one thing I Like that no one seams to be talking about is how Wolf won her final fight. She beat Greta not with brute force, superior strategy, being a better fighter. She won by befriending Greta, which is such a Kipo move.

@Rad Raspberry Razmin Fox this is exactly why Stevan Universe’s ending absolutely blew. You can’t redeem a character in 1 episode. The worst part is the Stevan Universe was incredible right until the finale where the writers got amnesia and forgot how to write.

+Roy MTB - Same! I know some people were upset that those dead (well, mentally dead, they lost their sentience) characters weren't magically brought back. I think if the cure was just undone it'd kind of erase any *consequences* that should've been there. The impact of those deaths would've been totally void had they just reversed it.

I still have a headcanon that Song figures out the cure for the cure sometime in the future regardless, though I understand whey they left that open ended.

The way I interpret Emilia's past is that she had a choice. She and Liam went through a similar upbringing, with their emotionaly abusive father. But Liam gave mutes a chance and ended up changing their minds as well. She could have chosen the same, but instead remained in darkness, which ended up being her downfall.

(actually, his death was the only thing that kind of bummed me. It felt a bit like an easy way out because, while his redemption arc was complete, he still deserved to be locked in a cage for his past actions.)

@@slevinchannel7589 I think it's because the show was cancelled though. Like of course sections were pretty rushed, but at the same time they did the best they could to conclude the story within 10 episodes without it feeling unnatural.

I love that the 1st time Scarlemagne tried to apologize it was rejected by the other mutes. While he was sincere and had put in some effort, it seemed like he was still mostly thinking about himself, I don’t feel like he completely understood why he needed to apologize. By the time he apologizes the second time he’s had time to actually get to know and create real bonds with other characters. This time, he was for the most part(not completely) already trusted by the other mutes, and no one was prompting him to apologize. Scarlemagne chose to apologize all on his own, and that fact alone makes it feel more genuine. The second time Scarlemagne apologizes he’s had time to really understand what he did wrong and he’s had the chance to see someone(Emilia) doing something similar to what he did but from the perspective of the people being hurt. I think when Scarlemagne apologizes the second time you can really see that he truly means it, and unlike the first time there was no doubt that he’s changed. Honestly by the time the show finished, Hugo had become one of my favorite characters. Also I love that it was Scarlemagne’s apology the ultimately convinced that guy to admit what he did to the fireworks.

This show seriously deserves so much more attention. I’m happy that the ending stuck, and feels completed enough to where it could easily be expanded on in a movie/possible spin off, but at the same time, it doesn’t desperately need it, ya know? It makes recommending this show so much easier, then compared to recommending hidden gems that were cancelled/ended on a cliffhanger. This show is easily one of my favorites of 2020, and I’m so glad it was allowed to be completed on its own terms.

Agreed, I wouldnt want a new season that "continues" the story; but I would love a spin-off that expands on the ending. (even Avatar got a comic, that expanded upon the still existing problems between the nations).

Yo raise your axes for yumyan him getting cured caught me off guard but at least he went out heroically and has definitely earned his carving amongst the other axe lord carvings.

When a read in a wiki article that Dr. Emilia killed her own brother, I just assumed she pushed him off a cliff or something. But then I watched the episode and she shot him at point blank! The show's creators gave us "Sympathy for the Mandrill" to make us feel sorry for Scarlemagne and understand him better, and then gave us that nugget of Emilia's backstory so we would stop feeling sorry for her. This shows us how different these two villains really are. Scarlemagne was angry and vengeful, while Dr. Emilia was heartless and cruel. 😠😒

@@rackardukes3653 Of course not. There was never any good reason to like here. I'm just explaining how the creators set up Emilia to be the bigger villain. Someone who couldn't accept she was in the wrong and was willing to cross any line to achieve her goals. And when you think about it, Emilia's reason for hating mutes is pretty stupid. It's nothing personal, it's just her father's own ideals drilled into her brain at a young age and the need to succeed where countless generations have failed. This was a great way to show how racism works in the real world and affects social development.

Emilias defeat becomes all the more poetic when you realise it's Fun Gus who she ends up with; All we know about Fun Gus backstory is that he's a fungus mute in Emilias original burrow. In that burrow, the formula that transformed Hugo into a sentient mute was concocted. Its not much of a stretch to assume Fun Gus was just some fungus growing on Emilias own old experements in that lab. Fun Gus lonely existence is her fault, and now she's going to have to pay for it. At least the guy finally has a friend.

