Whitesnake is David Coverdales band after Deep Purple broke up in 1976. He was joined by Ian Pace on drums and John Lord on keyboard from Deep Purple, Neil Murray on bass and Mickey Moody and Bernie Marsden on guitars. That was the first official live setting of Whitesnake that played a very blues based hard rock. This is the 1987 setting with a bit more on the early metal/hard rock style. The model Tawny Kitaen from the video, ended up marrying David Coverdale. They were married between 1989 and 1991. She died at her home in 2021 of a heart disease.

@@billc.5861 …I think this album was mostly Sykes baby…lyrics and music. But Coverdale, somehow, dicked over Sykes, and replaced him with Vandenberg and Campbell for the tour and the videos. My recollection is vague, it was 35 years ago. But Sykes was a great talent, a great player and a good voice. I prefer the Blue Muder albums to any of the WhiteSnake albums with Van den Berg, Campbell or Vai . WS never had a better than the Sykes album…in my opinion…..all great players, but the Sykes album was their masterpiece, and the Sykes influence was sorely missed on their other albums…in my opinion.✌️🎸

After Whitesnake he went on to form the band Blue Murder and really further showed his talent as both guitarist and vocalist and he pushed his epic song writing skills to the max, their self titled debut album is still one of my all time favorite albums… Their second album Nothin’ but Trouble had a bit of a different feel in some of their songs, but still a really really great album…

John Sykes was first part of the group Tygers of Pan Tang in the very early 80's (British Metal) and then spent time with Thin Lizzy from which came their heaviest album "Thunder and Lightening". Sykes also played the guitar with a bow in the solo, a la Jimmy Page. Check out the song Slow 'an Easy off Whitesnake's "Slide It In" album. More of a blues rock song. I'd say it is more 80s hard rock/metal-ish, but since it was one of their heavier songs I can see where there's some thrash metal elements or riffs that can pass for that style. The lead singer David Coverdale was around since the 70s and had a brief stint in legendary 70s hard rock band Deep Purple. He formed Whitesnake as a bluesy rock band in the late 70s and then transitioned their sound to this cross between adult contemporary pop and hard rock which is what their signature sound is for the most part IMO. And yes, as others already mentioned, the model in the video was his girlfriend (possibly wife for a while) back then. She was in several more of their videos. Check out "Here i Go Again" and "Is This Love" if you haven't already.

David Coverdale, in my opinion, was one of the best frontmen ever. He had a way of working the stage and the audience. They originally started as more blues/rock in Europe and Japan in the late 70's and early 80's. They got pretty big over there but Coverdale had a habit of rotating out the other members of the band. Some from artistic disagreements, others from legal reasons. I think it gave Coverdale a new set of creative players to work with and kept his music fresh. Songs you need to listen to: Here I go again Is This Love Slide It In Slow and Easy Deeper The Love Fool for Your Loving

There was a kid that actually did this cover on American Idol, believe it or not? He nailed it too. I think his name was Caleb Johnson. He was a unique character for American Idol. He did Zeppelin, Dazed And Confused, he even did a Rush song, Working Man, that had to be a first for Idol, someone doing Rush. I think he won that season.

This was such a good time to be growing up and listening to the rock music of this time. Women could be sexy and men could be masculine, and life was exciting, less prohibitive and we were allowed to have fun. I wish that our later generations could experience that freedom.

With long time members leaving, David carried the name Whitesnake with him and built this 'supergroup'. I saw this tour and enjoyed seeing veteran musicians from other groups all together with David completely owning this album. David also has comedic chops as he grabbed a drink and stepped up to the microphone while the rest of the band took a small break halfway through the show. He proceeded to tell a few dirty jokes which had the guys laughing and the ladies giggling. I got my money's worth.

Just to add, David Coverdale, the vocalist, was married to Tawny Kitaen '89-'91.. She was in a few of their most popular hits. One of my favs didn't get near the airplay as their bigger hits, "Kittens got Claws". May want to check it out sometime.

My all time favourite song, it has been on my journey of life since 1987. Love the groove, blink in the eye-attitude, cockiness, the solo that builds up, just everything. I think David Coverdale is one of the most takented frontmen of alltime.

Whitesnake was around since the 70's. They were a blues/rock band mostly. Their newer albums from like 2005 forward are all really good! They got back to their blues rock roots and the band(s) Coverdale assembled, and re-assembled, were all amazing musicians!

One of my favorite guitar players is Vivian Campbell. He was in Whitesnake for a few years and in this video. He was also Dio's lead guitarist on his first 2 albums. In 1992 he joined Def Leppard after Steve Clark died and been with them since. Whitesnake.... Slow and Easy Here I Go Again Slide It In Love Ain't No Stranger Fool for Your Loving Crying In the Rain

My hometown boy Mike Devin played bass for Whitesnake for 10 years (2010-2020). Coverdale is a sweet, classy gentleman with pipes of gold (though getting rusty as he ages). A good example of a song that shows his matured voice is Forevermore from 2013. Great heavy ballad

great reaction guys... still one of my favorite guitar rifts ever especially the way he plays it with a bow for that solo. coverdale also has one of those rare voices that can stay somewhat deep even on the high notes. recommend "here i go again" and "is it love" from same album and yes you get more tawny... enjoy! 😎

My favorite Whitesnake lineup was the group that Coverdale put together after Deep Purple split and were together from 1978 - 1984. David was always a good songwriter but when David ask Bernie Marsden to join the band as a second guitar, little did he know that the best song writing duo since Lennon and McCartney, okay maybe I’m getting a little carried away. 😂 David and Bernie wrote many of Whitesnake’s biggest hits and they were released on the early Heavy Blues Based lineup’s albums. They will always be my favorite. “Here I Go Again”, “Walking In the Shadow of the Blues”, “Fool For Your Loving”, and more. Many of these early Whitesnake songs were re-recorded by the 1987 and on Hairband lineup and were huge successes. There’s one song “Steal Away” on their 1978 Snakebite album that I couldn’t believe when I first heard, IT POLKAS OUT IN THE MIDDLE! It’s a Whitesnake Polka! 😂 The entire band shares credits on that song. There is a song on their 1980 Ready An’ Willing album, “Blindman”, that David wrote himself that will always be one of my favorite songs. It is one of the prettiest songs both musically and lyrically that you will ever hear. “Blindman” kzread.info/dash/bejne/onqTydyaY8iaado.htmlsi=vwrhZDXdJ83aazus

@stevenewcomer8837... thanks for dropping the link in for BLIND MAN. Simply sublime. Regretfully, I never was so interested in the band that I went into their prior works. LOVE Still Of The Night... but missed a lot of the "Hair Band" era while serving overseas. But am living leisurely and searching back catalogs for this kind of diamond. Thanks again🤘🤘
