App Trail videos a bit more interesting than most of the others. Be safe and thanks for sharing the adventure... :)
When it is freezing rain and hostels say they are booked, CALL BACK, ask if they have room on the floor, they can usually make room on the floor. Hypothermia risk is real and hostel floor will save your life. Some people have slept in bathrooms along the trail during snow storms.
Good video with some good views, so let's keep on hiking, lots of rain..
Your Home in the Woods is the absolute best! You'll love Bonnie and Paul. Enjoy!
Love seeing you in your element. Hope to see you school vacation week with your mom!!
Love that you are always so positive and still smile in tough situations. 😘 Keep smiling kid!

@@Basic6936 why are watching?
So many people talked about how bad sassafras was ... I didn't know it existed until after I passed it.
Don't be hard on yourself. We all believe in you. It's not always gonna be ideal circumstances but there will be better days. You got this ! May the force be with you 🧘♀️
The trail provides…..😊. Happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️
Something always works out. The universe will provide. That is why I like my double walled tent although heavier.
I’m excited to get to watch you hike the Appalachian again. I watched your 1st one. At 56 years old I am so envious/proud of you. I want to some day at least do part of the trail!!
Amazing!
Thanks for taking us all along with you! 😊
And that's why I love watching your hike! You always stay positive and smile no matter what!
That’s why I personally only use double walled tents. Nemo are my favorite and stay super dry
So glad Above the Clouds fit you in! Rest well, dry out, and enjoy friends. ✌️
It was great meeting you at Around the Bend Hostel. Good luck with your hike.
So checking out the links in your description box. Wanting to do some section hiking on the AT.
Are you going to try and find a more water repellant type tent? If so please share what type.
Oh no way! I just passed Woody gap this morning, maybe I'll see ya on the trail! The rain was definitely rough though haha
The AT says welcome back in only the way the AT can lol. Have a great walk. Triple T, '21.
Snickers bar going into the last mile before getting picked up for the hostel...doesn't get much better than that !!! :)
Love the video work you're doing on the trial. Your videos are fun.
Yay, you got a dry place to sleep. You looked so happy. Keep trekking. 😀
Happy St. Patrick's Day! 🍀
So glad to see you back on the AT! I followed your entire journey in 2021. You are truly inspiring. I watched this morning while I was on my daily walk. Blessings to you with prayers for your health and safety !
Very soggy day. So glad you were able to get into Above the Clouds and dry out you and your gear. Thanks for sharing
Glad you have a warm place to stay. Happy Hiking 🏕🥾💕
So glad you was able to get a hostel to dry your stuff out 😊 Love watching your journey as I’m planning my first attempt for the AT NOBO Solo hike sometime mid February to mid March 2024
Please talk more about what you must do with your food at a campsite. Are there two types of campsites? One that lets you camp there without a bear can as long as you place your food in the mental container provided? The other campsites require a bear can? How do you know the difference between campsite? Do A.T. Trail Guide Books reveal this information?
Mama said there’d be days like this. Soldier on!
Awesome job! Those hostels must be a Godsend when you’re hiking in that kind of weather.
Awesome beautiful vlogging hiking and scenery all the very best health and happiness.
Got to bring a tart to put the tarp over at the tent
Watched your first AT hike. Good luck on second one. Being from Ohio I enjoyed your visit to Hocking Hills, great place to hike. I seriously think there is a huge amount of hikers on trail this year.
Great attitude while getting out of your tent ⛺️ while raining. I’m glad you found a place to get everything dry & ready for more of your AT journey… Happy hiking Taylor 🥾
Hey Taylor… Love your DAILY vids! Welcome back!!!! I was hoping to begin an early retirement this yr and start training for a ‘24 AT Thru-hike. Unfortunately, my wife was recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer and now that’s on indefinite, if not permanent hold. Your hike this year will absolutely lift my spirits and I’ll be watching everyday. Best of luck and keep pushing ⬆️.

