The Hidden Green Space On Aigburth Road Liverpool & The Mysterious Mill Gear Cog Wheel Inside It
this place has intrigued me for many years and as far back as i remember this cog has been here for over 30 years maybe more?
possibly from a flour mill this a mate tells me
does anyone have any info on this when it was put there or where it was from...
seems a bit of a random place to put something unless its connected to the ares
also the flats I'm told used to be sailor homes....is there and info or truth in that
please drop a comment below
if you like this video or any other video you can show your appreciation by buying me a coffee ill post the link below
all money goes back into the running of the channel....and hot drinks of course...cheers

Th flats were Army family housing, the land behind was part of the Army barracks and extended all the way to the rugby field, (now another housing estate) by the railway In the early 70's I used to play on that wasteland, a rough area with a concrete bunker, again, now known as fulwwod village estate.
Hiya, mate! That's crest is the Royal Artillery. Might have something to do with the barracks next door

@@g2emedia1977 Hi George, another cracker mate. That is in fact The Crest of The Kings Troop Royal Artillery. I remember The Barracks being part of That Regiment as a kid. We used to see Army trucks with Big Howitzers being towed behind them at the time. We used to venture up there from time to time during the school holidays, I seem to remember a Pear Tree at the back of there, I think that was the sole reason for going lol, but I don`t remember the big Wheel, strangely enough. It looks like it has been part of some type of Grinding mill of sorts, it`s certainly interesting. Cheers mate.

Hi mate, just been doing a bit of digging online and trying to join the dots. Just a stones throw away, was a cast iron foundry, on Tramway Road! Which made various industrial parts in the 19th century. Maybe its some left over machine element, which being too heavy to move, was just abandoned. Also, on a slightly different note...How many people know that st Charles Church Aigburth in the background, was the place of George Formby's funeral in March 1961. Great video George "turned out nice again ".

I lived in Kings Close in the late 70's and never knew this was here, right behind the close. It was my first house bought brand new from Unit Construction from Speke for £10450.00. I knew a neighbour from Battery Close and his house was MOD property.

I remember this wheel from when I was a kid and lived in 75 Fulwood Drive in the late 70's (when the house/estate was new) to around 1983. My dad was actually the site manager working for Unit when the original part of the estate was built. Our house used to be situated in a dead end, the second estate later being built on the big field where our house overlooked - if you looked out of the landing window.
Love your videos dude! I lived in the top flat opposite the barracks for about 6 months in the late 90's...obviously could see that space from the back of the flat, but just remember it being VERY overgrown and no access like the gates in your video.

It's part of an anti aircraft gun,
Another thought, looking at the smaller hub looking parts it could be something for a water wheel maybe? They looks like they could contain some hefty wooden spokes.

That particular area on Aigburth Rd was I think a depot for the Royal Artilary Regiment & was used by theTerritorial Army where you could enlist ..also used by The Territorial Army Voluntary Reservists Training Centre.
Hi, i lived in the first block Givenchy Court a number of years ago, have walked through that Little area many years ago, never found out where the big wheel was from, had lots of trouble with anti social behavior, so the council put the railings and Gates up, this put a stop to alot of it, it's used by local People walking dogs, and some of them were responsible for the locking and opening of the Gates, the 3 blocks of flats were originally homes for soldiers from the TA barracks, would really love to find out more about the big cast iron wheel though, trip down memory lane that
