Bonnie on drums is so solid! But to see a young chick on bass who gets repeatedly asked to be the ‘house bass’ at EC’s Crossroads Festivals, and to play with Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Buddy Guy--c’mon, who else. She’s taken a page out of Jeff Beck’s rule book: stay humble, play your best, never stop learning, and don’t outplay the other musicians just because you can! I saw Buddy Guy play with Jeff Beck maybe 10 years ago, and those two were the only two in the room. Just having such a blast, lick for lick, note for note. They even did a little, “…well, then, can you play THIS?” and after a blazing riff from Buddy, Jeff throws up his hands like “I give up, you the man!” Buddy Guy just shook his head, and said into the mic, “Jeff is being humble y’all. He can outplay everyone!” And they both just laughed-genuine. I’m reminded of Reggie Wooten, the eldest of the Wooten brothers who taught all his younger brothers how to play. He’s certainly not “the best”, but man! What he managed to impart to Victor and Future Man is gold. And when you see them play together, it is so tight! Each doing their best to make the others stand out. Love seeing that. Buddy Guy is still amazing, and does a blistering take on Hendrix in his encores at live shows. Caught him last summer (‘22) and he floored the young people there. Jaws dropped, eyes popped, ears forever changed. Rock on Buddy. Jeff, no one can touch you! Rest easy whammy sensei!

What some of you may not know is that when Billy was in the Moving Sidewalks he was opening for Jimi. After the shows he and Jimi would listen to records in Jimi's hotel room. Billy said one night they were listening to a JB album and Jimi said how the hell does he play that? Billy said, He probably listens to your albums and says the same thing.
@JAP42

@davidratcliffe1: _what a rare treat_ -- a *_true_* story that sounds too good to be true! I've heard Billy tell it in 2 different interviews. Also heard him tell how JB hooked them up w/ the first 110v 100w Marshalls ever in the US. Look for that story: it's great. JB & Billy have been friends for _years_ -- since 1968, if memory serves. They were 2 of the very few guitarists who weren't intimidated by Jimi -- both played & jamaed with him. So hearing them cover Foxy Lady together is beyond cool. Yeah, Tal & Vinnie are phenomenal, but you've got two living legends who actually knew Jimi honoring him here.

Jimi played a tribute to beck just before he died , Jeff was a humble guy , as I'm finding out , he was more humble than I thought , through people's stories beck and Hendrix and Clapton and page buddy guy , when asked about best guitarist Jeff at different times avoids the answete and he like Clapton was smart and would say buddy guy the others I listed including guy all said always one name.....Beck .......musicians almost always say Beck it is a misnomer that Hendrix is considered best because at the time in the 60s the afficiendos all thought BG was the best untill somewhere in the late 70s Beck matured fulfilling j.h s prophecy that Beck would be the best .

The thing I love about Buddy's sound is this : no effects, not even a boost - unless he is using a built in preamp on the guitar, but I doubt it. Saw Buddy Guy at the Rock Pile in Toronto, probably 1969. He had a guitar cord so long he made it all the way to the back of the hall and up the mezzanine stairs and part way back towards the front. Amazing thing was, through out the whole gong show of spotlights and sound techs wrangling the cord and keeping it under connected to his guitar, Buddy was playing away without missing a beat. I saw him do it again later that summer under a stage in the trusses. Crazy how good he was/is.

Fall 1969 I saw Buddy Guy and Junior Wells together at the Brown Derby on Yonge Street in Toronto. Less than 10 in the bar for this first set of the night. They played in a 4’ raised stage and, at one point Buddy holds the butt of his guitar up between one of the fake beams and the ceiling and blew us all away playing wicked riffs with one hand, all while Junior wailed away on the harp. They toured together back then !!!

I saw Buddy and Junior at The Colonial in Toronto in 1977. Band included his brother Phil Guy on guitar and Kenny Neal on bass. In an interview with Billy G when he also mentioned sitting on the floor, listening to records- Moving Sidewalks were opening for Jimi the first time and didn't have enough of their own songs for a 45 minute set, so they decided to add two covers by Hendrix. At some point during one of the last two songs, Gibbons looked at the back of the hall and saw Hendrix standing in the doorway with his arms crossed, shaking his head. After the gig, Hendrix told Gibbons "I want to jam with you, man" and Hendrix made sure that Gibbons' room was next to his for the rest of the tour, so they could hang out.