I think my favourite thing was that they gave Emilia some humanity by her growing up with an abusive father- but they still dont redeem her because at the end of the day she chose the path she went down. I know you brought that up but its my favourite thing just due to how realistic and grounded it is.

Easter egg from season 1 in season 3: When Kipo is trying on clothes to wear on the Surface, she tries on a rainbow dress that appears again in season 3, when Wolf is looking for clothes to wear to prom. That means that Wolf went to the same store that Kipo did without realizing it.

As sad as I was that Scarlemagne died, after thinking about it I realized that it's a callback to season 2. In season 2 Kipo sacrifices her humanity to save a "coliseum full of mutes", which Scarlemagne remarks on. In season 3, Scarlemagne sacrifices his own life to save his human sister Kipo. He couldn't understand why she would do what she did in season 2 until he does it himself because he loves her as a friend and as family. He also becomes an example that anyone can change and becomes the symbol of the new world (a parallel to how he wanted to reform Las Vistas into a mute-safe paradise). I think it's very fitting. It's also very fitting that Emilia doesn't get to rest easy in death but is instead stuck with Fun Gus for eternity to be faced directly with her actions. A mute-hater stuck with a mute.

How does Emilia eat. Will Fun Gus feed her? Or will she starve to death? Leaving her with Fun Gus was probably worse than killing her.

I also love how Emilia is not a big bad, but a downright dick. She is not the fire lord, she is Azula. She is not Voldemort, she is Unbridge. Those characters actually hurt charachters we love, and not in a backstory-ish way, but in a real time one. She killed her brother, but she also "cured" yumyan or camille or other characters we were attached to. She hurt Hugo, she kept Song away from Kipo for thirteen years! She has done so much bad for no really good reason, we absolutely, 100% KNOW she's heartless

@@seandabest4329 Remember that burrow been destroy when kipo mom turn into the mega monkey. Plus it seems that burrow was the most of the science one, so they need to start everything by scratch.And who knows what they had when they started. It been 13/14 years so most ingredients will spoil or not be around anymore when kipo went to the science burrow. And it been taken over by gus so that a no go. I'm thinking everything they learnt was in the journal as well. And by the time hugo spoke, they both look tired and hopeless like they been at it for a long time. So they been trying a ton of formulas before he spoke. And there no more normal animals left to safely try the formulas out on as i remember emila saying hugo was the last one left. They don't know if it going to kill them or mess them up some other way.

I mean my main issue with the curing is that no-one brought it up again, not even all the humans who SAW Wolf's siblings get cured. Plus Kipo clearly didn't care about cured mutes enough to go save any outside of the city. 5 years later and we only see like 2 cured mutes in the city.

There is one plot hole that confused me. Hugo was NOT always a mute. In fact he started out as a normal Mandril. Kipo's mother and father used something that turned him into a mute. Couldn't they continued to try and figure out that same formula to turn mutes like Yumyan back into their original form?

Another thing that bugged me, was that Emilia took something (not sure what, just that is represents DNA) from a walrus in order to make a “cure” that would effect Kipo as well as everyone else. However, when the fireworks go off at the end, Kipo covers the other mutes, but doesn’t turn back to human herself? Did Emilia not get that version ready in time to sabotage the fireworks, or was it just forgotten about?

My theory is that you can change an animal into a mute and they will have a personality and a mind but now that the characters have been changed back, re-muting them won't bring back who they were, they might be able to be people again but they'll be someone else with no memory.

@@mimikyulover3411 I know, but heroic deads for the redeemed villains are so cliche, imagine if on the epilogue, we end up learning that Hugo has been the one telling the story of Kipo to young mutes, teaching that her way is better, he is living proof of it, as for the karmatic punishment, we learn that he can't play the piano as he used to, for his character that is a fitting punishment in exchange of redemption. But it was last season sooo... redemption = dead, with statue in this case. XD

I think the social issues, anxiety, and sensory overload that come with autism are all things anyone would want to cure. It’s not a fun life a lot of times. That doesn’t mean that they aren’t wonderful people

I was gonna say this in live chat but I couldn't find the words at the time. I love Amelia's character. The fact she was basically radicalized and pushed by her father to be the best- to be the one to end the mutes she kept that with her and would do literally anything, even if it hurt those closest to her, to prove to her father that she could indeed do this and any other option isn't good enough. The show makes it so apparent and I'm pretty sure actually points out the fact she literally can't handle being wrong, but it's just. So good. There's so much depth to her and I adore it. (Haha sorry if this doesn't make much sense it's hard for me to get my many thoughts about this down)

It makes perfect sense! I loved that too. A character can be complex without ultimately redeeming in the end! Any character in a story should be complex after all!

