A Secret Historic Footpath In Liverpool Which Takes You Through People's Gardens

wow what an odd explore this one was all thanks to my good pal Mr john wild AKA ‪@LiverpoolTours2023‬
this is truly a hidden gem and I'm told most people don't even know its there
apparently the houses are supposed to grant you access through although there are no signs for it being a footpath.....confusing?
this footpath has remained in place since the early 1900s give or take a few developments when this area was all but fields
here is the link to buy me a coffee
buymeacoffee.com/g2emediag
all money goes back into the channel and of course on hot drinks...cheers

That path isn't shown on the current OS map. There is a campaign to have lost paths put back on the map or they will be lost. It may be worth contacting the footpaths society or Ramblers group, or it may be a permissive path. Looking forward to the next video.

Lived in Woolton all my life and born in the next road to where you were filming so a couple of interesting facts The big house is the old Newborouogh Montessori Prep School which only closed about 20 years ago Dirk Kuyt (ex LFC Player) had it converted into a house and to my knowledge it still is a house The “gardens” you refer to are in fact the front of the town houses but because of vehicle access most people who live there use the backs where the garages are

@@g2emedia1977 Yeah, Pretty sure the Residents aren't allowed to fence of the front garden like that - in which case it would just be like any other off road house, with a path in front, and why they have to let people walk through. It isn't actually a private garden, and never was when I was a kid

Hi George. As somebody mentioned in the comments, you definitely needed a key for the door you walked through on Quarry St. The reason i know that is,at 5:55, No.1 Rockmount Park is were my Nan lived from the seventies till the mid nineties My Dad spent his early twenties there, and my Grandad passed away in the house I haven't been there for well over thirty years, and that door by the house was never there,so obviously fairly new That house had the creepiest staircase i've ever seen..It was all enclosed, and when we were kids,me and my brother had to go upstairs, taking it in turns to use the toilet, because we were convinced somebody was always looking down on us The upstairs was freezing, but the view from my Nan's bedroom was spectacular..In the summer, you could see North Wales What was also strange about that house is,as you went past the house, that was actually the front door, the back door being up some steps, were your mate is standing at 6:10...My brother and i always used to chuck the pebble dash off the garage roof at the light..haha At 6:10,if you had walked straight ahead, right to the end, there are steps leading down to Vale road..

I lived till 18 on that stretch of Vale Rd. You could get to the top footpath gate at the Quarry St end in the 70s and 80s but it was locked. You had to climb over. Residents keys only. No1 have pisstaken the path as garden now. I remember the bulldozer smashing the sandstone wall down to start the building of Rockmount 1969? Field before. The ongoing path through to Menlove was overrun by the sheltered accommodation on the 90's when Links view flats were demolished. This was Lennon's childhood patch.

No. The back garden has been encroaching on public land. This is all well and good, but beggars can't be choosers. They could put up fences in their own boundaries but choose to flaunt their gardens instead. It's all in the deeds.

George surely (when you went in reverse uphill and opened the backyard gate? wouldn't the logical path be that other door/gate facing you as the paving stones led to it? as then you did a right then left back onto the path (skirting the back garden)?? wouldn't fancy living there, if all and sundry could walk thru your back garden anytime of day + night...or could the path have been a "TOLL ROAD" short cut?

This would appear on the local authority's Definitive Map. Most of these are now online. We have a local path that goes over somebody's backyard and eventually through a field very, very close to a house. The current owners of the latter hate locals using the path. They put gates and cameras and will appear as if by magic if they think you are transgressing. Shame they didn't put as much effort into researching the house's ground before purchase. I have never know them to be shown to be right over any dispute.

Happy Birthday fella. Nah mate, that just doesn't feel right. Where that black door in the wall was, make a fence to that, across the back wall to the alley you came through, and then at least No.1 would have their own bit boxed off but other than that, that house spent a lot of money on fancy patio door for a public fish tank. Bizarre. Top video that Man. PS. I'd of been sh***ing it going through there. Lolz.