Jeff and Buddy live are the greatest..now. Jeff is jamming with SRV..AGAIN.
RIP Jeff Beck Jan 10 2023
What some of you may not know is that when Billy was in the Moving Sidewalks he was opening for Jimi. After the shows he and Jimi would listen to records in Jimi's hotel room. Billy said one night they were listening to a JB album and Jimi said how the hell does he play that? Billy said, He probably listens to your albums and says the same thing.

I love Tal ! She kills on everything I've heard!!

Wow! Hands down, 3 of my FAVOURITES right there. But let’s give some love to the band as well. That Lady CAN play a bass.
To be so young, Tal, and to play w such icons of music? What more can be said.
There used to be a concert venue called Chene Park on the Detroit River. Blues fest every summer, I saw B.B.King 3 times, Buddy Guy twice, Lonnie Brooks once, Koko Taylor, Eric Johnson, Kokomo Montoya...an amazing place. It's a joke now
It is still Jeff Beck that "owns" the show, with humility, friendship and creativity. God rest the soul of Jimi Hendrix, my idol, but Becky is still here making everything he does seem brand new. Even Jimmy Page cedes to Jeff Beck when they're on stage together.........And Billy Gibbons, wow.....

Jeff inspired Jimi as much as Buddy Guy did when he was in the Yardbirds but would never dare even think that. What a fucking legend...!!!
The thing I love about Buddy's sound is this : no effects, not even a boost - unless he is using a built in preamp on the guitar, but I doubt it. You can hear the guitar wood, the raw and unfetterred single coil pickups, a heavily cranked fender bassman amp and most of all, Buddy's SOUL dripping through every note and nuance played .

Amazing rhythm section with 3 guitar greats. Love Tal bass playing, she's amazing. 😍👍👍👍

The band was hot but Buddy really laid back and let his brother take a lot of solos. There's a clip on KZread of Messin'with the Kid from that gig where Phil takes both solos.
Billy just adds so much style. He was perfect for foxy lady song mixed with Jeff's whammy bar style playing fits so well together.
Thank you Jeff for everything you gave us your a legend that can't be replaced your Guitar legacy is who you play with and you played with greatest this video is just a taste R.I.P our friend .😢😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 im so sad right now .
R.I.P. Jeff , you really were one of the guitar gods. Buddy ,meanwhile just came out with another fantastic album in 22 and Billy came out with an album in 21 which was also very good.!!
These are timeless tunes. Do they write songs like that today? Today it's just covers of these tunes. Kings of the Git Box.
Seeing Billy & Jeff together is really special...and knock-me-out...COOL!
Yeah baby! Love it!💖💖💖. What a jam!🎸🎸🎸
RIP Mr. Jeff Beck 🎸🙏
i listen a lot of different music, blues has always been my favorite
It doesn't get any better
Beck is so humble-he is best friends with Billy- Gibbons is no slouch on guitar but at any given time Beck could of wiped him out-I met Beck and he is so humble for who he is he will never try to outshine anyone even though he could

They've been friends since Billy's band Moving Sidewalks toured with & opened for a moderately talented guitarist named Hendrix. Yeah, that Hendrix. So these are two guys who knew & played with the Voodoo Chile himself. Look for some of Billy's stories about those days. They're a lot of fun.
Awfully refreshing to see someone playing a FOUR string bass, and just keeping it in the pocket, instead of playing a solo all night!
Jeff playing with the Leslie on and Tal dropping that sweet bass line took me back to the Hoodoo Man Blue record. Damn that was some sweet blues. Love me some Buddy Guy. Billy is no slouch either. Got to see the Top in their yellow jump suits in the 80's.
They are the guitar gods,, RIP Jeff, I miss you so much. Outstanding performance 🎸🎸🎸
Vinnie Colaiuta on drums, Jason Rebello on keys.
The two masters together ❤. Buddy Guy outlived Jeff, what a surprise. So fantastic, beautiful. 🕉
When you (together with the fantastic line-up on Rough & Ready) can come up with a song like 'Jody', you're immortal to me. Thank God a memory will live for ever more.
