Fascination with celebrity never dies. The desire to connect to Hollywood - the excitement, the razzle-dazzle - remains as strong today as it was in the ’50s. And Palm Springs will always be part of that Tinseltown allure. Locals and visitors still marvel at many celebrities’ houses, some for their architectural prowess, others for their curious history. That’s why we hit the road to learn more about them. Think of this as a do-it-yourself celebrity home tour. The houses we visited are easily accessible and beyond architectural mystique. The road trip steers you into some of the most divine neighborhoods in the Coachella Valley, each revealing a fabulous slice of history and many offering some of the most unforgettable views to boot. Buckle up!
The Rat Pack was an informal group of entertainers, the second iteration of which ultimately made films and appeared together in Las Vegas casino venues. They originated as a group of A-list show business friends who met casually at the Los Angeles home of Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. In the 1960s, the group featured Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop, and (before falling out with Sinatra in 1962) Peter Lawford, among others. They appeared together on stage and in films in the early 1960s, including the films Ocean's 11, and Sergeants 3; after Lawford's expulsion, they filmed Robin and the 7 Hoods with Bing Crosby in what was to be Lawford's role. Sinatra, Martin, and Davis were regarded as the group's lead members after Bogart's death.

Dean Martin was the charisma of The Rat Pack. Without Dean’s every day appeal. No one would have paid attention to the rest of them. Love Dean Martin ❤️

I love Dean martin too. But he was never "Chairman" of The Rat Pack. Frank Sinatra was.

He was the charming one and most friendly.
Lauren Bacall's exact words to the boys the next morning were "You look like a pack of goddamned rats!" and the name stuck. She became the first official den mother. Always fun to see you and Steve running around together!

I love and miss you Dad 😪😪🙏🏼💝🫂 Wish you was still here with us.

Palm Springs looks beautiful 💯💯💯
I love watching both of you 💜👍😁
Thanks Steve and Scott
Thank You Scott! I love the Rat Pack 🖤 Palm Springs is absolutely beautiful! Thank You for taking us along with you.
Old Palm Springs is fantastic. It reminds me of Old Florida. Car ports are wonderful. Best architectural designs ever. I used to go here with my parents in the 60‘s. I lived in a house like these in Nassau Bahamas. Palm Springs is being ruined now by an invasion of a certain group of people. Peter Lawford asked my twin and I to dance at the Pump Room in Ambassador East in Chicago. Dad said No. My twin and I were also told to “ get to work” by Dean Martin’s director for the Golddiggers. Thank you, Scott!! All my love to you and your dog

I lived in the Coachella Valley for 24 years, where I first lived in Palm Springs for a couple of years and at one point actually stayed with a friend for a while in Old Las Palmas, just around the corner from Elvis and Pricilla’s Honeymoon hideaway ☺️ I love watching your videos, as they bring me back to that time, where I’ll be watching saying to myself, “Oh, I know exactly where that is!” and “OMG, I passed that place so many times!”….. Like Melvin’s….. Never ever went there though, obviously, lol…..

Thank you Rochelle I’m glad I could bring you down memory lane !
Love the style of houses there. Did Sammy Davis Jr have a home there too? Frank Sinatra's house there was where my dad got pushed into the pool as a 'joke'...while on duty for the Secret Service and Frank got clothes for my dad to change into. My dad was always bringing that up, for when he would meet new friends. He loved telling that story. What a time in the world it was back then.
He grew up 20 minutes from where I live in Steubenvilke Ohio. There's a festival every year that his daughter always attends. Fantastic actor and singer. Absolute legend!
All the time I've spent in California and I've never thought to look for these kind of places so I appreciate every video you do
Two of my favorite guys collaborating! Love it! You guys always work so well together! xoxo
I love watching both of ya together!!!! You make a wonderful team!!!! Keep it going😄😄😄😄😄😄
Love Palm Springs, so love mcm homes absolutely love Dean Martin’s old house 💜💚
I always love marathon-watching Scott on Tape! I had just watched your Palm Spring massacre video where I was introduced to your friend, Steve. So I went to the Retired With Steve & Jim channel, watched a few of his videos for the first time and subscribed to him too. I watched his Rat Pack video and then was delighted to see you had just uploaded your Rat Pack video only 5 minutes ago. What are the odds? It was great watching them back to back! I loved seeing the houses from his perspective and then yours. You do a great job showing us little details like zooming in on a bench, cactus, & trees. That makes it feel like I'm right there with you guys. Keep up the good work, and thanks for introducing me to other great channels! 👍 ✅
Melvyns is one of my top spots to visit when in PS
The palm trees are so beautiful.Tony
Would love to go touring with you. You always make me chuckle and you go to such cool places. So glad I found your videos.