I cried on the inside when Scarlemagne died... I didn't even noticed,, but it's true: Scarlemagne was a character that was so good developed, he was a villain because he was betrayed once and lost faith on humans, he starts to bring back his good side, but it's not, like, in 2 minutes, it took time, it took effort... I loved that so much. I love that when Kipo's trying to bring the good out of him, he doesn't want to, but with the mute kids on the village, he was so soft... I had chills when that scene came up. Also, when he is helping Wolf to get new clothes to go to the Prom... He acts like he is her older brother. And I loved that so much, that he acted like Kipo and Wolf were his sisters, it hit me so hard. I loved that show so much... I admit, I'm still sad about those 'cured' mutes... but I know the message that it brings us... I seriously love this show...

Something I loved about this show are it's themes of racism, discrimination, and it's environmental messages. Heck there's an episode in season 3 where Kipo and her crew rescue 4 of they're mute friends from emilia's lab. This refers to how major corporations use animals as test subjects. This scene also refers to the shows semi subtle message of how important animal rights are. I always believed that animals are not as dumb as we humans tend to believe. There are two moments in season 3 that I happy cried and sad cried. The first moment was when the mute children are playing together and doing the secret handshake which just really warmed my heart to a point where even though I'm not a parent, my instincts still kicked in because I did not want to see the futures of these children by someone who saw them as monsters. The other moment was when some of the mutes got they're intelligence taken away in the battle. I also cried during yumyans final goodbye. In this day and age I'm glad this show was released during a time it was needed most which is now.

Well, is it racism if they are entirely different species? Anyways, they were in no way referring to animal rights lol, the circumstances in the show vs real life are night and day

It was quite obvious they weren't going to redeem her. She had gone way too far for any redemption and was already before an evil person as we have seen her brutalizing Lio, Song, Hugo and the other Humans and Mutes throughout the story. I knew they would subvert the weak expectations that she has a sad backstory with her Brother and it was sad...from the perspective of her brother she brutally murdered.

I adored Scarlemane’s (I probably spelt that wrong) redemption ark and it was realistically paced and you can see him gradually grow as a person and you could tell that he genuinely felt horrible for what he did, I thought they handled it greatly

I never cry when I watch TV shows. I have watched many sad things happen on screen and it didn't shake me up nearly as much as Scarlemagne's death. I actually wept for over 10 minutes after he died. I never do that. It was a rushed death to me, one that didn't get the time or buildup it deserved and yet it still hit me like a thousand bricks. I just wish he could have been a family with the rest of the Oaks again.

The one thing I don't like about Kipo: There isn't enough.... I'm still sad that i watched all of season 3 in one day. I regret it

this was super enjoyable !! kipos such an amazing series i love the colors, art direction n design, the music is AMAZING etc etc it should totally get a movie/some kinda continuation of story i'd be into it :DD always interested in hearing ppls thoughts on redemption as well, ur right imo it should def be a lil more earned/less of a heroic sacrifice @ the final moment kinda thing n im rlly glad kipo didnt have that, makes it all the more satisfying ^_^

Well, if they ever do make a movie, that's an easy plot thread for them to follow. At the same time, it would kinda cheapen the ending if they just got a reset on everyone they lost in the finale. It's not really loss if you just get it back. I suppose they could go on a journey to gather supplies and refine the vaccine, only for it to end up not working and let the story weave in a grief theme to go with the loss of the 3rd season. Or give us a happy ending? I don't know...

@@tdblackboxx6866 I'm thinking more like they move outside La Vistas and meet other humans outside of their world and other mutes. And probably explain what caused the mute takeover because they don't explain that too much in the show. A vaccine would be nice but kinda of realistic because yeah, it would be a rest if everyone came back and animals lifespan is kinda short compared to humans. So I don't know whether a "cured" mute's lifespan would make for the old chachters like Yumyan come back for a movie

I thought the vaccine for the cure would stop the cure from working, but not that it could *undo* the cure. I was actually hoping against that happening, as it would undermine the stakes. Sometimes you can’t undo the damage that has been done. You can only mitigate it. So I was fairly pleased that they didn’t make it so it could suddenly fix everything that had happened. It was bittersweet and played into the themes well, but was still sad.

someone said the ultimate goal of kipo was to make an irl animal crossing and i can’t stop thinking about it

Kipo and the age of wonder beasts is a beautiful show indeed. They did a great job on representation and making it to where the person watching can relate. To me it’s a more realistic feel like how you mentioned Emelia and how she still didn’t want to make peace with mutes. The show did a good job of showing how different people are and that it’s ok. I love how they showed the loss of everyone and the pain it brought. I will never forget how Emelia didn’t even eat Bensons pancakes. This makes no sense I just wanted to rant.

