The History of Professional Wrestling Video Games Part 1 (1982-1997.) 𝖕𝖆𝖞𝖓𝖊𝖝ᴋ𝖎𝖑𝖑𝖊𝖗

Ойындар

The history of Professional wrestling video games is a rich one, filled with all kinds of hidden gems across every gaming console available. But where did it all begin? What came first and what's worth remembering out of the hundreds on offer?
The History of professional wrestling’s goal is to take a look into the evolution of prowrestling video games, looking back at where it started and trying to see where this journey takes us.
Over the next few hours, or however long this takes, I'm going to try my best to look over the history of professional wrestling video games, and really figure out where it all went wrong. I mean, these titles were good at some point, right? Weither you're a No Mercy lifer, a SmackDown vs Raw 2008 Defender, or a Here comes the Pain Fanatic, I hope that you enjoy my look into the history of wrestling games. Starting all the way back in 1982.
In this part we take a look at The Big Pro Wrestling, Techno's wrestling titles including Mat Mania, Mania Challenge Sequel. M.U.S.C.L.E, Pro Wrestling for the Sega MAster System, Nintendo's Pro Wrestling, WWF SuperStars, WrestleMania Challenge, WrestleFest, Fire Pro, Kinnikuman, WWF Royal Rumble (1993), WCW Wrestling, SuperBrawl, Saturday Night Slam Masters, WWF Raw, Fire Pro Joshi titles and MORE!
Please note that this title focuses on the games listed by the SmackDown Hotel, found here:
www.thesmackdownhotel.com/games/
Though I tried my hardest, I found it best to pick and chose from certain games and therefore certain titles may have been missed. Please let me know in the comments any of your favourites that should have been included!
Shoutout to @OSW for their input, feedback and a couple of art assets (the boy stable!).

Due to some people having issue with the background music of this video, I've decided to re-render with a completely lowered backgrond music throughout. I'd love for this series to be seen by everyone, so am happy to provide a edit like this to help have people enjoy the content the way they would like to. Here's the link! Cheers: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iYytm5Whp6TTdc4.html

Also, please note that I won't be editing that link any further. So any copyright claims in that one will just stay and won't be disputed. meaning that it's original longtime is a full 50 seconds longer than this one! (due to WWE claiming certain clips.) Cheers.

The worst offense by Rage in the Cage is that Sculptured Software had a CD format to use and didn't get the real entrance songs from the WWF. They just used recordings of their own chiptune versions played from a SNES.

Back in the day, 80's and early 90s it was pretty common to rent games. games were insanely expensive almost the same as they are today. so spending 1.99-5.99 on a game for 2-3 nights was a no brainer. Thankfully some games lead themselves to this. a bad game wasn't so bad because u only played it for 3-6 hours at most it didn't have to be that Xmas present or birthday gift which would likely be where u get the majority of the games u got during the year. WWF WrestleMania was defiantly one of those renting games. Was fun for a short time. But completely unbalanced at least for 10 year old me. Anyhow I guess the algorithm brought me here. Love OSW, subbed. good luck!

Cheers mate! Good to have you along for the ride! And I do miss Choiceis and Blockbuster (then love film later on!) for renting games that weren't *worth* owning for a longer period of time.

Growing up with most of these games I remember when Wrestlemania came out for NES how cool we thought it was for the real characters but how boring and awful the controls were. When WCW came out for NES my local video store was difficult to rent it from as it was a very popular rental. We all went crazy for the amazing new concepts such as picking your moves before each match. Plus it’s the only video game to ever feature Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert. Royal Rumble and Super Wrestlemania were different for each console which led to many SNES vs Genesis wars amongst kids as to which system had the better versions. Superbrawl had an amazing select a wrestler screen and nothing else was playable in that game lol. WCW vs the World was my first PS1 game and was so cool to play at the time until of course we got WCW/NWO world tour for N64.

WCW wrestling was my first pro wrestling game and i still love it. Super Star Pro wrestling (the game they updated their wrestlers on) was released in 1989 not 84

I believe you’re right! Though for some reason my primary source reads: Super Star Pro Wrestling is a 1989 Japanese professional wrestling for the famicon. Released December 9, 1989. I think that’s just the home release that I covered. Where as the 1984 title seems to be a card game of sorts? Thank you for the correction though!