"Scott", thank you so much for making this video of the Notorious B.I.G, he is my all time favorite rapper. You did a really good job on this. I'm sure Chris Wallace, would be very proud. Thanks again Scott!!!
I love Steve's hat,Scott should wear one too.Tony
I love the rat pack, I went to Vegas and stayed in the Sahara before it closed down and that was amazing! Dean Martin, who always looked drunk was, in fact, tea total and the whiskey in his glass was ice tea! This video was amazing. I love them, jealous your can visit these! I’m in the U.K. so watching these brings me that bit closer. Thank you.

Dean was no tea totaler. He liked to drink. He just wasn’t a drunk.
Thanks for putting this video together. We enjoy looking at the former homes of Hollywood royalty when in PS. This past June, my husband and I were married in Frank Sinatra's Twin Palms home. What a super-special event it was. (I still catch a little Ma & Pa Kettle on occasion!)
Thanks for your story. It’s very entertaining. I love old Palm Springs history I love the vibe of Palm Springs. Nothing like being in Palm Springs when it’s 120°.
I love old homes like that Wish they still made them like that
All of your content is fascinating. Thanks Scott, and keep up the great work!
Loved this .. Scott thanks 🙋♀️ Hi Steve is here too 🙋♀️
Once again you have produced an excellent vlog. Love your collaborations with Steve. Palm Springs has a magical history.
Wow!! That would be so awesome to see in person. Awesome vlog👍😎

Great video, I love when you and Steve film together 😊
Love looking at that homes there. Thanks guys!
I think new houses and architecture are over rated. Someone who loves and understands retro and history needs to save Dean Martin's home and keep it as it is. It's a nice house! Maybe that's what's happening, considering I've seen two videos on the house within a year and it hasn't been messed with. P.S. Does Steve have a channel?

Retro..... the term used by half the population of the United States who are unfortunately for them under 44 years old and don't remember this golden age of America. You have no idea what you missed !
@minnae.1747

@@toddhaak9401 I missed it by a year, lol. I remember being into design, even as a little child. Granted at first I hated many things that I ended up loving as an adult. I do live more in the past than in the present. Luckily I love live shows (music), so there's something to keep me attached to the present world.

@@minnae.1747 being an older American now I believe that America needs to regress to the things that just worked better back in the 40s 50s 60s Etc. And I mean that in every way psychologically, socially spiritually and economically. Glad you appreciate things from the past ! By doing so you've really tapped into a lot of treasures.

@@toddhaak9401 I think past is safe, because it has already happened. The current life is unsafe, because things are in motion and about to change. But to use young people as an example, the current way things are happening is not improving people's mental health. So, there are things that are not working. But then the next generation will take over and so on and on, the story goes. Personally I want to be a flag bearer for the past as long as I live. It's like promoting history. The one's who remember should talk about it.
Awesome Video Scott, I'm really loving the videos you have been putting up since you came back from LA
Love it scott, you covered so many places that i cant even think of anything else other then the joker and the joker stairs, once you done that, i would be running out of ideas lol awesome job as always, your a legend
Love the Rat Pack. This was a great video. Thank You Scott.
Love your videos.
Celebrities are so disposable now that I doubt we'll ever have any memorials for most of them.
2 of my favorites. Steve and Scott. You do the best videos
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 great video Scott , you and Steve perfect combo! 🙋🏼♀️🇮🇹 greetings from Italy !
Great job scott one of my favorite groups. Have a few books on them.
Actually Humphrey Bogart was an original rat packer, with the female rat packers Lauren Bacall, Angie Dickinson, Shirley McClain and of course, Marilyn Monroe, as well as Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop!!!
I have some amazing video that Mike Lebell the old boxing promotor, sent me years ago when we did an Ebay business together. He loved the Ingleside Inn...... It was of his wife and he. I Was able to email Melvyn a couple times after Mike's death about him as well. It was great fun. Thank you for the video Scott!! Hi Steve!! xo
Great video Scott the rat pac was always something I was interested in I would watch them with my grandparents. Again love the video bro
I stumbled upon this video and really, really enjoyed it! Both of you are great hosts and very informative! My wife and I took our e-bikes in this neighborhood and had a great time . The area there is just wonderful! We rode past these homes but had no clue who's house was owned by who? Lol...Thanks again so much for making this, makes me want to go again then eat lunch at Sherman's!

Great video from the houses from the 3 rat pack , plus Jerry Lewis home , hope to see Sammy Davis Jr.'s home
i saw them live in las Vegas i turned 21
Lawford was their Pimp so to speak.
Scott Michaels from dearly departed did an extensive deep dive on this house a few months ago
Hi Steve!! -Imagine living in the house where Marilyn Monroe met JFK ?!?! 😮😮😮 Lawford-World’s ultimate “wing-man!!”
You forgot Richard Conte & Ben Gazzara & Robert Loggia
I love a plaque too xxx
Scott Michaels did a video on Dean Martin's house a few months ago. Completely abandoned. If I recall correctly the remnants of the pool were pretty ghastly, Sunset Blvd-like.
This was a good video
