I grew up in Banning so we were always visiting Palm Springs. My father was a gardner & landscaper for Bob Hope. The homes you showed were very familiar. My father used to take us around & show us homes. Liberace' s home used to have candelabras on both sides of his front door. Disney's home had bushes in the shape of Micky Mouse and other characters. My daughter loves Palm Trees. Interesting fact, is that they're not natural to Palm Springs, they're shipped in & planted. My dad worked at many homes there during the 60's de died 1976. THANK YOU for this trip down Memory Lane.

This is so fun. I grew up in Orange County and went on day trips to Palm Springs with my parents in the 50’s. I loved the old Palm Springs. The homes were real homes and their residences in “Hollywood” were bigger but still homes. Not McMansions.

Love Palm Springs and as a kid I use to go to a friends house to swim and when you look up, you’d see Bob Hopes house and we sometimes here the music coming from there when he had partys. My mom meet Liberace twice, Elvis and Jason Robards when she work at the mall that use to be there.

The Casa Adaire house (toward the beginning of your video) Elizabeth Taylor didn't just stay there she actually owned it for many years. I cleaned it for a number years a long time ago. There were many wonderful pictures of celebrities that partied in the house on the walls of the house. I use to polish the original piano that Cole Porter played at. There was a big picture on the piano of him playin it in the house. Who's who of the old days partied in that house, including JFK. It was awesome to see those pictures and turn and see the exact spot they stood. The swimming pool is the largest private residential pool in Palm Springs. They no longer allow a pool of that size. It's huge with an old mosaic tile design. Massive outdoor kitchen. The dog house was big with it's own air conditioner. The master suite was beyond huge. The bathroom was palatial with it's own fireplace taller than me and massive beam ceilings with the heaviest looking marble tub in the center I lovingly called the coffin. It also very uncomfortable to lay in it. The toilet and bidet are in a separate room the size of small bedroom. The family room was massive all wood paneling high ceilings and wet bar that spanned the width of the room. Lot's and lots of french doors. Hated cleaning them. Two separate guest houses. One of them had a god awful ugly mosaic tiled bathroom. The entire bathroom was covered. Walking in there made one feel dizzy. The varying colors and designs was insane. The house, in my opinion, wasn't the prettiest. just old. Hated the aqua faded outdoor tile. Huge fountain outside in the back with a Sculptor. The main house kitchen had been remodeled and was huge. multiple ovens, burners, huge fridge, etc. Both Laundry areas at either end of the house were so tiny with no counters to fold clothes. LOL. I remember those days. Took way to many hours to clean. When they started renting it out for events for $1,000 a night after she died we had to hire 3 others to help clean it. People can be messy, including rich people.

Palm Springs has always been one of my favorite places, I guess initially it started with the architecture and then spread to the warmth and friendliness of every one there, both tourists and locals alike. And then there’s all the history with the glamour and excitement that was the mid century! Would consider retiring there at some point in the future. Thank you for a great visit Jordan! 🤠

What a great vlog of my favorite place. I’ve seen many of these beautiful homes and I love the way you described the history on each one. I bought a home in Palm Springs in February 2020, and I love it, my happy place. I started coming out here in 2012 and knew immediately that I wanted to live here full-time one day.

The Moorten Botanical Garden is cool. Tons of different types of cacti. They had a certain cactus that only grows backwards. Instead of growing up towards the sky, it grows downwards towards the ground. Bizarre!