I feel like because of her father's parenting, Emilia felt superior towards her brother. Even tho she loved him she didn't valued him more than she valued her own plans. Also since she agreed with her father and didn't questioned their mission (to bring humans back on top)it made the only way of living Emilia known, so I feel like that would be a possible representation of her emotions when her brother (whose she was not afraid of and didn't felt inferior towards) says the complete opposite of what her life has been about

I wonder how it would have gone if the dad went up there with them. Would he have sided with the brother or sister? On one hand, he probably doesn't want to kill the brother, and just leaving him alive would be taking his side, and he might even be swayed by his arguments, but on the other hand he could have been just like his daughter. Maybe he wouldn't kill him and just firmly tell him to go to Ratland and never come back. Idk, because his character was never explored hat deeply, he's just the reason why Emila was so crazy.

they all look so different in the end KIPOS HAIR AND BENSONS! WOLFS A TEEN KIPO IS SO TALL AHHH ( i want season 4 and 5 so bad i wish they could add more seasons) (tbh the endings quite emotional)

*I know I'm late even though I Finished the show a while ago, but the way scarlamane developed in season 3 was ASTRONOMICAL.*

I ADORE this show but I will never get over the fact that Hugo looks like a coconut and that just ruined his evil image for me XD

It’s crazy to me Kipo HERSELF turns out to be the cure!

Kipo is amazing, I just wished it had more seasons, it felt like it should of had 5 seasons- Hugo though, His laugh was everything 😔, This shows again that dreamswork isn't scared to kill of characters! E.g She-Ra and the princesses of power.

i absolutely loved this show! the message behind it is really needed nowadays, i wish i grew up with shows like this with more diversity and deeper meanings behind it!! ♥️ love, from Brazil

The margot subplot could have been given more room to breathe and what happened in the end was too sad

I know some people don’t like Hugo’s Ending, but I honestly think it’s genius as well. After being ‘abandoned’, he decided to live for himself, and only himself. He built a tyrannical empire(which was crushed by Kipo and the hang ofc😃). After being captured and reconciling with the mutes, he ultimately decided to sacrifice himself for his mother, father, and his sister. Think about it this way: He lived for himself, and died for his family. That right there is some amazing character development.

Well, my sister got me interested in the show and it's safe to say I'm hooked. "The Age of Wonderbeasts" is a theme that will always bring me to tears as a reminder of the emotion instilled in me by the brilliant writing and characters. 10/10 would watch again. Oh, and if you're reading this and still haven't watched it yet, give it a shot.

Heroes On Fire for me

Ngl, I actually kinda cried when Yumyan turned into a normal cat. He was such a fun character to me, and the fact that he didn’t even turn back 5 years after was saddening. Don’t even get me started when Hugo died after he became likable-

You can definitely tell that the creators were told that they weren't going to get more time and space to tell their story and that they had to wrap it up quickly, season three did feel rushed and it didn't have the room to breathe that one and two did, but they did not half ass this season, they did absolutely everything they could to get their points across and for what it was, they did an amazing job. They still struck a sense of balance in their storyline and themes, they still kept it realistic. There was a lot lost in the constraints for time, but I never felt heavily disappointed by any of it, even if I knew it could have been done better. Kipo had an excellent writing team and I'm very glad we got to have the ending that we did

I legit shed a tear in episode 6. Seeing all the mutes being transformed is depressing. The “Fight is Chamile it’s just like venom” line was probably the saddest for me

I just love how they developed Hugo like when I saw him in season 2 I hated him so much, but when he died in season 3 I legit cried.

8:57 I was waiting for them to have Song communicate to Kipo through Mulholland, like they did last season, and I was kind of frustrated that the sub-plot of this episode could’ve been solved so easily. But getting to see Song and Scarlamagne interact was worth it.

Man. Just a moment of pure hope came across 2020. This show was near perfect.

Scarlemagne was and still is my favorite character. I was heartbroken when he sacrificed himself.

Something I find that makes amelias defeat more satisfying is that she’s stuck with another character who’s not willing to change for other people, sure fun-Gus has the mentality of a young child but the parallels in how they each insist on their own way I just love.

