The horn is sounded, the grill installed and the bonnet latches are latching. Bugeye Build Ep. 128

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Bugeye's grill is secured to the bonnet and the latches are put in place. In episode 127 I forgot to let you know how the horn sounded... watch this video and then you'll know.
Here's the link to the AHEXP forum thread I mentioned regarding the latches for the front flip hood: tinyurl.com/32kr3d9x
Just a quick disclaimer... this may not be the "correct" way to do this job but it's how I did it with what resources I have on hand.

Genius solution for the hood latches! You have put a lot of thought into the project as well as the hard work. Well done!

I really like your bonnet latches - so much better than strap configurations you see on other front opening modifications. I did see one setup - I think on BugEyeGuy's website, where they had used a pair of Corvette latches in the normal place in front of the windscreen. Seemed to work really well but it leaves the sides unsupported - but so does the original system. Now that we have heard the horn I think it's well past the time we heard the engine running. I suspect you already have - I know I certainly would have started it as soon as it was installed.

Thanks. I wanted something that didn't look out of place and was relatively straightforward to install.

holy cow, good and loud is right, LOL. Your bonnet latch is a good solution. It hides nicely. My father attached those rubber T straps to his race car (that's in the garage) and they really stuck out proud from the fender below the bonent when not in use, they caused rot in that section of the rocker panel, and I'm not a fan of them. I would rather have leather straps than that big rubber T handle, but on his race car I intended to use hood pins (somehow) that I bought from Summit Racing. But they'll be fine because it's a race car. Haven't figured that out yet. The other bugeyes in the garage open the original direction, which I'll have to change LOL

Great way to latch the bonnet. It may be time to replace that hammer though.
