Clickbait title. I had the pleasure of working with Paul Eddington on "Forty Years on" at the Queen's theatre in 1984, and with Felicity 2 years earlier at the Strand. Lovely memories, but don't tell me people are dead when they aren't. Im not that old. Yet.

A fact you most probably didn't know is that Richard Briers starred in a 60's sitcom called Marriage Lines alongside Prunella Scales. Briers also was the narrator for the 70's animation series Roobarb.

What an interesting comment. Margot, to me, represented suburban snobbery, always yearning to be superior. Jerry, all for a quiet life, saw through her, but let her do her thing. The Goods portray healthy non-conformism, striving to counter the takeover of their world by consumerist excesses.

I don't see why the deaths are labelled "utterly tragic". People die. It's a grim fact of life. They weren't exactly young and neither were their deaths in any way extraordinary. (An excellent series, btw).

  • @eddiepattisonhogg9917

most deaths are tragic because many who die are without the saving work of Jesus Christ in their lives. Those people have contemptuously ignored his words and set Him at nought. More tragical, there are those who believe they have a saving faith in Christ but do not and never have, displayed the fruits of a true saving faith. And even more tragic than everything, there are Churches who direct people not onto the path of righteousness, but onto the road that leads to destruction and eternal ruin. Jesus said to the religious leaders of his day, ' you are of your father the Devil, and the works of your father you will do'

On the other hand, the Bible is quite adamant that there are none who are good, you could make out an argument for universal goodness using a human standard of goodness or righteousness but according to Christian teaching, this standard does not give you a right to dwell with God one day. In Roman's chapter 4: verses 9 - 20, the New Testament standard of righteousness is clearly laid out. There is none righteous, no not one. Thats why we make! or used to make such a big deal about Christmas; it was to remember that God has made provision for our plight in giving his son to die on the cross in our place; 'In my place condemned he stood, sealed my pardon with his blood'. we used to sing; so that we might live. But this is not universally given to everyone, but to those only who repent of their sins and disobedience and submit to God's provision for their salvation.@@jamesfitzpatrick9869