Love to you and your wife, from a random newbie hiking enthusiast in the UK!! I've been deeply inspired by AT, PCT & CDT thru hikers. I'm disabled (mobile, but not fully) and on a very limited income, and the UK doesn't have anything quite like the big 3 trails or the spectacular vastness of the US wilderness. However, I've still been having some amazing short ventures out, just for a day or two, mostly wild camping in a secret spot up a Welsh cliff or hammocking in the woods whenever I can. My gear is cheap, bulky and mostly second hand, some days I do struggle to hike or set up/put down things, and sometimes I just don't have the money for the bus/train, or my symptoms are really bad.. but the times I can do it are magical and make all the struggles worth it. Those days really keep me sane! I've worked with patients and their loved ones in the past, and I would strongly encourage you to take a few days here and there to go for a hike, whether just for the day or for a couple of nights. You can't be there for your partner unless you also look after yourself, and most loved ones I worked with told me it really helped them both. They could be there for their partner even better than before as they were in a better mental state, their partners loved it too - no one wants to see their partner give up all their activities to care for you, even if you know that they really want to.. so it's just nice to see them take some time to relax and have fun, you know? It's just good to replenish your own mental fortitude and look after your own mental wellbeing. it's hard carrying all that worry and fear, sometimes you need to just set it down and blow off some steam, and that's really healthy. If not for yourself, for your wife. But it's definitely also for yourself as your wellbeing matters too! Again, much love and I wish you both all the best in this battle 💖💖
I’m just starting to follow your hike now lol
GREAT! starting tomorrow, and just so you know... the AT knew I was coming, and that weather's because of it. sorry lol
I'm glad everything worked out. I hope the rest of the adventure goes as well.
I was so happy to hear Lucky found you a spot. I was hoping he would. And nice to know you are set tomorrow too.
I always use the SOL Bivy and I never have the sleeping bag getting wet. The summer one weight is less than five ounces and the full is eight ounces. I carry a 50 degree quilt eight ounces and summer SOL so less than a pound and works great to 30 degrees. I am a cold sleeper also with a 1/4 head to hip foam pad. Years have kept me dry!
above the clouds Rocks!!!!!! happy hiking peach
So happy she got a hostel. Hiking in the bubble will be something to adjust to. 🌻🌻
Had to watch, since #2 Pencil called out for you through the Whites. I have to say I completely get why he is enamored with you.
Very nice to see your video being back on trail. The woods look great. Carry on.
Hey Taylor! I’m happy that you’re doing the AT again and living life on your terms! I’m originally from the Lakes Region and now my family and I are living in NC. We used to live Bryson City but had to go where work took us. We’re now about an hour out of Asheville. But so cool to come across your KZread channel and “meet” a fellow hiker and one from the Granite State! Stay safe and well!
Many greetings from Germany! Never give up 😊
I'm glad the sun came out for ya !! Stay positive !!
It will all work out. Just add footsteps and you'll be at K. NAHAMPSHIRE ROCKS!!!
I loved woody gap to blood mountain .
Thanks!
Cant say Dyneema tents will help you there. SilNylon for the win
Glad your back on the trail talor . I have watched a lot of your adventures in the last couple years!
What a soggy night and morning that must have been. Funny how things worked out for you!
A++ great to see....good luck!
What a miserable start to the day. I feel you on that! Glad it improved.
Glad it worked for you 😊
Good to hear that things worked out for hostels and drying your gear out
Great to again see you on the trail, Taylor. Greetings from my log home here in Twin Mtn!😀.
Thankyou for videoing your AT hike for us! Keep safe!
Perfect video today.
What good luck! So... not casting shade at all but... for those considering gear selection, it makes a big difference if you have a hostel/motel etc. every 30 miles, or if you must rely on that gear regardless of the weather, for multiple days at a time. The other long trails do not have as many local resources, so keep that in mind when considering how good gear items might be under very different circumstances. Looking forward to more videos from the AT!

Dry and clean is good. 😊
So glad to be watching your second experience on the AT. Just curious, is it weird being “Stretch-less”? I’m sure you’re going to have so many new trail pals. Looking forward to mornings with Taylor. 👍🏻
Thankyou
Above the clouds was cool Enjoy
Here's hoping Paul and Bonnie are making their chili the night you stay!
Well well! Off again! Anyway to monthly support ya again? Good luck! Loved your first hike… 👍Ned in NC..
Definitely time for a hostel or two after a rain soaked night.
Gooch Gap sounds like a fun place
Whoo-hoo!
Being cold occasionally is good for muscle healing.
Hidden Pond is run by friends of mine. They hiked last year. Was hoping to see them make it into a video.

Your vlogs are always great no matter what the situation might be...so thanks for sharing..I am sure it has to be a tall order to do these vlogs in such unfavorable conditions...so take care and be careful!

Are you filming all of this on your phone? It looks great. Things have changed soooo much since my last thruhike - Noodleman Ga-Me 94', PCT (attempt 03')
I don't really have any experience with these things, so I was wondering, do you think a tent with a rain fly would work better in conditions like this than a single wall tent? I'm glad you got some hostels!
