You think Renarin is in trouble now, wait until he volunteers to be odiums champion.

Oof, now that’s a terrifying prospect. I mean who, among the Alethi, wouldn’t volunteer to die to free their home from invaders? But I hope he’ll be too busy on the hunt for Ba-Ado-Mishram.

@@MeMySkirtandI Oh, no. that's not how I meant it. For Dalinar to lose odiums champion must be someone he can’t (bring himself to) kill. I think Renarin will see (or be tricked into believing he saw) a Future were they win in the long term by Daninar becoming Odiums general. I have to admit I desperately want to see both the “Dalinar as Odiums champion bound by his own honour/oath” and the “Renarin the betrayer, hated for doing the right thing but can’t tell anyone why he did what he did or it would not work” storyline.

I agree that if Renarin is Odium’s champion, it would be by trickery. The trick I think would be Todium rolling up to someone Dalinar wouldn’t kill and saying “hey kid, want to die for your country?” Like Amaram did in book 1.

@@MeMySkirtandI Yeah I think he will do it of his own free will but he will doubt his own action, doubt whether he had been tricked or not, if his vision was true. If his long con will pay off. And I expect the pay off late in the second half, maybe storm light 8 or 9. Maybe Sanderson will leave the question why he volunteered/betrayed his people open, the same way the question why gavilar was killed.

This is kind of horrifying to think about! Imagine if he did a Doctor Strange in Endgame and out of all of the futures he see's, the only one that doesn't end in complete calamity is becoming Odium's champion and forcing Dalinar to lose and become fused. My poor boy

after watching this i’m definitely leaning towards not renarin now. have we even seen renarin interacting much with sja-anat? I can’t remember any instances of a conversation between the two. something that i’m a little unsure of, is why would the ghostbloods have preferred tarivangian to hold the shard of odium? surely thaidakar knows that a shard’s intent overpowers most of the vessel? it’s been a long time since i’ve read mistborn era 2 but kelsier has definitely interacted with harmony right? and the ghostbloods know that tarivangian would be more intelligent and dangerous than rayse? maybe it’s a “plans within plans” kind of situation, and the ghostbloods *want* odium to win and break out of the rosharan system?? idk just throwing ideas out now. something just doesn’t quite add up to me.

Thanks for the comment! For me, I’m not sure how open Sja-Anat would have been. Or if Mraize was just trying to impress his boss.

Just finished The Lost Metsl today, one of the last scenes is Kelsier and Sazed talking, as well as confirmation that they do so.. 'often' is the sense I got. But often by the scale of several century old immortals. Personally I think that Mraize just wants to get a spren and cultivate a relationship with Saj-Anat. Possibly as an avenue to get more spren for the Ghostbloods. Though admittedly the closing chapter from Twinborn's perspective made it seem that the main Ghostbloods aren't fond of how their Roshar operation has been going. There's also the angle that they just don't know the result. Saj-Anat could have just not told them why she wanted that done. I'm certain they don't want Odium loose. The groups main goal is the preservation of Scadrial after all. There's no way Odium leaves two shards in the hands of a single vessel. What happens when Sazed figures out that his shard don't have to be antagonistic and could be aligned to a cycle, or some other way of directing both shards to the same purpose? If Odium gets free he's probably going to make a straight line for Scadrial. Which is exactly against the Ghostbloods primary objective.

@@IamHattman I totally agree that Twinsoul isn't thrilled with Mraize and his babsk's goings on on Roshar. Though since its Trell and not Odium attacking Scadrial in Era 2, it seems that somehow between the Ghostbloods and the Radiants, Odium is still stuck.