Awsome i absouloultley love the way you put evrything on the table and i think its safe to say this series , WAS GOLD! honestly i loved it the amount of diversity and love the show had mixed with hatred and sorrow was beuitiful

I loved season 3 but I had 3 major problems with it. Margot’s plot, Scarlemagne, and the vaccine. Margot’s plot was mostly frustrating as I felt it had a lot of good ideas about forgiveness and redemption something that the whole season was sorta about, but then it was just dropped. I’m not even mad that Wolf didn’t forgive her she has every right to, but the fact that it had no resolution was really angering. She’s just given the cure and we forget about her. It just felt like a useless plot, and it’s especially annoying when half of it was just Benson and Dave being mad (which to me got old fast). Scarlemagnes death didn’t really feel like it had any meaning, as his redemption seemed to already be good. Him dying didn’t seem to make sense to me, besides trying to add a gut punch to us. And the vaccine was confusing because Song and Lio say they can make a vaccine to reverse the cure, and even have the supplies for it, but then that’s just dropped. Sure Song said it would take a bit but it was never implied it would take y e a r s especially with the expertise Song and Lio have. I could’ve missed something with this one though. Besides the complaints I have with season 3 it was still great, and made me bawl like a baby.

These are very fair issues. I did at least appreciate that the Margot plot went in a different direction than I'd have expected and I don't think everyone needs to be redeemed to fit the themes of the season (see Emilia haha).

@@Fallingwithstyle1995 I guess that’s my biggest problem with it. It’s going somewhere and then just suddenly stops. I would’ve liked to see It do more, and actually see Wolf and Margot have a conversation (without Benson and Dave interjecting). Wolf wouldn’t even need to forgive her But just a conversation tying the entire thing up, But instead Margot is given the mute equivalent of death and then written off. (Sorry this was a bit of a tangent)

The vaccine wasn't to reverse the cure. It was to stop the mutes from being cured in the first place. They might have continued working on it in case anyone ever tried to recreate Emelia's work, but it wouldn't help the ones that were already effected.

I absolutely love this show, and this ending was a great end to the series! I think it was a good idea for the mutants cured to not be fixed, as it has a lasting effect unlike in most shows where they'd more than likely be fixed. The characters have interesting backstories and plots, that left me hoping we get to see more of them in future projects, the music can really hold scenes together and is just really good, and the aniamtion is stunning! Gives off a anime kind of vibe without actually being anime! 10/10 great show :D I hope we get a kipo film one day because I REALLY want more Kipo stuff lol

I loved that they had multiple characters coming back so many times so we can see theyre development and how they grew and how the main group changed them and made them better watching all 3 seasons in a row was pretty epic as you saw everyone grow gradually and over time and seeing the constant comebacks of other characters and being like oh hey its you from a few episodes ago it was a awesome journey to see everything unfold in a binge

Imagine if covid19 was what happened since viruses comes from animals but they do evolve too

I was afraid they were going to give Emilia a very sympathetic story and butcher her character arc, but no, it was just to show that even if she was indoctrinated in a certain way, she still had a choice, like her brother, to open her eyes to other options and become more accepting

I started bawling my eyes out when I saw Hugo was dying I had to pause the episode so I could make it through the rest but I love how they gave him a proper statue in honor that he saved his Kipo‘s life most shows don’t do that they usually just give the character that has died a grave and that’s it thank goodness that the creators of Kipo gave Hugo a proper memorial goodbye Hugo we all love you❤️😌

This show is incredible. It touched my soul. My nerd heart. I hope this team tells more tales. Have they?

I loved the show it was brilliantly written, it kept people on there toes and it made a lot of real world problems seem so easy to overcome, the age of wonderbeats has had a wonderful story and I can’t wait to see the movie.

The day season 3 came out I started watching the show and I’m loving it so far and I can’t wait to watch the rest so I can watch your Kipo videos.

Kipo is so underrated, I remember watching it in 2020 and I thought it was just some random show, but I got very attached and cried MANY times

I really appreciate that Amelia didn't die. I feel that just killing a villain can sometimes undermine the story and is painfully predictable. People we're opposed to, who aren't good don't just suddenly disappear. I was pleasantly surprised with this show. Also the music is kicking.

I loved the development and change Scarlemaine had as i thought he was the big bad the whole time until i found out about Hugo and then was like hes not a bad dude hes just hurt and damaged

I like how the show is gradually getting more and more love that it deserves 😊
