I liked that Rand at the end of the book started to sound like Lews therin. He finally at dragon mount understood his failure (acknowledge the death Ilyena)and accepted his advise. At the end of the book both Rand and Lews therin stop being so self center .

Regarding Massema - if there was ONE time to abuse Power and disregard consent that I actually would have approved of it would have been forcing Massema to go through the Gateway. His excuse was flimsy and an obvious avoidance of facing Rand. I wanted a satisfying confrontation between The Dragon and the Dragon's Prophet. I wanted Massema to be totally and completely humbled before his Savior and Rand publicly denounce his gross followers, using his Taveren-ness to turn them to the Light.

Rand's ability to touch the Dark One's Power doesn't come from the Dark One. It comes from the weird connection he has with Moridin ever since they crossed Balefire streams. I can't remember if it's in notes or interviews, but Balefire is basically powered by the weilder's soul. Since Moridin can channel vast amounts of the True Power, sometimes Rand can as well. And in that moment with Semihrage, he's desperately flailing about for anything that could help him. The Crossed Balefire Streams thing was all Robert Jordan.

The bubble of evil that was most horrific to read (hear this time around on audiobook) was not Hinderstap but the roaches one. It was terrible and I ripped my husband away from whatever he was listening to in bed so he could experience my horror and I could dig my fingernails into his arm and squeal. He thought it was hilarious. And it kind of was but I was so grossed out.

Whatever you do don't try to use the books as a reference point to much for the show. Be'lal, Rahvin, Semirhage, and Aran'gar were not there during the war of power. This means things this turning are going to be very different than the turnings in the books. Mat's Dagger for example isn't Mat's dagger from the books. It's also why Moiraine swearing on the oath rod wasn't a huge deal. Burning someone out of the pattern has long lasting effects and long term consequences on future weaving's. It is also why there are only 9 forsaken statues. Everything I thought I knew just shifted. Rafe is a brilliant genius as I have been claiming. Holy crap.

Sam Raimi made the Evil Dead movies. You should check them out. The first movie was supposed to be serious horror movie but the special effects were so bad it was funny. Sam Raimi embraced this and made a parity remake of his own movie and called it Evil Dead 2 and played up the cheese and humor. It’s great. And then a few years later they make the best funny horror movie Army of Darkness. Where they go totally into the humor. I’m not into horror movies much but that series is fun.

The scene were Mat made up characters histories for the assault on the town where Verin was staying was something I had a huge problem with. Mat isn’t comic. His situations and his “say one thing but do another” is his comedy. Him being stupid and a bad general are not. Mat isn’t a story teller. He would walk in like Salidar.

The women are like goats bit just makes me think of the style of talking with uses. It's a very Brandon style of his "funny" characters
